Well, if you're into conspiracies - why stop believing now? He could be using a sock account and argue with himself, just to get gullible people off his trail, so they stop suspecting he's a secret operative, paid by Daybreak, to white-knight for the company against righteous anger of smart and powerful forum dwellers, who would otherwise be able to force the devs to make Blue Lantern powerset and fix PvP...

    In for a penny... :p

Typically MMO rely on 2 types of system for loots. Years ago dcuo has both implemented at the same time and it was terrible lol.

The first is an RNG based system. Where instances aren’t loot locked but instead the best gear is obtained directly from the instances at low drop rates. So players would need to spam the instances to get said items. And then these items are split between the different instances of the dlc/expansion. So you’d need to run all content in order to get max gear.

Then there is the currency system, which dcuo uses. Where you run the content in order to get currency to buy said gear.

You’ll often see some level of overlap between the system. But generally doing both at the same time is not ideal. Imagine if the chest gear you needed came from the raid. The drop rate would be adjusted based on the expected time to complete was. If there was a loot lock for example it would mean you could only do it weekly or by resetting. So the drop rate would be like 5%. But if no loot locked existed. They would modify the drop rate based on how long they want it to take to get it. Could be 1% drop rate, .5% or even .05%.

The currency/loot locked basically just equates to that time as a currency. They want it to take let’s say 3 weeks to get enough marks to buy the chest so they price it based on how many marks said dlc offers. If there’s 1 raid the price is lower, but if a dlc has 2 raids the cost increases. This can be seen in the dlc vendors.

So whether there are 2 currencies, no loot locks, or whatever direction they decide to go. Cost would be adjusted based on how long they want it to take to complete.

This is a given for sure, but again, having fun, having good content would be much better than sitting in the same content over and over 1 time per week. Let us farm, let us do something. I mean look what happened witth the new elite rings and such, give us crafring materials from raids instead to be able to craft the gear we want along side currencies for required materials, plans, omni stuff etc

They're also tradable and available on the broker. That's where I've gotten most of mine.

One thing that I keep seeing is people mad about how they have to pay if you missed the campaign. I play streatfighter 6 and I play final fantasy 14 and other games like Diablo. All have campaign and events and all make it where you either don't get the rewards if you don't play or they make you wait a year then you can pay . This is a common practice and in dc case it's not pay to play because all you had 2 do was log in and do 1 piece of content. This is how campaigns work and its your own fault you didn't do it.

People on this game gotten so used to complaining to get stuff they missed that they feel entitled to it a guess. Also stop going to the forums for game updates and communication. Dc uses discord and social media to do announcements and you can find out more about what is what if you just give up on thinking they care about this forum. FYI they said the dev league will be the main testers and that public servers will be used rarely. This week bonus is 20% off upgrade tab stuff and cr skips btw

Not sure you’re as familiar with this system as you claim to be. Yes other games have campaigns, battle passes, etc. yes it’s common to offer a buy out for said things. However what’s not common is to offer something that gives a statistical benefit to performance within a system that limited time only. Not to mention that dcuo already has multiple “limited time only” features. You have the “battle pass” style login reward which they continue to remove features into to implement them in other systems in order to increase the value of said other features.

Removing the 21 day reward cosmetic items in order to add them into a second event campaign is not right. Removing the fragments from the days leading up to the 21 days and then readding them as the 21 day reward in order to simulate value when those were already part of the 21 days seems right?

Adding iconic abilities that are amongst the strongest abilities in the game as a campaign reward to get players to pray on players FOMO is good? After the campaign is over will the only way to get these items be to buy out? “It’s your fault if you missed it” is a very ludicrous way to view this. Anything that has a statistical advantage should never be tied to limited time only or buy out options. Anything that gives a performance advantage should be able to be obtained through the games base features.

I knew dc hr would comment. I have alot of experience 22000 hour on dc. 6000 hour on final fantasy and more x2 your betaplayer But as I really don't like you i'v said what o said and your opinion does matter but again neither does mine

Calling me a dc HR as a reply to me calling out bad practices the devs are doing in a thread I made pointing out bad decisions the devs have done? Interesting.

But you’re thing to say you know better because you have x amount of hours? How what hours played have to do with pointing out bad practices? Unlike you I’m actually a business owner, have actual experience in the field of marketing, and have run actual business campaigns. For all I know your 22000 hours was spend sitting in the watchtower telling everyone how awesome you are. Bad practices are bad practices.

Only addressing this part. From observation there might have been a shift:
    1. The Springtime announcement included (quote) "Stay in the loop by joining us on BlueSky, X, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and Discord." No mention of the official forums.
    2. Voltera answering a question on Discord that was not then communicated to the forum to correct misunderstanding there.

However just as two swallows don't make a spring (ahem), 2 indications of something up at the mill aren't definitive proof of a change. So do you have more information to share to back your perspective on this?

IMO, if this is where the devs and management want to go, then we deserve to be informed. Personally I hope not as I find Discord a disorganised mess (even the official forums). I'm about to deactivate X for service related reasons and don't have a BlueSky account, the "discussion" on the official Facebook page isn't worth reading, my Insta is only for following people I know etc.

I agree. I couldn't stand Discord the few times I tried to use it. Twitter and Facebook are cesspools (and I deleted my accounts with them years ago). I've never used Instagram, and see no reason to start. And Bluesky only seems to be used for advertising DCUO's MP sales; at least, that's all that ever shows up in my feed. On the other hand, they have this lovely forum, which even has different categories, for posting different kinds of things. Seems a shame to waste it.

Most social platforms give me anxiety, I left most of them because I was tired of feeling angry and sad all the time - I only use YT, this forum, and sometimes Discord (same opinion as yours). As much as forums overall feel outdated to me, I don't think social media is the answer.

Just replying to this part as I'm not familiar with a LOT of other game's practices, but I don't see how putting the same info here as on X, Discord...whatever...is some big ask. Copy/paste the message into announcements, or put a link to the X post on the main page...something they used to do quite often. It's not really unreasonable to think that since you DO have a forum set up, you'd put information there.

As far as the testing goes, if they continue to roll out buggy, untested content it only hurts the game. No one wants to trudge through a bunch of bugs the first month of a new release, and I'm sure some people could bail out if it's buggy enough. I get they want to limit the amount of info people get about a new episode, and that people play testing artifact loadouts and sharing that info basically means less 'trial and error' purchases by the players, but there should be some in-between point where they can still properly test things...get some useful feedback...and launch a better product on release day.

Probably the same thing they did with Recruitment, they're planning on limiting forums to only technical issues (like bug reports) or getting rid of them altogether. And I hate that, because Discord is just a bunch of chat channels, it's not substantial, it doesn't appear on search engines, it's...not relevant.

I have DIscord...I hardly use it. Yes....it reminds me of trying to read and absorb a live chat on a twitch stream. A bunch of mixed up chats all jumbled together...you can pull a nugget out here and there, but for the most part...it's noise.

I took at break at Thanksgiving and from reading what you said about the current state of the game that break may stretch on longer.
