I love DCUO so can you remove the stat clamp already?

ah okay, I don't think I've ever queued for dungeons over there so I never came up against that. I usually just ran pre formed or did them solo/duo so that was news to me :D

Not that I'm "hanging my hat" on this notion...

    But:

    1) There ain't that much difference between the two of ya.

    2) If I were to assume that you were trying to pull off multiple accounts.... I would assume that you would put in little differences in your responses to foster the charade.

That post was mostly just spleen-venting and not actually providing any potential solutions, as I said in the last line.

As I've said multiple times, almost every problem comes from player-base issues. No matter of clamp adjustment is ever going to fix that. Most reasonable people understand this at some level, even if they don't want to admit it.

When I said accessibility, it was stating the frustration of players (like myself), that can't even get into some of the content because people won't do it - player base issue. That was the problem then, and it's the problem now. And as the game gets older, it will become the problem with more and more situations.

I never said that the instances not popping was related to the clamp. It's totally related to the player base not wanting to do them, which just stems from the frustration with the player base. And that was really my only actual potential suggestion, which you reiterated in your post. Change the reward system in the hopes that people might be more willing to run content. Also possibly institute a harsher penalty for fishing, that way people might not do it quite as much. People fish because they can, there's no penalty for doing it except a 1 minute deserter, which doesn't even always pop here recently i've noticed.

Like I said, except for a very small number of instances, I've never been able to even get in to those. I did Area 51 on an alt years ago when it was the level 10 (or 20?) instance. I've never done Oolong, and from what people have said to me in game and writeen on the forums here, I probably never will without some major change because it just takes too long, and it is the same with Kahndaq. It's also why I've been trying to work on soloing walk-ins where I can (like ACE chemicals or Arkham Asylum) to see if I can at least get some things completed. I've not been successful yet, but I'm still trying. But then there are the instances that don't have walk-ins, which still leaves you up to the mercy of the player-base.

As I said before as well, I'm neutral to the clamp. It's here and not going away. However, I would love a way that you could queue in and not have a full group. It is definitely easier to find 3 others than 7 to fill a raid (and I'm sure a lot of alerts can be with a duo or trio), and from what I understand, with a little effort, a lot of the content doesn't need a full group anyway.

People sound the same when they agree with each other and therefore express their view in a similar fashion, it's not rocket science and you're over thinking it all.

The issue you're talking about was to be partly solved with omnibus.

When you custom queue the remaining slots in what you need are supposed to be filled by others using omnibus.

The trouble though is people keep fishing omnibus and abandoning queues because they don't want to help people like you in the difficult instances that they feel doesn't adequately provide enough reward.

There's 2 ways to fix that

    1. Heavily penalise people abandoning queues, presently it's a minute, I would change this so that every time you abandon a queue an extra minute is added (increasing it further if the negative behavior continues)

    2. Increase the reward in instances that take longer, you shouldn't be getting 10 marks in necro for example and still only 10 in MoM.

I would be doing both of those.

I agree with increasing the rewards, but you better increase the Omnibus rewards as well. I assume most people who decline a que are looking for the weekly reward boxes. There is no other reason to run it. If you need source marks join a group, if you need feats que the instance. The weekly reward boxes do not give you enough to warrant a penalty beyond what you get already. Increase and even less people will bother. (But I thought this would fix it, guess we were wrong on that one.) I will admit the clamp isn’t bad, but it is just not fun. I won’t argue the merits of the clamp (yes I am an anti-clamper), but everything that has happened in the last year has completely disenchanted me with the game. Subscribed from day one, unsubscribed last November. I haven’t spent 1 dollar on this game since then. I play less, don’t care about feats even though I have a measly 630 (I know I am not a top player). The entire game now feels like a grind, so add a penalty that seems smart. A game that punishes players will soon be without players, when there are other places to spend your money. Your solution is part right, but penalties will only divide the community more. But why not 174 pages shows how divided we are.

You can mark BBS up to 50 marks a run, I still wouldn't run it in a random group. I'd form an 8 man group and hit it for a guaranteed quick win....and so would everyone else.

What would happen is that those run would become 50% of the Omni pops as people who want the marks (potentially) would queue it hoping for a carry/assist. They'd be disappointed most times, but then people would be in there complaining about all the BBS runs that pop in omni and end up in failure.

Random=more problems. This is why I avoid randomness as much as possible.:D
  10. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

Like a 10 min 'opt out' timer? Go for it. People will just form groups more...which ultimately defeats the purpose of omni. I already never bother with blind queuing duos, don't almost ever run alerts without a full group, raids would not be that much more of an issue, and 1 10 min opt out would make the time in LFG worth it to build a group.

I'd say make it an hour.;)

I will 100% back any idea which helps destroy omni...and both these ideas will. More marks in 'bad' runs....longer 'deserter'....sounds good.

PS....better factor in disconnects for that timer. Or good luck getting anyone to go to PC or DM where disconnects are rampant.

reducing our cr would be fine IF queue'd through Omnibus itself but we she should keep our own cr if queue'd through custom play, trying to get a few older raid feats is just annoying now

    To be honest..
I had no idea my post would turn into a festival, i mean.. 3.5k comments / 100k views.. I don’t think I have the mental capacity to even attempt to go through all that.
I only created this post to let off some steam, I’m still on my break from this game anyway but decided to login into the forums 2 months later and see what’s happening, i expected 3 comments at best but this.. this is just next level crazy lol

Ive tried suggesting queue penalties but the responses are clear. People want to be able to queue fish. Id say youd get 2 chances to decline an instance before you accept the 3rd or get a 30 minute penalty.

spend 5 seconds thinking about it. All new players would choose unclamp to have you carry them through it for e-z feats and gear.

Its asking for the old system back without making it seem like thats what youre asking for.

    These are not "compromises"

Why would i run clamped if its far easier and far faster to do it unclamped and still get the same rewards? For years people complained about cluelessness at endgame. And now that something was done about it, Now we want to undo that work because some people want to 1 shot things but also dont want to deal with clueless players they themselves helped produce

What has been suggested multiple times in this thread is that the unclamped version would offer no rewards.

THAT is compromise,... That IS not the same.
  18. the solowing Unwavering Player

Cool so it won't have feats in the unclamped version either.

I could get behind this alternative.

Make clamp optional but unclamped has no feats, no rewards.

Gives the anti-clamp crowd a venue to flex their egos, wouldn't affect queue times/quality of the content/spirit of the game. I'm down.
