Future Approach for Seasonal Shopping

So it seems like all seasonal prices are being increased with only first week they are discounted at lower price. But if starting fresh (with 0 past currency), you won't have a lot of seasonal currency. So you can earn only the max amount of 1 week of currency. A lot of items even with discount would be higher than the 1 week of currency.

By this logic, we have to buy what we can by end of the first week. Then the rest of the seasonal, we can farm and save up the currency. Spending it in retail price seems too expensive when compared to before and during sale time. Save the currency until next year when the seasonal comes with the sale when you will have a lot of the currency left so you can buy those items at discounted price.

Would have been better if they throw in the sale at the end of the seasonal than the beginning. But then they can't monetize from the marketplace purchases.

Congratulations, you discovered the secret that they didn't even slightly try to hide... it's an effort to monetize! Like they said they were going to do! Glad somebody finally had the balls to call them out for doing exactly what they said they were going to do.

Yeah, when this tactic fails (if it fails), I'd guess the 1 week sale will become a 2 day 'Flash Sale' on the first few days to further make taking advantage of the sale feel more important. We'll see as future seasonals come out. Seems like they are making tweaks as they go.

I don't think anyone is 'discovering' it...more calling them out for this bogus 'we are really trying to listen to the customers' nonsense.

They should just put in the update "We decided we wanted more money, so we slowed the content, lowered payouts and raised prices....but as a diversion, we are putting up a sale to make things not seem as bad...just for a week though, so you won't have the marks to really capitalize on it....unless you buy them".

Still pretty 'bleh' but at least it would be up front, not some 'Look what we are doing FOR YOU!...see...we listen'...bs.

It’s all under new managers right? So they are monetizing the game via different monetization vehicles. This is what happens when a game is “Free to Play”. Nothing about the Seasonals hinders anyone’s ability to play the game. I don’t have sympathy anymore. If anyone wants something from this seasonal, just spend the cash and buy the seed pods or whatever and be done with it. That’s what I’ve going to do if and only if it’s something I really want, which I doubt, but one never knows.

(And yes, I still pay for membership ever year - crazy right?)

DBG thanks you for your support in this endeavor.

I for one will run alts, or just let them go. If we buy the currency....the terrorists extortionists fat cats win.

I do not want to give ideas but...well, what if they decide to make the currency perishable? So you can't trust even in saving hehe.

In spanish there is a saying "ante el vicio de pedir, la virtud de no dar" which translated would be "against the vice of demand/ask, the virtue of not giving", so if anyone believe they are demmanding too much you can just not give at all.

Ps: Probably there is a similar saying on english, please feel free to tell it to me.

We all will just do what we think is best for our characters.
I did the seasonal once and called it quits, thinking about stepping away again.
I don't have time to play regular content (granted I hate Kaznia anyways) because I had to get caught up with seasonals which was very difficult... were finally back to when I came back... and I'm just tired.

Gaslighting is a problem and I won't tolerate it..currently looking up a game to try to drag my friends too but its hard to find something we'd all be okay with/

Yeah the events are easy enough with alts, although they are trying to kill that too it seems like.

I haven't subbed to the game in years. There's really no reason to once you reach a certain point (unless maybe you run multiple end game characters I guess). Would be nice if they gave us some better incentive to sub up instead of trying to inconvenience people into spending. Anyway, doesn't really bother me, I play regardless and just ignore the spendy aspects.

Not sure they can ever kill the alts, but if and when they decide to, I'll just let the event slide in that case. I've never bought or will ever buy currency in game. Same goes for Nth or stabilizers...past any I was dopey enough to buy way in the past before they revealed them for what they really were...money grabbing nonsense that capitalizes on FOMO.

Replays are a relatively necessary evil, so I'd generally make 1 purchase of those a year once my few remaining 1000 or so run out, but if it got to the point where you'd HAVE to use replays just to keep up, yeah...add those to the pile. But as it stands, that is the only money I'd ever spend on this game again.

