Issue with the sp system and the game in general

In order for dc to thrive again they need to do something about the sp system, new players will always be put off from feat farming especially due to most groups asking for sp in order for individuals to raid latest content. How do you expect to get high sp if you’re a new player, hence why this game will never grow, there maybe new players but once they realise the grind they will quit, due to players rarely even running old content for feats.Heck even returning players find it overwhelming forget about the newplayers. The combat system is amazing in this game, truly its fun, however they need to remove the sp system in order to attract more players ive played many mmos dcuo is the only mmo with a feat system which has an impact on stats, and possibly this is the reason as to why the game is dying. The population will only decrease.

see that's kinda what leagues are for, to help newer folk get into the game and help with cr and sp runs

MMOs in general are dying because no one has time for this stuff anymore besides kids.

I get it, though. I have one foot out the door and i have about 415sp. This took years though as you can see.

No, as a new player, you find a league, you get some help where needed and you work on old content and feats and build them up like you're supposed too, stop skipping content and just expecting to be OP.

If you've played other mmo's like you assert then you'll be particularly well aware that end game play requires grinding, many games moreso than this one even. It's not hard just put in some effort.

I disagree with the point of view that "The Game is dying". It's actually doing very well and even EU server has been more active then ever
as of late. People of all ages play this game, which is wonderful. I don't think that if you dislike something about the game, it automatically means the game is dying. If you join a league as Lycan said they can help you with sp, my league is very helpful and we help new folks
as well. They are not going to remove the sp system, It's part of how the game is built. SP means a lot more now then before revamp.
You can see the differences between someone with low sp and someone with 300+ sp, damage wise and all.

Overall, this system is not going to change and just get a helpful league to help you get the sp.
It used to be just me and my friend doing content together a year ago and since we found the league
our SP grew everyday. Edit: Just grind. This is what mmo's are about. No easy way

I sympathise, I ended up deleting my free cr210 skip character after I realised just how much time and/or money I’d have to invest just to get her caught up with my other characters. Mainframe, journal, styles, feats, augments like good grief. Maybe they should let us clone/copy characters and be done with it. :D I kid, I kid, I know that would make it far too easy. Also off topic.

I’d say just try and do and get as much as you can. You don’t need every single SP in the game. I know it sucks but it’s just not realistic to be a completionist in a game that’s already 8 years old when you started.

Your post makes me believe your at end game already? Guessing with the skip to 210 token? Sorry you were duped into thinking that CR means anything. :)

Your really not gonna find much here in the way if feeling sorry. They've already done a revamp. Last year they killed my grind over the years and mods by starting everyone over from the beginning with augments. This system does nothing to reward the long time players.

So in your opinion, no matter if some have been here for 8 years, you believe you should be just as strong? Can't agree. Can't even feel sorry. MMO = Grind.

No im an old player but never posted on forums i have 293 sp but took a break for 1.5 years I think, last dlc i did was age of justice, I came back to the game but I just found it overwhelming. Its like i have to play the game religiously to catchup on sp, Whilst i was gone on other games like ff14, that is thriving successfully in terms of population they only have a gear system which impacts your stats, no weekly raid locks and you can play every class on one single character but you have to level it up, its one of the most populat mmos, dc needs a change in order to attract more players

I don't think they should remove it; it's actually one of the more unique and appealing differences in this game from other MMOs.

However, I do feel it could be made more friendly. If you're speaking in regards to bonafide new players leveling legitimately, you'd be surprised how many you get just from the lengthy slog to a CR250. It's nothing at all to basically end up with CR and SP being roughly equal without really trying too much.

The problem lays specifically with the CR boost. When you boost a CR character, you get almost nothing for skill points. You're thrust into higher level content to progress, but with stats so low that it's hard to actually do your job. It's enough that Augments and Artifacts still have to be leveled from scratch; the lack of Skill Points is crippling and requires weeks of catch-up. Weeks upon weeks of grinding, when that is exactly what the players spent real-life money to avoid.

The CR boost should come with a greater number of feats unlocked. Simple feats that would be easy enough to earn, but time-consuming, entirely defeating the purpose of the Character Advancement. I'm not talking awarding free feats that require skill; I'm talking about awarding ones that strictly require grinding. Grant stuff like the 250 Challenges/Duoes/Alerts completed, the feats for styles available in the vault and as the teir gear they skipped over (though there's no need to actually award those styles), grant feats for completing Investigations, Briefings, and Collections (though there's no need to grant their style rewards). There are already a handful of feats that the game grants when using a CR Advancement, but only enough to get up to about 50SP. And there are a ton more feats that can be completed with zero skill required, strictly as a timesink. That is the stuff that should be awarded. Complete 250 Battle for Earth duos, Collect 100 different styles, tons of stuff that could and should be granted as a part of a Character Advancement.

Character Advancement should advance the character across the board. If the game wants there to be an option to pay money to skip the grind, then make it actually skip the grind, instead of skipping you ahead but leaving just as much of a grind in tact.

not that I disagree with the general idea here but I don't think it would be a good think to give away all the "grindy" feats, especially those attached to dlcs. kinda eliminates the need to get the episodes/buy membership.

