If the glitch is being able to keep the fan up by switching targets like you can do with hand blasters pulse beam it is a glitch. They had fixed/broke fan already to address that issue. I say broke because fan use to have 3 ticks of damage to it thru its animation. Now it just has one tick to it but we get stuck in the long animation anyways. If they do mess with it again, lets hope they give us back the other two ticks of damage and fix fan. Yes we may still lose those two ticks by canceling out of it ourselves to keep the speed of our combos up. But, at least it will be our choice to lose those two ticks of damage.
Glitch what glitch? Oh what they are talking about, basically when you activate snap trap then fan on more the 3+ adds an wiggle the stick on the target system the fan moves to each one which it has been doing for a long time, it's not very accurate and doesn't work every time just different situational spots, but cause people have been using it on nexus 1st and last boss (yes PVE lol) the haters are calling it an OP glitch, when imo it's just a nice little range buff for HL in which it has needed for since like forever, like I said its not very accurate and doesn't work at most times, but I suppose HL deserves a Nerf cause its been soooo long since the last.

The only reason why I say glitch is because the devs changed fan because of that. But, who really knows if it is a glitch. Like I said you can do the samething with hand blasters pulse beam. I can keep that for as long as there are adds on the screen to switch to. Great way to build power for a troll or healer. But back to my point. If you can do it with hand blaster reason would think fan would be ok too. So, once again. The only reason why I said glitch was because the devs changed it and said it was not working as intended.
Kinda a difference though. Pulse beam acts as a channeled power, with it having multiple ticks of damage through the duration. Fan on the other hand has a frontloaded damage tick. Which is why it's standard to jump cancel it, you get the tick right away then the channeled part is purely the pull. So when you bounce from target to target with handblasters pulse beam it simply continues the small ticks of damage. Fan resets and does it's single big tick over and over. Basically it makes it into a damage over time doing 400+ damage per tick. While the mechanics are the same the effect is different due to differences in the design of the two attacks. Doing it with handblasters lets you skip havig to do 2 range taps. Doing it with fan like this lets you skip spending 300+ power per target swap as well as do 2k+ dps just spamming tab. It's very broken. As was waid people have gotten some time outs for it, what's sad is the guy I know who was doing it was trying to write up a detailed report to deadmeat in hopes they wouldn't just nerf fan outright and simply address the issue.
Just as I thought. Just tried it and it is worthless. It does not do great damage nor does it hit automatically when you switch targets. You can do far more damage sticking to your regular combos
Been saying that through the whole thread lol, it's only handy in situational spots but even then it's not guaranteed, stick to the normal combos.
The fan glitch is clearly a glitch. Does anyone remember when the fan hit more than once and you could crazy spam the fan glitch and it hit everytime super fast? The devs could not fix it so they nerfed fan to hit once since it was an OP glitch. So even if it only hits once and slower, yes it is a glitch. Anyone saying otherwise is using the glitch and will say it is working as intended.
From what I saw the ticks don't hit if you switch to fast and only last thru the anitmation. Not worth even doing it. It is a nerfed version of the orginal that had three ticks to it. Anyone who does it is going to hurt their dps output imo.
Seeing a friend test it on PC I can tell you you're surely not losing dps... and you're not using power... Likely different on PS3 as you don't have a tab key to swap targets quickly iirc really needs fixing.
This needs to be fixed quickly, sick and tired of seeing trash players using HL now just because of a glitch. How has this not already been patched?
It was nice to use this to help at nexus. I always warned people upfront that I will be using it and everyone is ok with it. Here are the problems now: hordes of new HL payers are using it and it is apparent which is a good player from the bad as they get left in the dust at second and third lex's. Just a couple of days ago we pugged a dps that was cocky about his dps that of left behind at nexus by 500k at only one boss ( single target ). We kicked another HL dps for using this at the fountain boss where we specified that we need a focused single target damage but he kept padding his numbers. I'd like this glitch removed so that the contrast between good and bad HLplayers will prevail again.
I've ran many pug Nexus raids where I would have 1-1.5 million more than the HL fan user... but they would still be cocky about their damage. My thoughts, if you get beat by an equally geared fire dps and you are using the maneuver = you stink. Hoardes of players are switching to it - and hoardes of them are getting destroyed on the damage charts.
It means they are just using blindly without thinking about positioning which a good HL player does with or without the glitch to maximize his/her dps. They day this will be fixed will be the day they get dumped in a pool with ice cold water. Think of it this way they switch to HL SOE gets money, they switch back after it get fixed SOE makes money again. The more money SOE gets the faster hopefully they will pump out DLC's which is a big win.
I have never seen so many fans going at once until this weekend. I'll be honest, the moment I found out it was back I used it. But I agree, it has to go, anything that requires ZERO power but does mass amounts of damage just isn't right. My only fear is that the only way for them to fix this problem will make fan useless.
I'm secretly hoping someday it will be fire's turn to have something 'reappear' like 8 ticks per target no splitting on fireburst or the short lived August 2011 Inferno granting immolation's 35% dmg increase to anyone inside of it.
Fan is already broken from the last "fix" So often it deals simply zero damage if used the way it is intented... So yes when they give it another try to fix it its gonna heal the enemy probably.
