I installed DCO thinking I would give it a try. Bought a DLC. Went thru the 30 levels, and the basic campaign only to find out some really crappy facts about this game.

Firstly this game is not free to play, its free to try. You can't pay-wall lock stuff you grind for in game and claim to be free to play. Escrow and lock boxes are bad, worse considering I was a 'premium' member because I actually did buy content but still had general loot items locked behind a pay wall. On the matter of escrow, 5.00 USD just so I can access all my characters cash for a week, and only a week??

Secondly, the content setup combined with the bugs is bad as well. I now have DLC content I can't access because I need higher level armour. I can't get the higher level armour because of the escrow cap, and because my weapons are not working in the alerts I need to get marks and to refill my cash to its limit. The bugs I can understand, all games have bugs. But no one on the dev team thought. "Hey their paying for content, lets scale the content to the players so everyone will be more interested in buying and playing it." or "Maybe we shouldn't make the escrow so low for our content buying players, that they can't easily buy the armour they need to play the content."

I'm done, Maybe if the dev's rethink premium accounts, some of their 'free to play' marketing, and fix a few bugs ill consider that absurd 19gb install again.

I don't see the bug. If you just read what the DLC had to offer you would know you need a certain amount of CR to access it.

I'm pretty sure that no gear costs more than the premium cash cap of $2,000. But I suspect that you have PvP weapons seeing as they're not working in alerts.

I'm inclined to think that DLCs should mention what is required to get to the required CR. i.e. to get to 100 you need either DLC x or y, and also DLC z.

you'll get a lot of hate for your post. it is a little silly unfortunately.

firstly, every free2play game has content that you pay for. EVERY. you do not get the max experience unless you pay for it either a la carte or with some form of subscription. this game is no different. there is no game out there that isn't charging for their product or it wouldn't last long. citing it as a flaw or complaining about it is just silly.

secondly, the content is setup so that each DLC is essentially sequential progression past level 30. this is noted in most of the detailed information on each DLC. it will state that a specific CR is required to use that content. it is your responsibility as a consumer to research what you purchase. i can't imagine you purchasing a car expecting to drive it if you didn't have a drivers' license. same thing here. that is simply how the content is setup. the structure has evolved somewhat to progress through tiers so that each specific DLC is not needed to progress and any DLC in that tier is instead needed to progress but that again would be up to you as a consumer to look into.

to help in your progression, you will play the core vanilla game up until Tier3. the khandaq raid is Tier1, the Batcave raids are Tier 2 and the Fortress of Solitude raids are Tier 3. you will progress from levelling to Khandaq to the Batcave raids and then to the Fortress raids. from there you must begin to purchase DLCs to progress your character and Combat Rating (or CR) becomes your new "level".

    Vanilla DCUO
    Tier1 (CR43)
    Tier2 (CR53)
    Tier3 (CR63)

    Tier 2 (CR53)
Fight for the Light is DLC1

    Tier 2.5
    Lightning Strikes is DLC2

    Tier4 (CR70)
    Battle for Earth is DLC3
Last Laugh is DLC4 (you can ignore this one for PVE progression because it's focus is PVP).
    Hand of Fate is DLC5
    Home Turf is DLC6

    Tier 5 (CR86)
    Origin Crisis is DLC7
    Sons of Trigon is DLC8
War of the Light is DLC9

    Tier 6 (CR100)
    Amazon Fury is DLC10
    Halls of Power is DLC11
War of the Light II is DLC12 ...

yes there are bugs in this game. but they are mostly benign annoyances. you made no references to the bugs in the game so it's difficult to address beyond that.

however, it sounds as though you're equating the cash cap with a bug. it is not. the game has specifically been designed to flow a player's cash in the way it does. the developers have been very open about intending the cash cap to; not prevent, but provide, friction to a player and incentivize subscribing rather than playing as a premium or free player.

it's a shame that you're leaving without really understanding the flow and structure of the game. that said, if there is a real complaint in the game from you post, is that the game is still doing a poor job of messaging progression out of leveling and continuing through DLCs leading to your dissatisfaction and negative experience.

Free to play games have to make money, too. Dcuo is a great bargain, in my opinion. Free to download and from there you can do whatever you want, money-wise. Maybe if you understood the game a little better, you'd keep playing it.