BUT there are still feats they could utilize from the core game, like base item feats, pvp, legends (ik theres more but im blanking offhand) and I can attest that they did almost complete a few styles as well, wouldn't take much to finish those off. and this is my opinion but if for a 210 jump we should get a hundred sp.... so it wouldn't take much to get those last 10 sp or so.
  11. Brit Loyal Player

I don't see how it's really any different than allowing players to skip past those same Episodes with their CR. Dozens of Tier Gear suits that they don't have to have access to because they get to skip past all that content, past even the point where that content grants MoV. Whether they own a DLC or not, they are paying for the Character Advancement. And there are still tons of non-grindy feats that accompany each DLC. Things like "Nobody gets KO'd during Nekron" or "Nobody gets caught by Cerberus", those are the sort of feats that would not be awarded, so there would still be plenty of feats left to work for. I am strictly talking about the feats that require no skill, strictly time investment.

In any MMO, the vast majority of the population gathers at the endgame. That is why for virtually any MMO, basically all the new content will be endgame content, instead of new lowbie content for leveling. If you acknowledge that the goal of most players is to gather at the endgame, that most of your new players are being recruited via friends and they want to actually be able to play with those friends, and most of your CR Advancement are probably purchased by players who already have done that grind once and were turned off to the point that they are paying real-life money to avoid grinding again and allow them to skip straight to playing with their friends, then the feature that allows a player to advance their character without a lengthy grind, should actually accomplish this by allowing the player to advance their character without a lengthy grind.

A 210 advancement should come with a minimum of 150 skill points. The 50ish that it gives right now are not nearly enough.
  12. Alphabolt New Player

From ff14 they have like 7 roulettes which is a random dungeon or raid for any content to help new players in their duty finder with a specified role that the group is looking for which will entitle the role such as a tank to get exp bonus and money. On top of that there is a mentoring system for new players with old vets in like one channel where they can freely speak, its alot more new player friendly. Majority of the ppl that have played through every dlc with high sp are arrogant and i used to be one of them before I took a break. Its the nature of the sp system that will put off many players.
  13. Melusine Midnight Rainbow Phoenix

I started on March 14th of last year. I now have 351 sp. I have 2 friends that started the same week, one has 337 sp, the other has 309. I'm pretty sure I'm going to make my 365 in a year goal, too.

There's definitely grinding involved, but not an unrealistic amount. Oh, we play villain side btw. The supposedly dead side of the game where no one does old content, and yet...

i've always felt they should go back and edit many of the old dlc grind feats to reflect numbers new players will still have to grind for.

a good example of this is the ARC feat in the Inner (outer? its been so long forget whch raid...) raid. On my main it was easy enough to get the feat just by running the content when it was fresh and new without replays or feat unlocking. Same for my top alt.

when i decided to start "seriously" working on my healer alt (which was when Amazon Fury 1 went live) i tried to finish the feat off to no avail. Queue times are notoriously slow, groups dont care and just smash through as quickly as possible not letting the arc absorb a second or third ad. this was several years back...its only gotten worse.

the advice to join a helpful league sound good but the in game reality is there really arent any leagues like that out there any more. the ones who have enough players to form a raid are only grinding current content. requests to help or run old content fall on deaf ears in league chats just like they do lfg.

going back to my ARC feat instead of having to kill the arc after it absorbs x number of specific enemies just change it to "defeat the ARC 3 times". New players will have to run the raid a couple of times, it gives them a feel for how to work in a raid, gives them a realistic goal, it doesnt give them anything for free and it lets them successfully compete an old feat without having to jump through hoops for vet players.

only drawback to this is it would take time for someone to go back and go over all those old feats.

I still run old content and always try to do feats I already have to help out the lower levels in my group. Granted, a lot of those feats are accomplished simply by killing the boss super fast, but still.I do try to help them out.

The Skill Point system is still there but its also why it holds a lesser strength compared to pure stats from Gear and Artifacts. The game is now set so Stats from Gear are more important and the Skill Points now are a strong secondary method to increase stats. Yes Skill Points do matter but i wouldnt stress over them for new and returning players. Thats more an End Game thing to then work on getting Feats. Sure you can try and get them as you level up your CR but some of those old feats are certainly easier at higher level. I just did a Feat run with friends and leaguemates last night. Got them a few more Skill Points and felt good.

Even though it is a bit on the small side, those points cover the major stuff from the base game, a lot of it being content feats the player will have "outgrown" by jumping. Style feats? There's vendors for that, and the devs have never really handed out those style feats for free.

I think the difficulty comes with it being possible for a player to be able to buy a CR skip without having all of the episodes in the game. It'd be tough to justify handing out feats from content if the player is premium and doesn't actually own/have access to the content.

Now i really don't feel for you. Find a league bro. A buddy of mine took a two year break. I was a good 30sp ahead of him. Now I'm around 50 behind. He's somewhere around 440ish. Get to work.

I think the skill point system is ok... but the skip tokens are broken. They don't give enough skill points. They should include more skill points (probably ones from styles on the rare style vendors) or just come with a ton of replay badges so players can buy the feats and styles they've earned on other toons.
