I had an old leaguemate delete all his gear, waepons everything right before he quit the game for good just to see if his CR went to 0 and it stayed at CR98 which was the highest at the time. Now I don't know if that is still the case and no way am I saying to go give it a try lol but that is what I remember happening. Why would you want to do this anyway ?
Combat Rating was changed in an update last fall so that it would not go down even if you delete gear. https://forums.station.sony.com/dcuo/index.php?threads/cr-wont-go-down.170832/#post-2006807
I believe the only way to lower your CR is to play an Iconic Anomaly or Legends mode. But the effect is temporary and returns to normal once you're out of the instance. When the lockboxes changed for DLC10/Tier 6, they weren't dropping if your CR was over 103 (I think, maybe 100) but you could trigger one to drop for yourself if you ran an Iconic Anomaly as they artificially reduced your CR. People were getting a lockbox upon defeating their first NPC.
So that means CR is not so much a reflection of what you are wearing, but what you have gotten. So, with that, it's not really a good reflection of durability unless you remained smart and are currently wearing the gear. This is interesting........and kind of throws a small kink in the argument of having CR inspectable.
The Reason I was asking is because I have 9 toons over cr100 and want to lower some to cr98 to get full prestige for doing t5 content
The Higher Your CR the worse your drops and chance for rare items like the ring of omnipotence. Which is BS.
I deleted gear from my Tier 4 troller to run the lower stuff more. My CR is still 74. My league still wouldn't get prestige from the lower instances that I'm chasing some feats for, so I made new characters to get Tier 3+ feats. Yay me!
Where did you hear this? I do not believe this to be the case. My main is 106 and is always right at the top of the CR rankings. He gets everything fairly easily. Completed both vestment sets, Time Traveler, Traces, etc. while my lower toons (usually about 2-5 cr lower) have no luck getting drops, only have a few pieces of rare styles etc... In fact i had to buy a compartment trinket for my troll to finally get one.
Do yoou have two rings of omnipotence on your main without having to spend a hundred dollars on replay badges? All I know is when league mates of mine get one of their alts carried through high tier content months after it has come out, their alt will always get the rare drops. Drops however are not account bound.Go figure.
