George Perez tribute

Just saw the sad news. George Perez won’t be with us much longer.

George has had a massive impact on comics. Even in DCUO, the recent additions of Monitor and Harbinger are George’s designs. The Anti-Monitor is George’s design.

Maybe DCUO could do a tribute for George with a base poster pack of some of his iconic covers? For instance, Crisis on Infinite Earths #1:



Justice League of America #200



The New Teen Titans #1



Wonder Woman #1



Legion of Three Worlds #1



Action Comics #643



Batman #440

This is devastating news.

Its a touchy subject so i'll keep it short but sweet:

Its the right sentiment, and obviously comes from a place of, (what i'd also consider) correctly chosen admiration, but at absolutely the wrong time.

Thats all.

Sadly I imagine WB is working on a lawsuit now to keep his family from suing to get the rights to the characters he created now.

To each their own. I would rather celebrate people while they’re still alive so that they can know people cared. In many ways, George is DC to me - his DC is what I grew up with.

It wouldn't surprise me at all. Almost guaranteed Marvel/Disney is doing the same thing.

His artwork is amazing and there are a lot of current artists today that can't draw for a damn and are getting top titles.
It really stands out for those who appreciate his art and how good it is.
If you are in this forum and haven't read any of the stuff he has drawn, you are missing out.

Plus, he is and always will be the master for fitting as many characters into a cover/page/poster and making it look phenomenal.

Met George at DragonCon years ago. He was doing sketches, and the guy in front of me asked “What characters do you draw?” George flatly said “All of them.” It was pretty funny, and it was no lie

He was the only artist that could of pulled off Crisis.

He got Jack of Hearts and Rocket Red.

I can think of a few he missed on but no one's perfect.

Mr. Perez is a gift to comicdom. What a talent. Praying for him.

EDIT - the characters I'm thinking about didn't even come into existence until 1993 so CoIE naturally wouldn't include them.

He is a true Artist of the Heavens!

I'm really not a fan of this news.

I was lucky enough to meet him a few years back and talk for awhile, not just a remarkable artist, but a compassionate and kind man. He was absolutely committed to making sure Latinx characters were presented without stereotype.

Absolutly need a Perez tribute and base items commenorating him and his work for DC!
