I guess we will never ever get rid of them. I have stopped getting bothered by them but having two AFKs in an alert is ridiculous! No shame at all.
I haven't noticed this myself. I mean I've seen people go AFK for a minute or so, but not just sit there and let us do the whole thing.
The first day I had a couple of bad runs, but since then the majority have been OK. And lots of people don't seem to know what to do wth the crystals and urn. But that should improve.
Theoretically, I think you can kick them after "beating Clarion but before you hit his cog. I might be wrong though.
I found the alert to be pretty easy to solo so I rather do this than having a headache dealing with leechers. I think what needs to be done is to make sure they have to do certain amount of damage or they won't get a reward. Simply queuing in and gettin the reward is rewarding them too much for no effort.
Considering the number of people who unleash everything in their arsenal all at once (seriously, people, it's a seasonal instance ) in the fight, that kind of approach could end up hurting people who ARE participating but not using Orbitals, Backups and the like.
They do that because they are chasing the silly scoreboard, like it actually matters. Who cares, it’s a Seasonal. I think scoreboard chasing is frivolous anyways. It serves only two purposes: (1) to boast (2) to use as a club to beat another player with for “Not pulling their weight during the fight”.
I feel like there is a different between unleashing everything versus just standing there doing nothing. Some amount of contribution should be needed.
Not everyone has the same motives... I'll be honest, I'm one of those who uses everything possible in seasonals... but the goal isn't scoreboards, and I couldn't care less how much damage others deal as long as they're participating in combat and not just standing around. But I'm an avid base builder, and for that, I need a lot, a lot of base items from seasons (you never know when an idea will pop up and how many specific base items it will take to implement, so you always need to farm them in reserve... lots and lots...), so I use an army of Alts for this, and just one minute on Alt can turn into half an hour a day overall... If you don't have much time to play overall... then half an hour of tediously repeating the same alert is very noticeable...
Then you run into the problem of figuring out what counts as contribution. Going to the other extreme of letting slip the dogs of war, you could have someone just need to land one weapon hit to get credit, then do nothing for the rest of the instance, effectively doing the same thing as being AFK. Doesn't really solve anything.
I can understand that. For me, the whole thing just seems silly. Seasonal content is pretty much the easiest content to run in the game at any level, so you really don't need all that much to run it besides powers and weapons. Going full bore in the instance just seems like trying to take out a gnat with a sledgehammer, regardless of whether someone is scoreboard chasing or not. LOL It just makes me shake my head a little because it's (to me) a pretty clear case of overkill.
I unleash everything because by the time the instance is over it's off cool down and I'm not investing in a "home-turf trinket, fortune 500, hedge fund" waiting to mature before I use them I'm not trying to win the scorecard, even if I ultimately do, I just do it because I want to finish it as soon as possible.
That is all unleashing EVERYTHING during in the seasonal can accomplish, which is getting to Klarion weakened to trigger the first, second or third iteration of the crystals to spawn for placement. I have seen people ignore the crystals and just keep pounding on Klarion while I placed the crystals by myself. They have to placed or Klarion will not take any more damage and their pounding is wasted effort.
Basically the way I'll do it is, pull out the pets and allies (cause due to their duration they'll be there most of the fight, if not all) then where appropriate I'll drop the orbital and supply but not necessarily on the first phase, just where it proves more impactful. These things are there to be used and not saved, because they just come off cool-down after, that's really the only logic to it, they're there to be used
