We've all seen this probably before. You're browsing the broker and you see that catalysts or collection or even material for dirt cheap and you swoop in and get it. I've gotten insanely cheap items on the broker over the years I'm pretty sure they were mistakes in pricing. They should've added more zeros to the end but they pressed the OK button too soon. I just got a bunch of Nth metal caches for like pennies and either the seller doesn't know what they're for or their controller had a seizure and sent it thru too soon. Or the seller was just too tired and yawning they didn't count too well. Anyways I always feel bad when I get a total steal of a deal because things like that have happened to me in the past and I'm now totally double checking my pricing on high priced items. Who cares if you sell a paltry couch for a hundred dollars? You'll get one again soon enough. But sell a Legendary Alliance for 100 bucks my accident? Yikes
I always sell low on stuff, mainly because I just want to get the stuff gone. LOL So who knows, if you're on PS/PC you might have snagged some of my deals.
I do the same thing; I call it "Dollar Bin Broker Discounts". If I need to get rid of something, I'm pricing it to sell quickly (usually at $1). If I need to make money, I will undercut all listings and still end up with a good amount of money.
I generally mad undercut things I see as overpriced...I want to make sure they sell vs come back. Not $1 or $100 generally, but sometimes 80%+ off on a 'high' ticket item. But I do also avoid brokering once I get tired. The chance of mis pricing something is too high with the default being $1. Yeah, but unintentionally mis-pricing sucks. Worst feeling in the world putting something 'high priced' in the broker and seeing the mail icon light up 1/2 a second later. "Uh oh...I think I forgot a zero or two"
whenever I see something grossly underpriced I buy it and resell it. especially when people sell stacks dirt cheap i'll purchase them and resell them individually.
I usually always sell under-priced stacks of stuff. I make a killing doing that (running 4 characters, so I collect enough). But if I see something super low, I'll buy and resell.
On PC selling multiple items: "For sure I already put a copy of this for sale, so it will just auto-complete the price and I can press the button quickly". Reality: Sells the item for $1 because it was the first time selling it. On PS selling items: "Oh, nothing could go wrong with this bunch of dionesiums, I will just quickly press the button". Reality: Receives a email on the middle of it, UI bugs, brain is too slow to stop mashing buttons in time, sells Speed Force Collector for $1, loses over half a billion
Question: What is the purpose of pressing the buttons quickly? I always take my time when using the broker.
Yeah that UI twitch when something new comes in the mail is a real bugger. It's caught me a few times, luckily not for half a billion though.
When Im selling low price items like exobytes and catalysts I just want to finish it as quickly as possible. Same goes for having like 30 Dionesium and having to sell them 1 by 1
Best feeling in the world!! I basically live my DCUO life for that feeling, lol. So many steals/good deals out there... and it really isn't as simple as saying "these are mistakes" anymore. For example, every 1st of the month you'll likely see lots of "Dionesium x5" for $1. Clearly from the daily reward system, and clearly from players who just don't care. Likewise, those cheap Alliances you see from time to time are from players who get them from the newer raids and likewise, they just don't care. Aside from that, some players do giveaways of sorts. I see it all the time. They'll put up an emblem for cheap, then a style, then an aura, then a collection, etc. Could go on for a couple of minutes or for a while. Then there are the shenanigans. Certain players need quick cash for "reasons" and they'll put massive bulks of items for cheap or they'll list rare items for relatively cheap in quick succession. Liquidation if you will. You can easily flip most of this stuff for massive profit, but it'd take you a while. The broker's a wild and wonderful place - I love it!
i usually list my goods for about two thirds of the going rate. you'll always know it's mine because i always use sixes and nines. i still don't worry about in game cash but times have changed. i don't bother with "chump change" but I won't list my rarities on the broker either and i hate to trade... funny to think I bought one of my cosmic materials off the broker for like 40 million dollars or so.
Very similiar to me! 80% or less of lowest and, generally, its sequential lowering numbers - e.g. $786543 if lowest is 1 mill etc - it is a habit now in how I type quickly in broker - it also helps me get the right anount in - like posters above have said 0 seperators would be ideal. I have a an ok amount of money but am super weary of trading so getting ultra rares gives me anxiety lol
Generally thats fine and just how the world works. However.... ...sniping those items on purpose by camping the broker for several hours a day is just mean. My biggest goof was to sell 20 Nth metal detectors for the price of one because i didnt pay attention that i selected the whole stack.
