i am biased as i hate this types of content. i feel its awful, very much so not fun and imo a total waste of our developments time.
i say convert the major events into dlcs and put the stabilizers into the vault and be done with it. any future events can simply have a bit more work done and become future dlcs.
new players have 7 teirs to rip through so they are not bored and without content. adding more to them seems pretty pointless while you have loyal customers who are sitting around end game bored beyond belief.
i cant tell if these contents are good for dcuo because i openly admit to being biased but i would very much so like to hear the fellow gamers opinions on developments time being spent on such content

I wont say it's a waste of time but more a let down for long timers. We ask for more dlc content and the reply is "no, we need to give the new players our attention".
I'm biased too, and by now a little bitter. No offence to the new player themselves btw, I dont blame you, more the thought process of the Dev team/decision makers. Its like "learn to play? Pfft, all the old guys did it that way, bleh, youll learn at end game, just get there as quick as you can, these events will help you, and did I mention there's armour in TCs too....."

Edited because something I wrote was censored and changed to "kind gesture"

    And again......keep going, please

    Hi there

I agree with you . I have to say that probably they're doing the events coz free players can have a taste of high tier content , since legendary members became less and less , dcuo needs somehow to attract new players and open to everyone easy event seems a good way.Well dcuo can do better by minimizing pay to win , less time capsules, less feats or no feats at all from time capsules.Alot of people stopped playing this game coz of time capsules, once time capsules are gone or minimized somehow , alot of players will start playing dcuo again.

I think you might be confusing what you see as a waste of YOUR time with a waste of development's time. Development's job is to create content that brings in revenue. Both TCs AND the events bring in tons of revenue via stabilizers and resets.

There is no measurement stick from a business point of view that would tell them these two things are a waste of development's time, currently.

I know there are a lot of complaints about both, and I'm not discounting them, but the fact is actions speak louder than words. For all the complaints, people keep spending money on both stabilizers and resets.

It very well may be a waste of your time. I imagine that's kind of subjective thing thats different for everybody.

But from a development standpoint? TCs and Events have been very successful.

On top of that, even if it's not content that everyone is inclined to play or the kind that some would prefer, they ARE still delivering content to us. Had they not made a full-blown event out of the anniversary or added the Starro content, there'd still be complaints because nothing else had been added into the game since AF3.

Do I like everything about them? Not really. The Anniversary event collection being locked behind the raid was irritating and there wasn't a whole lot of stuff I particularly wanted in terms of the rewards from that event. On top of that having all the gear from them suddenly being progression gear was/is frustrating because it takes a whole lot of guesswork on what you can/can't attune if you're trying to keep a character at a particular spot in the tiers.

But even with those frustrations, there's no way I can deny that they DID add to the game with those events, even if I found parts of it less than ideal.

major event is awesome, at least it's something new that isnt a seasonal event, i wish it would last longer..

I was ok with the thought of events but the way the anniversary one was handled I have zero use for them as a legendary member if the price of my membership isn't enough to allow me to get the basic feats meaning the vender gear in the amount of time the event it's a total failure.

All events and seasonals are currently dps based. So if they do decide this route they should eliminate support roles completely as they are only needed for little to no content

only true for high CR player.. try the content with a group of lv.10 and tell me role isnt required to complete it..

I know me and a bunch of others ive spoken with dont like the events because they took smaller dlcs and turned them into limited time content and locked rewards with feats behind the grind. So its get it all now or maybe never get it. The limited time thing imo is being used as a tool. Where if it was a small dlc like before there is no limited time to get these items.

And i know some people can say well ya dont need all the rewards. I wish people would realize some people play the game to get all rewards and complete all styles/feats or whatever. They are completionists. That is whats fun to them. And some of us want to complete it all because for a long time we were able to do that by simply grinding the content. Plus if the intention is for people not to complete the stuff then why have it there in the 1st place? I think we all know the answer to that ;) For a lot of the hardcore vet players out there, not all, events are not looked at as meaningful content.

Personally its hard for me to view the starro event that way, as meaningful content. In the duo, alert, and clamped raid im simply mashing buttons. And its over in minutes. At least the member raid was different. I think the whole label thing is funny too. This is labeled an event but this isnt. Like how feats in the events are labeled progression but the feats in TCs arent  Anything could be labeled content. Is the stabilizer duo content?

All good and well until you've run the same event multiple times ;)

I've said it before "fear of missing out" is being utilized to push sales.

It was one of the primary aspects selling time capsules; get in and get in quick or miss out, you've got 8 weeks!

The same thing is now being used to sell events. We don't even have a calendar schedule it comes back when these events will come back.

The fact they've said they want a roster of these large events makes them all the more indeterminate.

Not at all. There needs to be a balance between reused content and fresh new content.

Seasonals need fresh new content and the seasonals are a prime example. Why do you think us 6 year vet players cringe each time the events start.

Because we're for the sixth time agonizingly killing swamp thing. There has been no change for six years.

Things need a change up to maintain engagement or you lose your long term players to detraction.

In my view maybe if they want to make events they could expand on what we have.

The starro event for example could have been an awesome expansion to the summer event.

Well, if the new Episode only can be played by people at endgame (CR175ish or higher), that's about .02% of the population.

A new Event would be able to be played by 99% of the population.

Which is really a waste of time? ;)

if you asked me last december i was all for these events as they are. now i'm not so sure.

i think the easy content + time capsule progression is making for an extremely lazy player base.

as i've stated in the past events should be "in addition to" regular content. not "in place of".

time capsule collections and styles should have be littered into new dlcs as items you work to acquire with
subscribers getting additional benefits/styles to entice sub sales.

the lack of content in over the past year is really killing things for me. i've got a little break the next few days. normally i'd be
giddy with the anticipation of being able to lock myself away and have a little dcuo marathon but now its like i think i'd rather go back to work.

i'm excited for the new dlc...but i'm really not excited to grind it out for the next year.

How many of those 99% are spending money? I think thats the real question ;) If 90% of that 99% never intends to spend a cent then why develop content for them? And if the 1% is spending more then the 99% well i think its clear why dlcs are the way they are. I dont have the answers on spending obviously. Its just something to think about. What i do know is that interview with smedley from awhile back he said 97% of players dont spend a dime. I think its obvious why these events, open episodes, and the part of ep28 thats free for a month are happening. To entice people to sub. Daybreak doesnt want players who never spend anything but stay playing their game for years running content.

Plus idk if .02% is accurate. Does the census show active players? If it does then i guess it is accurate. But i gotta say i find it hard to believe 175+ is only .02%. Maybe im wrong tho. I know the census doesnt show alt info. So all population #s from the census would be inaccurate because of that.

    Too true.

I have to admit that I kind of shuddered when I read the OP because I realized that he is calling attention to the fact that only a tiny segment of the population is actually going to have access to the newest DLC. I just hope that the devs don't realize that...
