Is it just me or does the forum site load extremely slow? I've been having this issue for awhile now but it seems even worse than before. Is this a site issue or is this an issue on my end?

It's a site issue, been going for a little over a year now. It's really old. Hopefully we will be getting new forums at some point, I know other Daybreak games already got new ones. Would be nice to get a new functioning forums for DCUO aswell.

I hate to disagree but this started just this weekend. A forum topic usually opens within 3 seconds for me. Starting this weekend, it takes almost a minute. Its gone really sluggish.

It's been bad for a long time now, but I agree with Leonite...this weekend or rather since mid week this last week...it's been running on a 1995 386 or something...Vic 20 maybe?

Slooooooooower than 'normal' which was already slow.

Getting the new forums build like some other DBG titles have would be great :p I’ve never seen load times this bad on any modern website…

This specific lag, yes. But it happened quite a few times in the recent year - is what I meant. ;)

    Yeah, it's really bad haha.

I've gotten into the habit of opening this forum in a new tab and doing other things (read news, play games, etc.) in the main tab while the forum pages load. I glance up at the forum tab every so often to see if it's done. Seems like it takes at least one to two minutes for each forum click to fully respond. And, as Eve pointed out, this has happened repeatedly over the last year or so.

i wonder if it's bandwidth issues maybe caused by all the AI bots scraping the internet from top to bottom these days, or the gross JavaScript running these forums

you'd think they would just shut the forums down and force everyone onto Facebook/Twitter/discord with servers and bandwidth that are free(to Daybreak anyway)

Changed title to point more to the topic of the thread.

And yes, they do seem slow. I thought it was just me.
I have been meaning to look at other DBG forums and sites to see if maybe it's for all their titles. Nope, tested EQ, EQ2, LOTR, P2 ... they seem snappy.

So sorry for the late reply. I'm still struggling to load into the forums to the point I close out of my tab and open it back up, hoping it'll fix it. Thank you for letting me know that I'm not the only individual suffering through this issue.

I literally did a count on how long it takes for just opening a post and it took 2 minutes and 36 seconds! That's insanely long.

Is there a possibility that the forums have exceeded a certain amount of data which causes this intense slowdown? I know the site is old but I'm not sure what else could cause the issue?
  13. undrline Moderator

Yes, the forums do contain both the soe archive and the archive from the last upgrade, but there are all sorts of things that could be causing the issue from the server to the site, to a bad actor.

Yikes! I thought it might be that long. Geeze

I'm having the same issue. Between clicking and loading a page takes several seconds

I knew it wasn't just me but maybe someone can find the quote but the old community manager mentioned they were in the process of getting us a new forum. The way things are now it's brutal if your not getting logged out every few mins it's taking ten or more mins to load.

Sometimes clicking a post takes too long to load times out then spits you out on the main forum list, that's always fun

It was good for a day or two this week, then back to being worse than before :(

5 minutes to load a forum page would have been ridiculous 30 years ago on a 56k modem. And yet - here we are. This doesn't inspire confidence, especially that this problem hasn't even been acknowledged after several weeks. Come back, Mepps - all is forgiven.

It took about 10 minutes and several tries when "server didn't respond in time" before the above post finally showed up. And then - of course - a double post... smh
