I think the t8 duo black canary fight needs an adjustment.

    Why is duo content inherently meant to be easy? Why can raids be easy and sometimes difficult but alerts, duos and solos always have to be easy? If this was something like an official design principle of the devs I would somewhat understand it but since we just got a challenging duo it doesn't seem like it. All I see are players who decide that for some reason any instance with fewer than 8 group members is automatically not allowed to be challenging.

    Next week you will get new gear and maybe this duo will be beatable for you. If not, then you will get even more new gear the month after that and most certainly a few nerfs down the line. Then in a few months there will be another global content rebalancing and this duo along with the DWF raid will get nerfed to be trivial for new players so they can catch up easily, just as it has happened to every difficult content we've had.

    Level of reward is supposed to be in direct correlation to group makeup and lockout.
    Solo content is supposed to be balanced around the mid to low level of gear quality. Originally was supposed to be the steps to the end.
    Duo content is supposed to be balanced around the mid gear any role. Not quite soloable, but the more gear you get the better you can complete it.
    Alerts are supposed to be balanced around 1 of every role and mid level of gear to complete. With a daily lockout, it is supposed to be at least easier to complete with some level of skill.
    Raids are supposed to be balanced around 2 of every role and mid level to low high gear to complete.

    The solo and duo content didn't change in design of how to complete it, but alerts and raids did when gear went to replay badge sinks via RnG. You no longer stepped up through content to run the best content. What also changed alerts is 4 DPS makeup and roleless buffs. Then add CR Differential to the mix...

    tl;dr They can't sell replay badges if the many dps can't complete the content.

    I think the root of the problem is that the hero's side can breeze through the fight with out blinking. The GCPD adds on the villans side will murderRange you in a few seconds. I have seen 2 experienced players come in and use supply drops, soders, orbitals and skilled AM usage and still take 5 wipes to finish.

    Some of it is luck if you get too many commanders and snipers... boom you are dead.

    I've ran with level 154 toons and breeze through, and on that same toon with a 164^ have wiped 1-2 times before beating it. I've been stun locked until death before, or had Black Canary jump right into the middle of adds.

    Black Canary is more annoying to fight due to her interupts.

    The villain side is usually harder then hero side. The developers even said it at one time which ironically was in the regal hotel when I think they were showing off Quantum.

    But there are a few places that are/were harder hero side like Strike Team and the Valentine's Day event

    There's the problem. Make easier content to sell replays -> players get conditioned to expect easy content -> make moderately challenging content -> players complain. I wouldn't even mind easy solos and duos if we still had that old solo->duo->alert->raid progression but nowadays it's gone and we don't get challenging small group content at all. For all I care most of the game can be easy as long as we get some guaranteed hard content regularly, in all group sizes. That's why people have called for elite solos and duos.

    Hard content inevitably gets easy with time but easy content always stays easy (unless the devs break something and make it OP by accident;))

    OMG. If you can't beat the duo with a pug, DON'T QUE FOR IT. Shot for a partner or something. You can't call nerf just because you won't take actions on your end to make the duo easier. On the villain and hero side, sorcery can almost one shot that fight with the super charge. Get the neck mod that makes your block stronger. Go in with a troll, heal, or tank. I mean cmon. Home much have you done on your end? Saying it's easier with two dps and it's hard to communicate with a random pug is not a reason for a nerf.

    Roleless buffs were right before T4 launch. Replays were right after, if I remember. DPS is the biggest problem. But okay.

    Also with the way monthly content is setup, we don't get the stepping progression. Matter of fact, we get the elite raid at the start. They haven't done stepping since BFE when you got T2 duos, T3 alert, and T4 raids.

    I didn't say anything about dps but actually the duo should be able to be completed by any roles. The Villian version is completely unbalanced compared to the catwoman fight. Its the black adam and superman situation all over again. Heroes always seem to get the easier content. I do alot on my end, with my quantum toon i stun the adds , i use supplies, orbital and cola but the adds are hard hitting on the Villian side and it causes wipes.

