Sooooo I've finally gathered the time to buy a laptop. The thing is that there are just so many different type of things about the types and battery and whether it can withstand graphics and prices that I'm honestly stumped. So I'm here asking for a little help on what to get. Nothing has really caught my eye. I mean which brand is better? So yeah. I'm in college. I don't need the highest grade one but it needs to be decent and not brake down due to tiny technicalities. 13-15 inches. Graphics card capable of being able to casually play most games on normal graphics(and can withstand some on high) and won't die on me in like 3 hours. This isn't a required thing to do. Just thought I'd ask for help. I'm still looking up laptops and whatnot. But help is appreciated.
If you live in the US, take advantage of our weak Cdn dollar. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y700-series/
I personally need something that I can take around. Not something stuck in one place. It just makes things easier on me to have it close. Definitely helps in college
Any other suggestions..Im also gonna replace my mac book, and 1000 pounds upper limit is sensible since it probably only will last three years anyway..What laptop in that price range would ,say, run DCUO best?
is this canadian dollars, no? Do you know what the limit to import to us from canada? I mean, with free customs...
That's is the sale price on the Lenovo US website for the first tier of the Y700 15". The sale price on the Cdn side is $1399 for the same model. =( Not sure what's their import policy is, but on the website they have 24/7 customer sale/support to answer that. I'm pretty sure they have warehouses in the US to deliver in the States.
Well, what DCUO Post is suggesting seems good. It fits everything you asked for. If you're going to be gaming regularly, you might want to pick up a laptop cooling pad. You can get one for an inexpensive price. A laptop cooling pad will extend your laptop's lifespan as it reduces the heat that's generated inside your laptop.
You can check this one too http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-in...lack/4454002.p?id=1219749483916&skuId=4454002 There's a silver version too if you don't like the black one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-in...lver/7454013.p?id=1219677761003&skuId=7454013 I currently have an older model of that laptop and I haven't found any problems with the game and I have it on the highest settings that I was able to get It has a lot of space (It's 1TB, the one I had before had 120GB so it's a lot for me ) so you can install a lot of games and software and also keep all your stuff in the same hard drive. The battery lasts around 3 hours playing this game and like 6 hours when I'm doing my homework. And the keyboard is big and has the numeric keys so it's good for typing and playing too. The one from the page has backlit keyboard so you can do it in the dark too :O I know it has intel graphics but it's enough for me. I saw a lenovo laptop that had the same stuff but also had a nvidia card instead but I wasn't able to afford it. It's under $1,000 so maybe you can get it http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y50-uhd/?sb=:000001C9:00015A22: Edit: I just saw DCUO Post's post and the lenovo laptop ^^^^ it's almost the same he's suggesting you but his option seems better
Alright thanks man. IK seriously considering getting this. Yeah that might be a good idea. no matter how I deny the chances of me playing regularly is higher then less. Now here's the deal with this. While I may like all the others. I just looked into this and my best buy apparently has it in the store. Whether I might buy it or not honestly depends on the battery and keyboard. I also looked at that Lenovo. Pretty good. Im gonna head up to my best buy just to gain a bit more info and decide after. Thank you ^^
The one Thunderbolt posted, its pretty good. It a bit better than the Lenovo Y700 15". That MSI model has 2 pros: 17" and 16GB ram.
