I always wanted the name "Mepps", here´s my chance finally!

I find it interesting how we are getting a name reclaim "after" having an April Fool's event that grants an ally for each character you own that you log in. Personally, I don't foresee much movement in the "reclaiming old names for use" area; however, many players have asked/pleaded for this ad nauseum so I will just sit back and see what happens.

@Mepps I lost my PSN account in 2018, in that account I had my own league, with a league hall with some cool stuff, but all members are inactive and I not have any way to manage the league, the point is.... exists any chance of transfer the leadership to any of my new account characters or my old league is condemned to the inactivity forever...

Perfect timing! I spent hours yesterday trying to come up with a name for one of my alts. NGL, I'm aiming for an OG name, but if I don't get one I'm sure they'll be plenty of other good ones.

You offense too quickly after doing a xenophobic comment like that....in EU server plays a huge part of latin american community without any latency problems, are you saying Argentina, Mexico or Colombia have better internet connections than US? I don't think so...

Says the one that used slur like words to blanket language barriers. Nothing in my comment was xenophobic. Trying to communicate to other languages is a barrier that can be nightmare to overcome.

There are a lot of countries that have better internet than the US. Look it up. You'd be surprised how archaic the US is because they lack the drive to spend money to upgrade it. Just like how we also lack the electrical infrastructure to power a fully electric vehicle system.

Merge EU with US afterwards please

Last time a reclaim happened it was tied to a merge and info was provided in relation to who keeps what name.

No such info has been given this time. Does that mean there is no merge currently planned? It would suck if you renamed a toon to something new and then a short while later a merge was announced and you lose both the new name and the old name.

Just want to get as much clarity as possible to prevent any potential future issues.

When they did the first name reclaim, it was when they were doing crossplay and they didn't announce that it would be platform specific until a bunch of players bought tokens to rename and couldn't get them. That forced a response that crossplay was in the works and happened a few months later.

can anyone give me an example of an OG Name. I keep hearing the phrase bandied about, & I've no idea what an OG Name is. what are examples?

I think it was in the way you said it, not sure. But to me it also sounded kinda weird. Like if right now there werent player from different countries with different languages on the US server (which we all know there are).
I wouldnt go as far as saying your comment was xenophobic, but it did sounded weird.

I doubt theres gonna be a language barrier if the US EU merge happens, atleast not more than aready is. There might be cases where you encounter players speaking different languages, yes. But that already happens right now.

My four alt accounts all just re-sub'd, and I purchased a dozen namechange tokens in preparation.

The Name Purge last time was not associated with a Server Merger.

Server Merger never included a Name Purge. Names were not freed up; they simply were contested in places by two separate characters. With a Server Merger, not one single name would be actually freed. If PS character has a name and PC didn't, PS kept it. If PC character has a name and PS didn't, PC kept it. If both had the same name, one kept it and one got tagged. In no situation did a name get freed up for a new player.

That has only happened once previously. It was with the Name Reclaim event in 2015.

That Name Reclaim event is what we are doing again.

It is not a server merger, and it has nothing to do with servers or merging. (I am not opposed to server mergers; I just wanted to be clear about what it was so that nobody had false notions of what to expect.)

Any correctly spelt words or particularly single words chosen at random from the dictionary.

The name reclaim was done because names needed to be also set up for the PC merge with PS.

They couldn't have characters with the same name on the servers.

Those that lost their names were renamed _PC1, _PS1 etc.

The wider name reclaim was then also done at the same time from recollection, as I believe there has only ever been the one.
