I accidently uninstalled DCUO and now when i try to reinstall it the launcher closes down every 30-60 seconds. I'm not sure what to do.
I tried everything suggested on the support page before sending a support ticket, but i doubt that will receive an answer until next week. Not that it matters now, as i just kept clicking the exe for launchpad everytime it closed and it eventually downloaded the whole client.
The below solution worked for me. It crashed once after I did it but upon restart it then finished the install. "Update: success! For anybody who may encounter the same problem, the solution is to delete the "Sony Online Entertainment" folders from both your AppData/Local and AppData/LocalLow folders. These may have been relics from a previous install that were causing problems, I'm not sure. Either way, deleting those folders solved the problem."
That definitely made a difference, the progress bar is showing correctly now, but mine is still crashing. Edit: After skimming a post on steam about the same issue back in '13, I also deleted the launchpad-user.ini file from the game folder. It takes longer between crashes, so that's something.
Unfortunately, that answer doesn't help my situation. I'm trying to install the game, for the first time, on a brand new system. Even if such folders are now on my computer, I wouldn't know where to find them. This is my first experience with Windows 10, and I can't find wherever the hell it's hiding my program files! Somebody PLEASE help!!!
I'm having to do the same thing. is this a new problem to the game? raised a ticket and they don't exactly rush to help. I'm sure this turns some new players away from the game unfortunately
These folders are created upon the first login, but only when your Windows login has permissions to write and create forlders in: YourWindowsUsername / My Documents
turns out it was my fault I hadn't added it properly to the exclusions of the windows defender security software. I added the file and the folder but for some reason when I added the actual process it worked ok hope this might help someone
if its still not working for some people, maybe try downloading from steam a mate has had the same problem, he decided to download it on steam instead. seemed to work fine from there
I have tried both ways. Uninstalled AV and disabled Defender temp. and launcher still closes. Brand new windows 10 machine. the launcher is added to firewall as well. At a loss.
And where exactly is any of that? My user name is Christian, but there's no "yourwindowschristian" anywhere (There's no "yourwindows" at all, for that matter). There IS a shortcut to "Christian" on the desktop, but no "My documents" anywhere at all. There's a file that's simply named "Documents", but it's completely empty. Did I mention that I can't stand windows 10? I never had trouble finding anything with windows 7.
I deleted the sugested entries and it sadly made no difference...still encountered this issue the only solution for me was to keep restarting that launcher and eventually it got to 100%......I don't think its a permissions/firewall/virus checker problem at all but it odes require proper support attention....even if you follow my advice and get the game to 100% I would recommend a support ticket to raise the priority in their minds.
Yeah, I filed a support ticket last night, after trying every suggestion I came across. They sent me back some sort of request for information that basically looked like some sort of greek shopping list. From the wording of that response, it looks like they've already decided that THIER software can't be responsible at all, despite the fact that nothing else I've downloaded has this problem, and the Launchpad is so buggy that it can't be uninstalled.
I never upgraded and can't help you with that. Normally they are looking for driver and software conflicts and for that they request the dxdiag and msinfo. Creating those files is no wizardry - well, on WIndows 7 at least I can't know about 10...
I LOVE windows 7. I could find anything with that system. Windows 10 is an F'ng nightmare. It hides the C drive, and I STILL can't find my program files. Many features have been renamed, with no translation book included, and seems to be obsessed with forcing onto me other features I have no interest in. As for the dxdiag and msinfo, I never did have any idea what that stuff is or how to create it.
