I don't know about y'all but I'm literally in tears here after watching this trailer. I grew up watching Sleeping Beauty (obviously not when it came out) and Maleficent has been my favourite villain since. Plus Angelina Jolie! I am so excited for this movie. It looks phenomenal. I'm glad to see Disney is taking a dark and eerie approach. Anyone else looking forward to this?
Looks interesting. Ill wait to rent it on bluray. Ill say this. It can't be any worse than the huntsman,
Maleficent is one of my favorite Disney characters ever. I hadn't seen this trailer until now but I did know about the movie. After watching that I so need to see the movie when it comes out. I seriously cannot wait!
Yuppers! Lana Del Rey covers "Once Upon a Dream" Angelina hand picked her to sing it. So beautiful. Omg, don't get me started on that movie. It had so much potential. but like, it went nowhere and somewhere else. Lol. I know this movie will be fantastic, I can feel it in my guts.
I'm not sure if I like Angelina playing her but she looks good as her. It's about time her being way too skinny is a good thing. (She could still eat a sandwich or 2) I love maleficent. All I could think of during that trailer was kingdom hearts..lol.
I was just telling someone that she was a damn fine pick because she's so skeletal with the high cheek bones. And her voice will fit the part well.
I feel like she will either be great or really bad. I don't see there being a middle ground with this. But yes she does look the part, now she just has to put in a good performance which she hasn't done in a very long time.
You know what though? Maleficent is one of those once in a life time, over the top roles that you can't not put your all into. I have a feeling she's going to be really good in it. Especially with the movie being named after the character. You can't put a movie out without a strong performance from the title character.
That's a good point...and i hope you're right. I hope she does good cuz the movie looks very aesthetically pleasing.
Disney's plan for next few years, remake all the children stories (Alice in Wonderland, Oz the Great and Powerful, Malificient and I bet the next one will be Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs). Don't get me wrong I enjoed Alice and Oz was great but it's getting kind of boring that a large part of movies now are remakes. How about something new?
but ... Maleficent isn't an utter remake of sleeping beauty ... parts of that story are there but it is more about Maleficent becoming what she is in Sleeping Beauty ... and Alice ... that wasn't all Disney ... that (as you could see) was a Tim Burton pet project EDIT: Super excited for this movie also btw!
Actually Tim Burton is very Disney. He worked during his early career for them on the animating team for The Fox and the Hound and Tron. Plus Alice was a Disney film. Along with Nightmare Before Christmas, Frankenwinnie, plus his first official short, Vincent.
but that's really only because under all Disney contracts any employee can not create any creative project in which the ownership is maintained by the individual. Technically Disney owns Tim Burton's soul since most of his work (Nightmare, Frankenweenie) were created (in his sketch books mind you) while he was working as an animator on Fox & Hound. He has stated several times that, if it wasn't for this 'ownership' he would have severed ties with Disney years ago ... but they own him ... And Nightmare was a Touchstone Film that was distributed by Disney. Though Disney did own Touchstone ... ... ...