Wish you the best with whatever you play. If you move on, pick a game without a major exploit industrial complex that has a team who can limit cheesy player scams without making sweeping changes that catch normal players in the crossfire. If that's not possible, find one that's willing to plainly call out its issues to minimize the number of players who think they're fun is being intentionally targeted. Please hang in there if you can, but don't make yourself miserable :) Later.

I will definitely NOT buy any seasonal currency (I may have done this once, but it must have been early days because I can't remember when it was and once I started to carry over unspent currency from year to year it was unneccessary).

I have a couple of hundred seed pods saved up from previous years, so unlike any new players I can take advantage of the "sale" week straight away. I'll buy what I need for the feats, and anything else will depend on how the earning goes after the first few days. I'll also try selling a few items from my stash for some ready cash and to clear inventory.

Feats: the Spring Blossoms Aura is nice, so I'll get that for my nature healer. I can probably get at least the minimum greenery requirement as well, which will suit a couple of bases. The tattoo - only for the points. The Envirotechs - they look cool, again maybe my nature healer who currently has the Nature Spirits, 25 feat points is not to be sneezed at (sorry, Oracle). Replays for the others.

Activities - to me the street mission is the absolute worst in terms of yield from time invested. I did not pursue the St Patrick's day gold to anywhere near the same degree as previously and I sure won't be chasing plant creatures (24) or civilians (12) for 4 seed pods with much enthusiasm either. It took me 9 goes for one character to earn today's 4 pods, a ridiculous time sink. Thankfully the alert is the same as ever and gives 8 pods. I was hoping for some addiitional Ivy or Swamp Thing content to break it up a bit, but that's OK.

So if I do the sewer alert on 1 character for 20 days out of 28 that's 160 pods. Maybe more than that, if the OH and I team up and run a bunch of characters through the alert, which is always fun. Even with us teaming up on the street mission though we aren't likely to cut down the time requirement by a great deal - during St Pats we were getting all 8 coins between us at each pot and it still took us 7 pots to get the inflated requirement (because 6 x 8 is 48 and we needed 1 more, which was obviously deliberate). Skipping that, I think. Saying again, in case anyone is listening, this drawn out requirement for the street mission is the absolute worst aspect of the revised seasonals.

It's even worse for villains. Heroes can attack any Ivy critters, even ones being protected from Envirotech by a villain, and they count, but the Envirotech guys only show up for villains, and usually only one or two per node. So, while a hero can get credit for stomping as many as six Ivy critters per node, and can attack nodes being defended by villains, villains get credit for defeating one or two Envirotech goons per node, and can't even go after nodes being worked by heroes.

Add to that the fact that at any given time, there are dozens of heroes swarming all over the nodes, so villains can't even start them, and it means that villain characters take much longer to do the activity. It's about four times the work for the same low payout.

The alert reward isn't consistent, either. One of my heroes got 5 pods for the alert (started with 1, got 4 for the OW, and ended with 10).

The change to seasonal currency, the open world, removal of the vault, and increased prices is... such a crazy move. I can't even bring myself to play aside from logging in to get the daily reward.

Seasonals used to be one of my favorite things about this game. I would run at least 5 characters through the outside and inside, and then all my other +30 characters through the vault.

    I just feel so demoralized.

I haven't tried on my villains and probably won't. I'll just run the alert. So far on the 4 toons I've put through have earned 8 seed pods in the instance. It sounds quite odd that the rewards aren't consistent.

It has been said that there was something on Discord where Voltara said that the Envirotech henchmen who are marked as account bound are in fact non-tradable. I have not been able to chase down the original post as Discord is a horrible mess IMO. This just raises so many questions - for a start, why aren't the official forums being informed of this apparent labelling error?

Even if it's 2 day sae, if you have stocked up previous year, you would have enough to take advantage of the sale. But if they make the currency perishable, then we are doomed.

They should honestly run the sale in last week of the event if they are listening to the customers. The 50% discount is better than St'Patricks one. Makes things cheaper after inflation. And they didn't increase all base items to new prices. Some are in old prices so 50% is a real bonus. I wish they would move when the salle happens. So those who couldn't farm and have to buy pods will do so in last week to not miss out.
