We really need bigger open worlds with updated textures. The new open world for LOD is really cool, then you see the 2D like trees, the grass and the buildings and you remember the game is almost 11 years old.

Since they are talking about it more than a year away I dont doubt its something like that or even power visual revamps and character animations revamp.

let's pray it's not Daybreak on the Marvel game!!!

It didn't skip a year, this is only a portion of the full slide. The DCUO section is under their "medium term" plans. There was a Q4 2021 section and a 2022 section before the medium term part, but DCUO is not mentioned in it. I would assume it just means it's business as usual for DCUO in 2022, with nothing significantly out of the ordinary planned. If you want to take a look for yourself the link to the presentation is in the OP, and this slide is on page 17.

Tbf it was leaked like two or three years ago that a Marvel MMO had been cancelled. Ever since then a lot of the job postings for the unannounced game very heavily suggested it would either be DCUO 2 or the Marvel one had been revived. It hasn't exactly been a well kept secret.

Slightly unrelated to crossover, but as somewhat of a segue in to my post.

Third party licensing is actually what I'm the most curious about when I saw this earlier today.

It's no secret DC/WB and Disney/Marvel are entirely competing brands.

Running two competing intellectual property licenses out of exactly the same studio I find somewhat intriguing from a "wonder how that'll work out long term" type of view.

I did, and what you just mentioned is basically what I meant.

I didn't mean the entirety of 2022 is missing, maybe should have worded it differently. I meant DCUO's 2022 is missing. Normally at Quarterly presentations there'd be mention of upcoming Quarterly plans, even if it is just business as usual. But DCUO is missing 4 entire Quarters of updates and just skipping to 2023. Its not necessarily a "bad" sign or anything, not trying to spread any worry, I think the mention of DCUO reaching peak revenue should kill that thought. Its just very peculiar for a Quarterly Report or Presentation.

Ah ok, my bad for misunderstanding what you meant. I would guess this is typical since it's just a generic company wide financial report. A lot of their games only got very basic mentions, such as Everquest 2 getting an expansion next month. I don't read financial reports like this very often, but I have seen Nintendo ones in the past and its often just very vague statements made to make investors feel secure.

I don't even like Marvel's lore as much as I like DC's, such an MMO would need to really have better gameplay and character creation/customisation or it would be a hard pass, for me.

Thats whats odd. You're right about Investor Security, if anything thats the entire point of these. Make sure they know their money is well spent and keep them interested in future investment. But imagine you were reviewing a Stock you bought with a Broker Manager, they say "Yeah its going well, stocks been up and down in 2021 but holding now and still up 12%.Should see more movement in 2023". Pretty sure everyones first question would be "ok, wait, what about 2022?". Its odd because skipping 1 Quarter is usually a bit strange, but 4? Thats basically asking Investors to worry normally.

As i said though, this is all just guesswork right now and doesn't mean anything bad. EG7 may have an entirely different system set up for Existing Games' Quarterly Updates that we haven't seen. This might not be all of it.

Was there a report last year that covered 2022?

I mean - Disney took our Perry White

and turned him into the "Former" Black Goliath

Marvel is rumored to be taking DC's BEST Superman EVER in Henry Cavill

and rumored to be turning him into Captain Britain

Next, they'll be turning Gal Gadot into She-Hulk or something.

"Warner Brothers Media - where we give our competitors our BEST PEOPLE and they in turn actual make GOOD use of them LoL".

Of course this is just bad humor on my part but this is my perception of it all.

Looks at the DCUO landscape today
sees all these Players using Marvelesque Character Iconics

Looks a few Years into the Future on T.O. Morrow's Time viewer
    Sees Marvel Universe Online
Looks at all the Marvel Iconics Vanish from DCUO...
Sees almost as many DC Iconics Appear in MUO.....

Conclusion.... The More things change, The more they stay the same....

It's actually not unheard of. The 90s had a trading card game called OverPower. It was a Marvel, DC, and Image game. It was thriving until XMen came out and was killed because they took the marvel card game license back and sold it to another company that was making a movie themed card game. Later, there was the VS game and also heroclix. Themes and expansions we're still separate, but they could play with each other.

They can play nicely together side by side and to be honest, I hope they don't cross them over, because if Marvel decided to change something it would affect both games.

Could be, im not sure though. The date of EG7's acquisition of DI is a bit fuzzy. There was only a Welcome letter from EG7's CEO in April but it obviously happened at some point before then. If anyones got free time they can try to find any previous Quarterly Reports or Presentations. I'm merely commenting on the oddity of this 1.

The bottom right Marvel based MMO has me nervous, but only because its being deigned this company. Almost any other company I'd say, ok sure. But a Jack Emmert led company, no thanks.

Don't forget....After he launched the DC Batman movie series (and arguably 'modern' comic book movies)....

Marvel took Michael Keaton and made him 'The Vulture'.

Although to be fair....Marvel did hand off Ben Affleck's Daredevil.

So he could later become 'Batfleck'....

It's actually interesting how many people have been in both sets of movies. Probably more than you'd realize.
