Giving away free marks after newest update?

So, I long on and a buddy of mine shows me a screenshot of this after today's update:


He has been playing this game for over 3 years and has completed every instance in the game, yet he got these 3 missions and a 4th one where he did the university tier 1 duo and received 8 marks from it.
Can anyone explain this?

OK, but I didn't get any of these, as well as my league mates.

I only got the mission on 2 of my 3 villains and 0 of 3 on my heroes. Some of my friends got this on all their characters. This needs to be addressed.

The missions are triggering weird for some characters. Try completing the seasonal first, that seemed to cause the mission to trigger in people's journal who didnt already have it.

This wasn't intended? I can guarantee I've run with ppl who haven't done 8th Precinct or Area 51 at endgame. Not sure what the heck they've done. I figured this was intended. I have my alert and challenge feats, I looked at it as an opportunity to buy more vendor gear for prestige and run old stuff for fun and base items.

Ok ill try this when I get a chance to log back on.

Yep just looked the only one I got was on 8th precinct on my main none of my alts have any of them


Edit, I will try what Kody said and run the seasonal to see if it pops up

yea so I did the seasonal and got 1 of the missions...the 8th precinct one..this is weird.

I have it figured out now, you have to do the seasonal to get your one mission than go and complete that mission to unlock the next one and so forth.

Yep wow that is 26 marks plus more if I get them in the loot picker

I only got it on one of my heroes. I have 3 l3vel 30 heroes and one villian. Didn't have time to check the villian but as I stopped playing as soon as I reached 30 on that one I'm sure he has it

All 9 have claimed the emblem

Yea the missions wont shownuntil you complete the inside seasonal missions and complete it off your journal.

While your at it: I brough two toons up to level 30 after this update; the first one did recieve the "old" level 30 welcome mission with Zatanna and the follow up missions to the vendor tour, but the 2nd one didn't. You should investigate that, too, since that mission introduces the new players to vendors and ends up in the 85 legendary marks.

Only difference in the toons was that one reached level 30 before running the final mentor missions (did get the old welcome mission) and the other did reach level 30 with finishing the final mentor missions. Maybe granting the new mission arc blocks the old one.
