is this game still playable??? Returning player

He everyone how's it going. So I was deciding on jumping back into the game and I was wondering if the game is still playable and ppl are still playing the game. I have been away for a while now I can't really remember the last DLC or what gear I have, I deleted the game a while ago, possibly a year back or so. I'm in a bit of a toss up because I enjoyed the game so much but I don't remember my league being active enough which is what moved me out. Any updates on how the game is going? If so please comment or PM me, thank you community!!

It's playable as long as you don't like PvP

It's still a great game. So much has changed you should catch up via the announcement threads. Too much to put down.

As long as you aren't a Arena PVP player and you aren't someone who prefers to be 100% complete with everything you will still find enjoyment in the game.

If you enjoyed Arena PVP stay away as that part of the game is a hot mess right now. If you like to have max skill points or anywhere close to it, stay away unless you have A LOT of in game cash or real money. By A LOT of in game cash I mean like 500 mill or more. They have turned feat hunting into a massive cash grab (in-game and real money) with limited time Events that you can't complete all the feats tied to it unless you utilize 100's of millions or replay badges. Welcome to DCUO 2017.

But if you truly don't care about those two things man I see no reason as to why you wouldn't have a good time playing the game again.

It's still playable but that will end when the stats revamp is released. The forthcoming new combat system is a radical reworking of the game that makes it feel like legends pve. So, enjoy the game while you can.

Gosh, you make me want to stop playing.

As others have stated, For pve if you was here around AMs, they're still here so same loadouts will be the same. Only powers that aren't viable dps wise is electric, nature, and quantum, but all roles are able to perform good varying player.

Pvp is disgustingly trash. From just powers being fotm, we have now went to there being a glitch for everything. Need a cancel out your BB so you can't get lunge- theres a glitch, afraid to get BB as soon as you block- theres a glitch. Also those who are playing on a pc platform, there have been high sightings of those who take advantage of the speed hacking since daybreak won't do anything about it.

You believe this game at the end of the day is a company and needs to make money, huh. Well the folks behind here will slap you with a hard reality check, with the new introducing of tc's(time capsules), limited events that have been made for you to not be able to get everything unless you want to replay, even if you do the events everyday. Be wary of the Tc because they are more bigger then it seems. In them are exclusive items that can be obtain through rng with odds HEAVILY stacked against you, or pay mulah. And there have been a new introduction of mod sockets that introduced things like reducing cooldowns, extra damage on move, supercharge back, which is all rng in the tc's and plans to be monetize with the stats revamp(i'll get to that later)

The devs have went back to large content. Though its confusing because the CEO -twice- of the place says they're going back to quartely, but the community manager says we're not going back to quarterly. So theres miscommunication between us and the devs there. But what I can tell you is they have confirm and basically stated that 'there are no schedule release dates for new dlcs' paraphrasing, but basically means they will release new content whenever they want but haven't changed the sub price.

OVERALL

Is it playable, yes. Is it worth it, no.(of course my opinion right? ) What I can tell you is we have been in the works of a new huge update called 'Stats Revamp'. technically going away from cr differential, Weapon Mastery, and AMs. Coming back to the days of creating ones own loadout, skill points mattering, and revamp of dpsing styles and role styles gameplay wise.

But what about the positives? Well, tough love for ya here, i think we have let small positives slide too many times here and let things past because they do alil something good after something majorly bad. Don't be a fool, be smart, observe your surroundings of the game and how things are working if you decide to comeback, and protect your wallet, at all cost. The devs are staring at her across the street, and they do not have a pleasant smile on their faces..

yes. if you like a no skill needed game. you got it. like paying (real money) for feats. yup, got that to. and a mepps said...when there ready. events...cant finish them with out replays. if you want all the feats. and the revamp...well, were just have to wait and see. most have nothing good to say about it. but, who knows...

You broke my heart with the "No Skill needed" comment.

Here I was thinking I was Awesome and all.

That's kind of what I figured that manpower that would normally go to episodes was being used for events. I wish you guys would keep quarterly episodes or at worst allocate 1-2 months of content development time per year to events and keep the episode pace near quarterly. I will give Starro a fair chance but seriously doubt it will be as satisfying as an episode.

Been here since Jan 2013. Still an enjoyable game. Some don't like it - for various reasons. Some do. To each his / her own.

I'd say jump in, ask questions and give it a go for 2-3 months.

Well ... The game is still fun, despite several errors that were not fixed and new that came up at this time ...
What worries me most in reality is the future of the game than today ...
I've always said that it has enormous potential!
However this potential is not being taken advantage of ... And this is what worries me ...

Its playable except on weekends when the servers randomly go down and the launcher stops loading.

Mon-Fri It's fine.

But do episodes have to be yearly? Sorry, but going from monthly. Almost like clock work to yearly with events sprinkled in is not cutting it. Events are free, for the most part. So you really didn't clear up anything except you'll release content when it's ready, but keep up those subs, right? SMH

Quantum is not as bad as people make it. It's ridiculous how hard people bash it. It's not OP Mental or anything. But it's not bad at all. Elec on the other hand...

I think the best "event" of PVP this year was the BUG where when leaving the legends, we were like villains being heroes and the opposite too!
There was that battle inside the tower among the heroes who became villains against the heroes who did not turn!
