High CR's rushing ahead...please stop

Or maybe some inconsiderate players could quit thinking they have the right to control how other players play and that bullying should rule.
  2. Proxystar #Perception

No one is controlling anything, they're just doing what they want because random is random.

If you want to take control of a situation because you don't want to accept random then use LFG, it's that simple, otherwise, you need to accept that every time you run an instance blind is going to result in varying experiences.

If I ran into a player like how you play, I would initiate a vote to remove that player from the instance and place them on ignore. Monkeys don't belong in my instances.

But let's just say you're not slow, why haven't you manned up to do survival mode? Oh wait, you rather keep speaking of how broken the game is.

Tell us how you really feel about this game.
  4. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

You know of course that applies 100% the other direction....that an 'at level' player demanding someone roll along at their speed to keep pace with them.

I'm not saying that leaving someone behind isn't a bad thing...but it's not bullying... your argument cuts both ways. The only difference is that the lower level player needs the help most times...the higher level does not.

At the skating rink near me they have a few hours set aside on Saturday night (or they did before lockdown at least) for 'over 18' patrons. Many people would rather go during that time as they don't want to adjust the way they skate(plus they server alcohol) to avoid tripping over some 5 year old who can barely walk straight without skates...much less with them on. But...if they remove that time period and the adult skater still wants to skate, he's forced to go in with those kids. However when they go, they are NOT obliged to hold one by the hand and make sure they stay upright or pick them up when they wipe out. It's nice when they do (and I've done so on occasion), but not required. You could also just hop over or go around one of the ones that took a wipe and keep skating...Sure the whining and crying behind you dampens the experience some, but hey...I paid my 5$ to skate, not babysit. So let's make it so the kids and 'over 18's don't always HAVE to be on the rink at once. Mom and Dad can chose to skate around with little Billy and the rest of us can stop by Sat night...have a beer and race around like idiots, skate backwards and in general get less snot on our clothes.

Look, I've played Ultima to god knows what. Most players of high level rush. this game rush came like right before the first Amazon episodes. the only thing I can see you getting mad at is the rush. You miss the mechanics of the raid/ boss, but some don't need many. if anything people are power leveling other toons and that's about it. The game itself has become more of a playstaion home chat. Really not about the game. Its the looks.

With all the things that have been nerfed in this game, or changed due to player behavior, I'm still surprised this hasn't been addressed. The easy solution, used by other games, is an invisible "tether" that limits how far away from the other players you can go. It's like the invisible "walls" and "flight ceilings" in a lot of the game's newer open world areas. You'd just make it something that moves and scales on the fly to keep everyone closer together during group content.

My wacky opinion is, actually, that nobody should be making "demands" of anyone, but that people should instead try -- and here's the truly amazeballs wacky and unbelievable part! -- asking the other member of the duo or members of the group nicely if everyone could agree on how to run the instance.

Shall we do it fast or slow? With feats or without? Anyone need a feat? Yes? No? Okay, let's go, then.

I know, it's just crazy talk.

Please, all, forgive me my wild imaginings as to how people might try to get along with each other. Sometimes I just don't know what I am thinking.

    I thought
was reasonably clear in suggesting that everyone might try being considerate, but, alas, no.

Sorry for the late reply, I feel ya but what was referenced was very old content.

While I am here I might as well say this.

I get the frustration all the way around, I really don't see a problem though, but it is what I choose to focus on and what others choose to do, well that's on them.

I recently had a conversation with some old league mates who no longer play the game and have not for some time.

They had 2 different play styles, both were in the talks about this game.

What I got out of the conversation is similar to what I get out of this thread and most of the topics and to voice my opinion right now I would say that it would not be fun to be playing right now for me.

My previous comment is why, it just keeps on going getting worse and less attractive and not because of the reasons some have stated, increasing difficulty will not fix it.

I have played this game for years, stopped playing and I still could come back and do what I did when I first started playing.

It is new faces, is all it is some that are childish but we all are while there are others who go deep into chasing stats, believe me, the complaining has everything to do with completing what ever a person decided to run so they can see the scoreboard and get their loot.

The are plenty of people playing the game, but only a few who will think about others when they join a random group, few being the key word.

And when someone goes AFK (either by accident or on purpose), and you are kick locked, or during the 'no kicks' period....now we have to leave and requeue? Nope...that sounds terrible. I can 100% see someone joining some raid like Bombshell and squatting at the beginning to troll people. Don't bet against it in this community. A better solution would be to have all runs like Trigon's prison where the group is pulled forward to whatever checkpoints they see fit to put in. Boss fights, or cutscenses or doors or whatever.

I'm still not 100% sure this whole thing is a problem for most. In most instances where I over level the other players, when asked, I hear no objections to wrecking everything and they get an easy carry...and sometimes some easy feats. I'd still rather have the ability to run solo or in a group of my choosing, but I think the main complaint against 'facerolling' come from the 10-15 users in here who repeatedly bring up the topic.
  10. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

I was actually agreeing with you, just pointed out what you just confirmed...any group 'demanding' or 'requiring' someone else to play their way sucks. The one difference (as pointed out) is that the low CR player, most times, NEEDS someone to help in their goals... The high CR player, most times, does not unless going for some feat...in which case likely the low CR player will benefit too. That doesn't mean people can't help each other, but it does generally put the 'ask' part on the low CR player. If they stand around gnashing their teeth in silence or only start complaining they didn't get what they needed AFTER it's too late, it is a bit on them....it does not automatically make the other player a 'bully'.

As I mentioned in my first post...I will often if not always ask, although if the people requiring the escort are asking for something that means I'll be in there for a while...i.e. "Can we do the 666 demons feat" in UM... "Can we work on Chain linked feat" in Bombshell. I'll just excuse myself. 90% of the time, any assistance just requires a few min, or some light communication/co-ordination and PERSONALLY (I can only speak for myself) I'll help out with that....even if it tacks a min or 2 to my run.

    BTW...you are forgiven;)...just don't let it happen again:eek:

As much as I disagree with the sentiment around here, I agree OP's alternative choice is to use LFG. The only problem is he's running old content. Many new players are either unfamiliar or don't utilize it (The devs seriously need to put in tutorials on how to use chat as im very certain you have to activate LFG in the settings first.) so his best choice is the On duty system. Therefore, no it's not that simple.

You know what is simple? Being considerate to your other teammates whether you LFG or On Duty. Otherwise just make your own group.... right?

So typical of this game and the majority of group game play, since they don't level the group content as they should.

I would try to KICK them the moment you see the impatient play style, and you'll see if the rest of the group agrees with you.
  13. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

That's a great attitude, but I think the kick timer is 5 min...many runs will be done by then if very old. So not really an option. And likely the majority won't agree, so wasted effort most times.

Yep...nothing like talking about impatience while also going direct to kick vs chat to ask someone to go a bit slower first. I'm 100% behind the ability to kick, but communication would be better if an option.
  14. MsTickle Fate Devoted Player

Sure, why bother trying to communicate like a human being, using "words," when you can just start a kick?
