    I took a break for a few months and missed the whole save the universe dlc.
    Is there no way for me to get the op hands right now?

    You can't earn new Grains until STU returns, whenever that may be.

    It seems likely those hands won't be raising CR by that point.

    FWIW, I, for one, didn't get them yet myself. But I have no one to blame but myself.