    I'd argue we had stepping content in Origin Crisis although we all know how that turned out. Apart from the loot and bug problems maybe it might have been more popular if Nexus had been easier and more accessible for the average or more casual player.

    Roleless buffs should never have happened imo. Pretty much all of the changes of the last few years from Roleless buffs to AMs have led to the 4DPS alerts and 5111 raids we see today, and to people instantly leaving a duo when they see a supporter.

    I know we aren't getting that anymore with monthly. Putting the elite raid at the start wasn't even a bad move in my opinion, the reasoning was good. But apart from that I (and I think others) am not all too happy with content and gear level distribution in this system. The only real use of running duos now is to catch up new/alt characters and maybe farm some marks. I'd like to see only 2-3 raids within six months and more solo and alert content instead, with, to get back to the topic, some of it being legitimately challenging mechanics-wise.

    You can assert that there was stepping, but doesn't make it true. There was no step between the alerts and the raids. Nothing bridged the gap needed. The vendor gear stopped way short of gear needed to beat the raids on launch. The best gear you could get in the alerts was so rare that you could get a full set of 85 before you see a single piece. Not anything like the old method of the gear in the raids helped you get through the raids. It really was not something that had steps to help. But that's neither here nor there.
    Roleless buffs should not have been in the game, but now we have them and until they remove them, we wont have development made w/o them in mind.
    At lot of the callenge is due to the CR Differential. I can say the same for DWF, but I wont go further as it's a touchy subject.

    I found this duo more challenging to duo than to solo. Doing this with a random (and even with league mates), the strat automatically becomes to get into a shootout against Black Canary. At least with a league mate, you know what you're getting into.

    Duty Queuing into this, the other guy will usually leave after 2 wipes which is fine by me. I can tag Canary with a few EMP's, farm blues off the ads and clear them, rinse and repeat til done. Though the Elite Marksman is BS in that they can hit you for 5k a pop lol

    The hero side is easier though. You can basically carry a lemming through it.

    Literally the only change I would make is to remove/nerf the Elite Marksman. I've taken an 160cr through the Catwoman fight after someone else had failed to before leaving, and I've straight up soloed Zatanna. I'm not that bad a player, honest xD

    That's why I said apart from the loot problems. It was certainly meant to be staggered (and I think they said as much in their streams about it) but the loot distribution in the vendor and all instances was flawed. Nexus and PW were not meant to be done with T4 gear, they were meant to be geared up for.

    Never said anything else. It's the same for replays, AMs and most of the other controversial game additions although their backpedaling on CR differential sets a precedent.

    Of course it is, just like a lot of the challenge in the past was due to sheer stats. Which is why I'm calling for challenging mechanics instead. If I want to be challenged by stats alone I can just skip a few months and enter the next cycle with minimum CR. Even against HH Canary it's mostly the high NPC damage but there are a few things we can do to beat it apart from simply gearing up which is why I don't think it should be nerfed.

    Before, when the adds wouldn't reset it was a royal pain with extra adds to fight through to get to Black Canary if you had a wipe. Now that I have better gear, I am able to take her out fast and don't have to worry about the adds.
    But you cannot go in there undergeared, the adds will steamroll you. You need a plan and if you do not have a duo partner who is helpful you probably will not beat it. The duo is fine as is and doesn't need adjusted in my opinion.
    Plus, if you can't handle the duo, how are you going to handle the alerts and raids that will hit so much harder?

    I don't think it needs to be adjusted after the fact, just remove the dang CR Differential. If the adds in the villain version are more aggresive than the hero version, which can kill you just by a few taps at 167, then something should be done. Which is remove the dang CRD. They promised it and we only saw a glimpse of it in Feb. Why haven't it been returned to on test?

    Probably because they got the answer to how much work would be needed: a heck of a lot. There's no easy switch to flip and frankly, it'll probably undo at least half of what power balance they've managed to cobble together.
