While ive been a member of this forums for about 10 years now very little of what ive posted has made a impact. This is my first time taking a stab at a topic like this and i feel like a few maybe even a good amount would support. Im here to suggest that for one update we At least try out hiding the lantern rings glow while out of combat, have them appear once in combat, ask for players to leave their feedback on the forums. I am unsure how to post pictures on the forums while on mobile but here are a few tv examples of how lanterns rings are portrayed. Nothing. Just another person believing they're more important than they really are when it comes to this game. Not knocking them, just making a statement of fact. There are a lot of people who feel the devs should pay attention to them and do as they ask, or demand.
while I agree that it would serve no purpose beyond cosmetic, I don't really think that's any reason to poo-poo the idea. might just as well say "what purpose does it serve?" any time anyone makes a request for any style or cosmetic or base item at all. the purpose it would serve, I guess, is for deeper immersion in the story for some players. & I'm fine with that. & Rockhound, man. come on. that's just being mean, bruv. upvote from me, if only just "because."
Holy lag, Batman! My ring won't work for a few seconds after combat starts. This is a dangerous cosmetic request. Tying this to combat or non-combat, possibly and probably would screw something up. Maybe something like the ring being an accessory so you could control the brightness and/or color shade?
I don't think they should turn on and off out of combat because people want their rings to be forever visible because that's their personal preference and your preference shouldn't over ride theirs. As a compromise though I don't see any harm in allowing you to personally hide your own ring with an option if that's what you desire, or if they apply what you suggest then I think it has to be a game setting the player can opt out of.
I don't see an issue with the idea, but personally I would like there to be an option for it. I kinda like leaving my ring glowing. It makes it easier to follow me since it leaves a little trail lol.
I got no issue with a game setting to hide or show the rings glow. Don’t take my glow without my consent tho. In or out of combat.
IMO, I kinda don’t like this idea that takes the fun out of being a lantern especially in game without the glow you’re just a person with no lantern powers just glowing constructs when fighting but, I do believe there should be an option to turn it on and off in style tab menu if that what you personally prefer lol.
With due respect, with ideas like this, it's no surprise the devs have never use them. This change you would likely: A) Cost them unnecessary man hours and resources for very little return B) It's a cosmetic change that would not matter in the least for actual gameplay C) Would only be somewhat enjoyable by a slim niche margin of the games population D) It would effect the content creation flow and quantities and/or quality of the future content, just for a "cool or neat" feature. E) It could run the risk of breaking something else in the game, whether with the powerset or just the visuals. Which would cost more resources and hours to fix. Not all ideas that sound good are actually feasible, in practice with being a business with practical limits on personnel and resources. They squeeze the best features in when they can, that will be enjoyed or benefitted by as many players as possible. If I have an idea, I ask around my league just to get other perspectives to help see issues it may have, before posting on the forums. Not that all your ideas are bad, you just might wanna get a few 2nd opinions first.
to be honest this was asked in the past when the rings first came out. the only answer we got for years was "its on the back burner" which means never going to happen. mind you people only wanted it as an option to turn it off and on or have it glow only in combat.
A red lantern with no ring vfx would be a neat way to make a blood mage like Castlevania LOS2’s Dracula or Mortal Kombat’s Scarlet.
