I'll Be The One To Say It, But Wonder Girls New Face..

I'm not a fan of Cassie's current look but it goes beyond that. A lot of the updated character designs just don't look good. Donna Troy comes to mind. Weirdly placed bulging eyes. Most of them look like they're coming down after a weekend of hard partying or hve somehow contracted gout.

And in case someone might think this is some sort of glamour shot under ideal conditions, just hopped on and this is what she looks like out in Gotham Under Siege on test...

You have to admire the irony of comic book fans and gamers bullying a fictional character for being ugly. I guess next thing we'll hear is how she's not good at sports and can't get a date...

TBF she is a teen, and Superboy also looks younger again (both in the game and in the comics) so really this just makes her fit more with him and other Titans like Raven. Tim/Robin/Red Robin also generally looks younger again in the comics but his current model is probably too new to warrant a revamp so he'll probably be an exception unless they decide to do it just for cohesion (they did revamp Ocean Master twice, I guess).

I like most of the revamps other than not always being the design I prefer (like preferring Raven's classic design or the Teen Titans cartoon one or how I prefer Tim as Red Robin having the design with the cowl and bandolier and am annoyed at this design just being a Robin suit with an extra R and also because the other design is more distinct from the other Robins, but even with these preferences I recognize the models are good... though the styles based on them have been great for my character design needs so can't really complain lol). Only one that really bugs me, TBH, is Tala because they just.... randomly added a skirt to her and nothing else and I just.... don't understand why. Seems kinda unnecessary and random lmfao.

Respectfully that is not an appealing design. She doesn't have to look like a super model but that face looks deformed.

I still remember when Terra was introduced. Short, scrawny, almost no curves to speak of, pushed-up nose, huge buck teeth. Not a beauty queen by any measure. And she was quickly one of my favorites.

Funny thing about beauty: it's subjective. Ever hear the phrase "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"? It means that not everyone finds the same features attractive.

FWIW, I think her face looks fine -- for a bunch of pixels rendered by a 15 year old game engine.

The big difference in a game with a story involved and this game is that you have that chance to have a character develop into someone you'd like or dislike. In this game, a character will likely have about 30 seconds of cutscene dialog, NPC lines that are repeated constantly and if a mission giver, a single line of 'mission' dialog you will hear every day (or week) multiple times if running alts...for months. Now granted, there is some additional lore to be had in the comics and TV/Movies, but in just THIS game, pretty much what you see...is what you get. So if what you see is not pleasing...that 'character' is likely not going to be pleasing either. And I don't mean 'pleasing' like you need to run into the other room for some 'alone' time with yourself....but pleasing meaning like it doesn't make you go 'ugh' at first glance. And don't get me wrong....I'm sure some would go 'ugh' to the overly supermodel looking ones too. That's their opinion, and they aren't wrong....for them.

To be fair, the other pictures Mepps shared look perfectly fine, but that only really reinforces the fact that the first picture shown...which sounds like it was of a model NOT supposed to be out there...was 'bad'. So in the end, the OP isn't wrong(going off that picture)...even if the post was worded harsher than needed for today's climate.

EDIT: Honestly I have a bigger problem with the headphones glued to her head over any facial 'problems' that could be called out. I mean if you need to have something playing music constantly, has she never heard of airpods? Raycons?

And this is why I said it's subjective. I actually kind of like the way her face looks in the OP's picture. The ones Mepps showed us look a little too "uncanny valley" to me.

And yeah, the original post (and especially some of the ones agreeing with it, and that video) came off as sexist, as if a female character should only exist to look pleasing to them.

Yeah, especially given the character in question is a TEENAGE girl and really should not be expected to be hot. Cute/adorable, sure, but not hot. She is a child.

And characters NEED to look distinct and individual. It adds to their personality. Because subjectivity, that of course means some will be attractive to a given person and some won't, while others may have completely different senses of which ones are and aren't attractive. Even if they all looked exactly the same, which would be boring AF, not everyone would feel the same way about them, as you describe. I LOVE characters looking very different and distinct from each other and having all sorts of faces and bodies and it's not just because of diversity or "SJW" (god that term has had all meaning beaten out of it at this point) reasons but also simply because the variety is good and feels more immersive and life-like. In everyday life the people I see look all kinds of ways so it's more believable when characters are the same way. These differences add even more character to designs. For instance, even if you put them in the same outfit characters like Bane, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Titanic Trenton, Kaptain Kreul, Nightwing and Constantine all have very different feels to their designs because of their different bodies and faces. This is the main reason I wish the game had more body options, especially for female toons (the males have at least a bit more variation but they could still certainly use more options as well). It's also why I generally like when Wonder Woman has a stockier, beefier, more muscle bound body type because it adds to the whole warrior vibe. That's not to say versions that aren't that are "wrong". Just my personal perspective on her design. Plus, as with the Fable example, sometimes not being a stereotypical Disney Princess or Barbie looking character is kinda the point or even the joke.

I really hate this whole "waah, the woke mob is uglifying female characters by making them not all super hot by my personal standards" fit that's been going on lately and how every female character that doesn't look like a Disney princess is said to look like a man and/or ugly..... but I especially hate it when it's applied to literal children/teens/minors. Anyone throwing a fit over an underage character not being hot enough by their standards is an immediate red flag (and not just in that way) and definitely has some very unsavory views on women and gender roles.

They're noise cancelling so she doesn't have to listen to all of the people in proximity chat breathing heavily while chewing. There's only so many "MOOOOM! I NEED SNACKS!" you can hear before you just want to shut it all out.

People still use proximity chat? Wacky.
