    New Character Creation

    The process and interfaces used to create characters has been completely overhauled and streamlined. This includes new, upgraded versions of some of our most classic styles, new slimlines, and new streetwear.

    This is so very exciting! Would these upgraded versions, new slimelines, and new streetwear be available on the style vendors in HoL? (On the live server once released.)

    1. It seem the classic styles in the HQ vendors have a slight naming issue.

    2. The "Power-Reinforced" Boots have been renamed to the "Classic Power-Reinforced" Boots, but the newer version of these haven't been added to the game. They aren't in the character creation or the Gentleman Ghost vendor in the House of Legends.

    Otherwise, the new menu is pretty sweet! I really hope we can make the styles menu/character doll like that. Thanks!

    Keen for the updated styles and new streetwear!
    Hope we get some simple heeled shoes, a body hair/stubble skin and a makeup skin pleeease!

    3. Also the "Tight Permed" Hair doesn't allow the player to tint or change it's color.

    I really like that we got new slimlines alongside a new character creation. I think most Inspired by looks great, but can we please do something about Steel? His skin is so outdated it looks really weird compare to other inspired bys.

    What metric are you using to factor in the complexity description for all powers and weapons? I see one handed as high, then handblasters as high too. Are you guys basing this on the amount of weapon combos available or how easy-hard it is to achieve those combos? As for the powers, I feel like you could use a different UI that may display a better stat/information, like a pie chart (see example below). You could try and do two separate charts for powers with their DPS and Support roles.

    You could also do a star rating instead which would be easier to implement, i would imagine it would be something like this:

    Is it intended that our character starts with 350 Skill Points??

    I would assume not intended..... but seeing how we can skip to CR 100..... maybe it is intended?? :confused:

    350sp is the default for new test server characters. That wouldn't happen on live server it would start at 0, unless they used a skip.

    1. The UI looks older than what we had before. Specifically, the style. The square boxes make it seem very basic. The glow in the top of menu looks nice. The overall resolution is better too, wich is great.
    2. The lighting is nice and realistic, but having many of the styles with latex-like material seems a bit odd. This is personal preference, however.
    3. If you skip over selections too fast with a controller, it doesnt update the model properly. Example: Male/Female. Male -> open menu -> D-pad down to female -> hit back within a splitsecond -> Sassy male pose. Same can be done with any other menu in the reworked version. This can lead to this funny looking fella. I call him Gigantor.[IMG]
    4. Selecting a style in the appearance menu always puts you back to the top of the menu, which isn't critical, but it would be nice if it wouldn't do that.
    5. The Color picker should be just like it is in the actual game. The preset colors are nice but give a wrong impression when it comes to choosing colors during actual gameplay. Not having the feature of changing color slots for each gearpiece was a good choice, as that most likely confused players early on.
    6. Options. The first thing some people do is to go into the settings to adjust music, sounds, visuals etc. This can't be accessed in the character selection screen or the character creation menu.
    7. The flashy "Play" button animation is pretty nice.
    8. When hovering over the CR skip options, the arrow becomes slightly angled, which hurt my Ocd. The glow already indicates enough which one is selected. [IMG]
    9. The followup cutscene once you hit play can be skipped by tapping a button, not hold. This could lead to unfortunate mishaps when someone misclicks at the wrong moment that initially wanted to see it.
    All in all it initially looks bad (to me, being used to the old one). After playing around with it myself, it seems okay, but the boxy menu has to go in my opinion. The top of the menu has a nice style and could be used for the rest of the menu aswell, maybe with a slightly different color to make it set itself apart from the top of the menu. Even though not initially, but after some time i realized how neatly the old UI implemented the Exobyte origin of our characters. The new UI feels like it has no relation to anything in the game. Not that its needed, but it was neat none the less.
    If some of the points others and i addressed, this could still become a nice new UI going forward.

    • Why do a lot of "Inspired by" presets get the Family Reunion Batman treatment, i.e., short height, for some reason? This goes for Batman, Lex, Harley, Ivy, Freeze, Flash, Deathstroke, Static, Green Lantern, Captain Atom, Spectre, Firestorm.
    • In "Inspired by" Movement Mode: Acrobatics, it got (Ground-Based) description, which is not the case with rocket-assisted glide and should be changed to (Versatile) like Flight or Skimming.
    • If you pick Male or Female in Customize and go back to Character, then all "Inspired by" presets will use that idle animation
    • Customize>Movement>Skimming quickly removes discs under the character's feet while still leaving the character in disc hovering animation.
    • Customize>Weapon: I think it is better to keep the character holding the weapon in an idle combat stance after animation to better demonstrate the choice, like it is done in the Movement part.
    • Most new head and face styles do not utilize the eye color, using one of the gear colors instead.
    • Tight Perm male hairstyle uses gear color instead of hair color and clips through a lot of head styles.

    Only two issues I see with the character create process:

    1) When you are finished and select play at the top you eye is drawn to the large play button on the right hand side that appears. I was clicking this for awhile wondering why I hadn't proceeded until I realized that a Name field had also appeared that wasn't previously present. I suggest making the name field be lit up and the second play button not appear until after you have entered a valid name.

    2) the color selections are not working right my clothing colors are going on the eyes and I do not like that you can no longer customize the color of each piece of clothing separately. I suppose it can make getting into the game quicker but then during game play I'm going to spend the time anyways to fix it. Also it just makes the options of styles that much worse if they are all locked to same order of colors which can be offputing to new players who don't know you can customize more and make these styles a lot more desirable.

    The tutorial is looking really good.

    Storyline wise I preferred the concept of breaking yourself out of the pods and then meeting up with your mentor in the last room. It just seemed to fit more especially on the villain side. But this way also makes sense for how you would meet up with this person and choose to work with them. And is a decent change up for existing players who've done character creation a few times to not skip the tutorial.

    Prompts for moves and abilities are coming up right when you need them. The first load-out power prompt was slightly ill timed because enemies were starting to fight me and I picked a power I have no experience with and actually wanted to read. But my mentor kept the adds back more then long enough to take in the full description.

    The ship looks very nice and the explosion effects when you are prompted to leave in a hurry are very nice and immersive to the story.

    [Bug] The final door to get to the Brainiac fight didn't actually open. I ran up next to it and just phased through the wall to stare at that for a bit until the camera reset inside the room.

    [Bug?] Side question where did my mentor go? Were they supposed to come with me after I destroyed the machinery and the ship started exploding? Because they stayed in that room an then I had to fight Brainiac solo.

    I believe this is because we are on the test server and everyone gets auto-boosted up to the minimum recommended SP for the latest DLC being tested which in this case is Justice league dark cursed.

    The problem with the old UI is that the graphics were hard-coded. Which makes it extremely difficult to update. This new version has plenty of room at the bottom to include new categories.

    Which may hint that something is in the works to give us even more character controls in the future.

    This would have been a Great opportunity to give us a Slimline with a BIG emblem.

    Something that has been requested for a looooong time. :(

    Any reason why Devs did not use the opportunity to give us just 1 of them new Slimelines with a BIG emblem??:confused::oops:
