Done everything I have seen online and it still keeps closing.

When you decide to return to DCUO, but it doesn't want you to..

The game has been installing for a while now, and keeps closing unexpectedly with no freaking message. Tried everything in the book, and nothing works. I'll just hope that reopening it 700 more times will finally get it to 100%.

I have the exact same issue
  4. Kingpin Dragon New Player

Same issue, the re-opening 1000 times tactic seems to be working for now. We'll see.
  5. AmaGeni New Player

Yep. I am getting this same issue. I'm on a brand new computer with Windows 10. So there are no previous installations of any king, the only thing I have downloaded so far is Firefox
  6. Doctor Arcanum New Player

I was having the same issue with a new hard drive and a fresh install of Windows 10. Downloading and installing Flash fixed the issue. I think something in the launcher uses Flash and crashes when it cannot find Flash.
  7. KRO New Player

I followed Doctor Arcanum's advice. I went to the Adobe Flash website and downloaded the Flash plug-in. Does not crash anymore. And here I thought I had an updated Flash.

I'm having the same problem, downloaded the game via steam and it keeps closing down while it installs. I deleted the launcher cashe, validated game assets though the launcher and through steam. I just can't seem to get it to stay open long enough for it to install.
  9. UrbanKxng New Player

im having the same problem too. has anybody found out how to fix it
  10. AhsansAwesome New Player

Your best bet is to contact support they will give you advice on how to fix it. I had to go through a bunch of stuff with them, and half way through I had to keep opening it let it install , it would close down then open up again and continue the install where it left off, repeating process. Hopefully it goes easy for you, good luck!

Yes, the solution is in this thread:

Update your Flashplayer and Internet Explorer.

For those still having issues after deleting files, reinstalling, updating flash etc...I have found a "work around." Relatively easy, doesn't modify files and, best of all, you don't have to babysit the launcher. It's not as long and complex as it looks like at first glance; I tried to be as clear and specific as I could to avoid confusion. Of course, feel free to ask if you have any questions or are unsure about anything.

-First, open Task Scheduler (should be able to find it through Cortana or the Search).
-A window will pop up, and on the right hand side it should say "Actions", and under that, Task Scheduler (Local). If this category is not expanded, just click on the Area Task Scheduler is in / the arrow. Three options down should be "Create Task...". Click this.
-A new window comes up with several tabs at the top listed (from left to right) General, Triggers, Actions, Conditions, Settings. It should already be on General.
-Where it says "Name:" List it as something that will remind you what it is, Such as DCUO Launcher. Make sure, under security options below Name, Location, Author, and Description, the option "Run only when user is logged on" is the one checked/bubbled.
-Now go to the Triggers tab. Click "New...". Click the drop down next to "Begin the task: " and select "At task creation/modification".
-Under Advanced settings (same tab) make sure "Delay Task for: " is unchecked. Check "Repeat task every: " and select 5 minutes. I set it to be "for a duration of: <Indefinitely>". Uncheck "Stop task if it runs longer than: "
-Check "Activate: " and set it for whatever time it currently is for you. (You can also set it to start 2-5 minutes or more later, if you want to test to see if it will start on its' own, even though it should no matter what.) Uncheck "Expire" and make sure "Enabled" Is checked, and hit "Ok" at the bottom.
-Now go to the "Actions" tab. Click "New...". An edit action window should now be up.
-Select, in the drop down next to "Action: " Start a program. Under Settings, Program/script, click "Browse..." and navigate to your launchpad.exe application. Make sure not to select the image file! and click "Open". then ok at the bottom.
-In the tab "Conditions", uncheck everything. This prevents it from halting the start up of the launchpad if your computer decides to do anything, or switches to AC power etc etc.
-Settings tab...last, but not least. Check the first three boxes - "Allow task to be run on demand", "Run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed:, and "If the task fails, restart every: ". Next to the third box, set the drop down to "1 minute" (minimum amount), and under that, "Attempt to restart up to: 999 (max) times". At the bottom, under where it says, "If the task is already running, then the following rule applies: " and set the drop down to "Queue a new instance" (This prevents it from opening multiples if the launcher is still running), and click Ok.
-Your task should be all set. If it doesn't start right away, find and highlight the task you just made, right click, and click run. This *should* keep you launcher going, or atleast starts it when it closes, automatically, allowing you to do other things.

Keep in mind, after your launcher finishes updating, you'll need to return to the Task Scheduler and right click on the task you just made and either Disable or Delete it, or else it'll keep launching it!

I really hope this helps others as much as it has helped me.

Just wanted to say I never played this game and was hoping to play today after downloading it overnight. I'm meeting this problem which is really weird seeing how i reformatted my computer last week and barely have anything installed on my comp. Anyway I'm most likely going to uninstall this game. Pretty bad first impression

    I'm a new arrival, heya all :)

I have the same problem, and as an old gaming hand, I am aware it's not my computer.

Given that this issue has lived on in the game literally since its inception, and with all due credit to TesuraGrimm, I believe I also have a work-around. It may take a bit of effort, but I am rather sure it will work flawlessly.

-Locate the folder named "Daybreak Game Company" [may have recently been renamed from 'SOE']; it might be hidden
    - Delete all files referencing 'DCUO Game Development Department' or 'DCUO Programmer' or 'DCUO Management'
    - clear your trashbin to make sure they are gone

-Find the file titled 'DCUO Customer Service.ini'; if there isn't one, create it via Notepad
-add the first line: "script;hire new programmers who have actually played MMOs=1"
-save the new file, make it /Read Only
    -restart the launcher

    Guaranteed to work ;)

    :p

By any chance, are any of you using Windows 10? Because I never had an issue until I installed Windows 10. Also, it's a pain in the *** but all you can do is keep on opening up the launcher until the entire file is installed. That's what I do.

    Did you install...
    Internet Explorer
    Flash player (latest)
    NET Framework
    C++ Runtime
    directx
    ?

all, except flashplayer, can be downloaded from microsoft.com

Hate to revive a dead thread but I'm having this issue too.
I've uninstalled the game and reinstalled to a different location (new HDD) and when trying to install it the launcher keeps on closing - I feel like I remember this happening the the past too but I just kept on relaunching the LaunchPad.exe from the game directory.

I'm running with Windows 10 Pro and have checked that everything you listed is installed. It's a bit of a pain when the game is 22GB at this point and it closes after downloading 100MB or so data.

It's possibly worth creating a ticket for this since there's a lot of others experiencing it.

Easy to fix it. Change your DNS Server Address, here is a how to, make sure you got the right OS (Win 7,8,10)
    for PC: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001161.htm
    for PS3: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connectadvance.html
for PS4: 1. Go to "Settings" > "Network" > "Set Up Internet Connection"
    2. Select Wifi/LAN as appropriate for your connection.
    3. Select "Custom".
    3. IP Address Settings = Automatic
    4. DHCP Host Name = Do Not Specify
    5. DNS Settings = Manual
    Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
    Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
    6. MTU Settings: Automatic
    7. Proxy Server: Do Not Use

Change to Google Puplic DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) If you get delays, just change the DNS after downloading the game.

So far...this actually worked. Its a ridiculous thing that you would have to change your DNS to get a game downloaded but this is the one thing that has actually worked...
