I i always find that my main attack ( tap triangle 3x, then hold it) takes too long to set up, so i always end up getting interrupted in a 1v1. So what do you people use to avid this, do you melee attack? Or am i missing out on a special skill that takes less preparation? Thanks
Seriously, though, if you use ranged attacks with bow in PvP (especially lair), you'll get destroyed, unless your opponent is terrible. If you must use bow, stick with melee attacks most of the time. Personally, even in healer and troller stance, I melee in PvP.
Ironically, bow is horrid at ranging in pvp. Long draw and Flurry shot take too long and if you jump cancel or clip them, you're still susceptible to lunges. Arrow storm and explosive arrow leave you wide open, the latter being the safer move. My advice is to use a different weap if you can, or stick to impact arrow (tap range>tap melee or tap,tap range>tap melee) and the melee tap tap hold combos. Use explosive arrow (range hold+forward) for your BB, but you gotta be quick or you'll get punished.
Like they said, most people will see a bow and go to town with the lunges....since you know this, take advantage. Use the bow as a melee, it's actually rather effective, then when you see the block coming, forward hold triangle and clip the attack, this will block break and get you into position to combo them when they hit the ground.
Its not the wepon but the player.. Practise makes perfect.. so get a wepon and master it some are easier to master than others.^^ Greets dibrie
While it's true that Bow isn't preferably the best choice of weapon for pvp in most cases, it can be pretty beast 1v1 if you know how to use it since 1v1 is mostly mindgames/block breaks. tap 2 hold (arrow fling) is really quick and can be good damage, especially when clipped right. Best part about bow though is Long Draw (hold triangle)- takes a while to get used to but it block breaks during it's animation duration (as opposed to one handed/staffs block break where you have to release it in order to break the block). Takes some getting used to but the other great thing is that you can quickly cancel out of the long draw animation with normal square attacks if you don't get the block break right away and it might be hard for your opponent to see it and try to get a lunge off. Even though the youtube community is pretty **** here, check out American Hero from SoL. He uses a bow and is pretty decent with it. youtube(dot)com/watch?v=TPNfy-P2Q14&list=UUdAC4aYe-8f31qq3clFF9iw&index=24
I typically /bow before and after matches, especially Lair Battles. I don't think bowing in open world is really necessary, though I have seen it.
I'm primarily PC player but I've played on US and EU PS and there are some pretty good bow users out there. It's the psychlogical aspect of it, because it's a rarely used weapon someone who's mastered it will give someone with little or moderate knowledge of it trouble. Which was the case with me but after a while you get the pattern, I've used it with ICE in DPS stance and it was pretty cool. But I'd suggest you first understand the fighting mechanics of PVP don't simply change weapon because your struggling. No one can give you a step by step strategy because you'll become predictable through repetition. Just keep using it and adapt and learn. Those who are saying lunge, against someone who knows what they are doing good luck being on your back most the fight.
Bow is really good in 1v1s, if you dont use the range attacks. Dont EVER do flurry shots(tap triangle 3x, hold) in 1v1s, any decent player will see it coming asoon as you tap range once. Every tap triangle after the first one is also interruptable.
Remember tapx3 hold triangle isnt the only way to do flurry shot , you can do out of the tap square x3 hold tringle does a flurry shot too
True, I wouldn't even use flurry even if I was blue, by the time you get it off you become vulnerable again. The interruption window is just too long to get it off against anyone that knows the counter system.
