How about I get your in game name and I answer all your questions through voice chat via mic? I an USPS4.

Also, for additional help on loadouts, I suggest reading the first few posts from myself, Apollion, and Keef. All great dps suggestions there

    clipping:

You can use a shield or heal ability without waiting for the animation of another ability to.finish.

So if you use Wintery tempest and reflect or another shield right after, you get both abilities but you only see the animation of the last one.

You can shorten weapon attacks the same way, but you can use any ability for that-- doesn't need to be a shield.

I personally do use avalanche in situations. Regarding freeze breath and Ava, they're pretty close in my book. The nuance part if it is each of the four hits on its own is higher than each of Ava's five. Similar to j/c a front loaded move. So depending on your rotation, if frost blast came off of cooldown already. I'll take the first two 6ks from freeze breath than the two 5ks from Ava, Jump cancel to go into the frost blast. Or if the adds ir boss about to die; j/c to another burst move. Even if Ava may win out if take both moves to their completion. (The 5/6 ks are just examples). Numberwise, I rather crit % on a 6k hit than 5k.

Breath's range is deceptively long (not as long as Ava). It does have better power cost and a pi applicator. The lower power cost affords more opportunity to jump cancel more if needed to go burst.

Minor observation: freeze breath freezes adds in place instead of Avalanche's juggle, I find Ava's juggle sometimes conditions a tank player to waste a group aoe pull because they think the adds will scatter, when in reality, it's more like quantum's air lift stun.

Imo, both channeling moves are closer than folks may think. If I see an ice player with freeze breath, I won't get annoyed or nothing. They could make it work; variety in playstyles. So many of Ice's top moves are channeling moves; the content favors burst in many situations, so a versatile cheaper (power), but solid dmg channeling freeze breath could make the roster.

I’m not saying is freeze breath is worthless, but it doesn’t parse as high as avalanche or gust. I don’t get annoyed with people and loadouts either. I’ve always believed people should play how they want. I have just tried to provide people with loadouts and tips to maximize their dps. That’s all I’m about is helping and providing my experiences. I’ve tested every power, iconic, and super speed powers. Freeze breath only hits four times whereas Ava and gust hit 5 times per cast. Now that may not seem significant but it adds up exponentially. For example, on three adds breath will hit 12 times Ava and gust will hit for 15 times. So freeze breath will lose dps exponentially with the more adds you are fighting. Once again though it’s your game play how you see fit

Yeah play from the tray is the current meta. You basically only use your weapon once you're out of power. I use the replenishment tactical weapon mod which gives a burst of power once every 20 seconds when you use your weapon. I basically only ever do weapon combo when I'm out of power and want that power boost from the tactical mod.

Clipping is when you use a power to cancel the animation of another power. It speeds up your damage. So basically hit wintry tempest and immediately hit reflect while you are in the middle of the the tempest animation. I've noticed my other toons feel super squishy in comparison to Cryoboy. Reflect is amazing.

I think a lot of these situatuonal loadouts like I was using with gust and the poster above mentioned with freeze breath mostly come into play running lower tiered content where adds often die too quickly to do a max damage rotation. The poster above even mentioned jump canceling incase he needed to get off a quick burst.

I think the separation here is just the content being run.

    Wow! Guys I love you! I tested everything you mentioned. I figured out that the following LO is the one that is worth the most;
    1. Tempest
    2. Frost Blast
    3. Boulder
    4. Reflect
    5. Avalanche
    6. Ice Elemental ( same LO, but on #6 I have blizzard)
With these abilities I am most of the times at the top DPS.
I also tested the melee ice DPS but the results were disappointing... Maybe I do something wrong, idk.
Avalanche is better than Freezing Breath as you can move while casting it and you can cancel it (sometimes) if you block.
That's all from me, thank you vm!

Hmmm. I do believe something is wrong on the melee side. Try using this 3 dot loadout and tell me what you think.

    Wintry Tempest
    Cold Snap
    Bitter Winds
    Ice Elemental
    Frost Slam
    Arctic Gust

The rotation is pretty self explanatory. Superpowered specced

    First 3 powers
    Freeze Wave
    Arctic Gust
    Freeze Wave
    Arctic Gust
    Repeat

Just replace ice boulder strike with arctic gust when you know you're running content with lots of easy to kill ads and you won't eve have a downtime on powers to use.

i just switched back to ice from earth. Was ice since beta and stuck with it til right after revamp. Back now and enjoying figuring it out. The cast and interruption of frost blast can get annoying tio u figure out the best times to use it and when u get used to it u will love it. Right now i go wintry clipped w reflection to ice boulder to frost blast then gust or avalanche as filler. Supercharge is def ice elemental and blizzard. Any more tips for wut to use while in IE form? And current thoughts on snow devil in a rotation?
  13. Apolloin Well-Known Player

Here is my melee loadout and I’ve like the results so far
    1. Tempest
    2. Cold snap
    3. Bitter Winds
    4. Gust
    5. Resonating Gale
    6. Ice Elemental

    Rotation:
    Tempest-Snap-BW-Gale-Gust-Gale-Gust-Gale repeat.
  14. Apolloin Well-Known Player

I like snow devil but if I put in my normal loadout I find that I consume a ton of power. So I stopped using it, but I like snow devil, especially when you have two summoned
  15. Balistical Ice Loyal Player

Ohhh, Im very interested in trying this. I do believe that Freeze Wave nets more damage though. I crit Freeze Wave around 19k, maybe more. Resontating Gale has a 3 average damage over time. I guess its good for keeping adds together. I wanna try it out though for sure
  16. Balistical Ice Loyal Player

I do run Snow Devil. But only for Alerts. And I never run out of power.

    Wintry Tempest
    Reflection
    Snow Devil
    Ice Elemental
    Impaling Ice
    Arctic Gust

Let me know what you think

    Rotation:

    Wintry clipped with Reflection
    Snow Devil
    Impaling Ice
    Arctic Gust 2x
    Impaling Ice
    Arctic Gust

    Repeat
  17. Apolloin Well-Known Player

I run alerts with frost blast, most of the time I’m running I have a tank. So I replaced reflect with snow devil so I had too many powers that were 300 powers in my loadout
  18. Balistical Ice Loyal Player

Its not a bad thing to run with Frost Blast. I just wanted something different for each armory. I needed to find a loadout for each armory that dors about the same dps dor each. Amd I did. And so far, I am loving each one because they are unique. You normally dont see people running the same loadout as me, and if you do, then they dont have the same rotation
  19. L T Devoted Player

I try to stick to my rotation more or less. Just don't get interrupted.

Since the revamp pets, snow devil included, are freakin awesome if you have no mods or skill points. The more skill points and better mods you have, the worse pets get, until they are decidedly meh.

If you want to go Weapon Mastery or hybrid, pets are good for that too, since they're CR based and don't scale with your might. Ice generally seems to do well going might-based though.
