Flags from other nations

I don't think that it will be hard to add more flags if they decided to add the US flag. And I think, this is a topic they have most likely expected with it's release. However, I do not think it will prevent anything else from being added or fixed. It's also not a guarantee it will ever happen, or anytime soon. It's a simple suggestion.

What I want is not Necessarily what Ryll wants, or that player want, or anyone else and that's okay.
I also don't see why there has to be disagreement every time. This isn't game changing, sure, and it's exactly why it isn't a problem. People waste too much energy on things they don't like rather than advocate for things they want. At the end of the day, the devs will do whatever the f* they want and think is right for the game from their prespective and what their bosses tells them to do.

What I find mind boggling about this thread are the players who claim to be apathetic about the topic but dog pile and try to speak on behalf of dbg.

It's just like....hey if you don't care then move onto the next thread already.

There is nothing controversial about the American Flag. It is a symbol for freedom that everyone should rally behind.

Let's look at this from a common sense POV. Episode takes place in Dakota City. Dakota City is in America. Schools display the flag. Pretty simple

As I have stated several times in this thread.

It doesn't matter why it was added to the game.

I asked a very simple question because, now this may confuse you, there are other countries in the world. This includes the fictional world the game is set in. There are other items in game, like the Batman: The World posters, showing that other countries exist in DC. Lorax brought up a great fun fact about those items about how those covers were introduced. Did those authors write about Batman doing Batman things in the US? Or in their home country? The funny thing about countries is they tend to have their own flags associated with them.

Seeing as the devs have said in the past they wouldn't introduce any national flags because of the baggage that comes with them, and considering the introduction of other items of controversial representation....like the Pride items...which again I am happy to see in game....my simple question is worth asking.

Again, just because you don't think the US flag is controversial doesn't mean it isn't. Just because you don't understand that doesn't simplify the situation.

It does matter why it was released though, it was a asset used in the newest DLC.

Making more flags, without the inclusion of EVERY flag in the world, will do more harm than good.

For real, if they bring out a pack of 10, 20 or 50 different flags, and your country still isn't included, how will you feel then? I would bet you'd be back on here with the same issue, but in that scenario, you'd have justification. People all around the world play this, and there's bound to be some country, and people, left out.

Is it worth development time if it leads to division? Do they need to spend time to do 195 flags to please everyone? I get you like making bases, I do too, is this really the item to make a stand on? Having a flag pole inside a tiny base seems kinda silly to me in the first place, but that's just me.

I'm sorry if I offended you. There was no need to write a novel just to respond. Lets go ahead and sum this up.

If you are offended when you see the greatest flag in history, that sounds like a you problem. Clearly, from how you are getting absolutely roasted in this thread, most people agree with me.

Maybe you should go and find something else to be offended by and not a base item in a 12 year old game. Js

Well, then the question arises why was it necessary to create this flag at all? If initially there are no resources to create flags for the rest of the countries...then perhaps a smarter solution would be to initially create a flag with an empty canvas and a place for the emblem instead of the US flag (as it was done with a number of other base items ...)...I assure you the illusion of "no problem" arises because a lot of people are not outraged about the presence of this flag only for fear of being pelted with stones...

If anyone is offended by the U.S. flag, it's doing it's job...

I don't even have to look for examples outside the US to show your claims in both of your posts to be false. There are plenty of Americans who disagree with you on both.

The reason why it doesn't matter it was introduced is because something has changed for the devs to go back on their statement of never introducing any national flag. They have obviously shown they are willing to take bold steps, by introducing other controversial items to the game. Most recently the Pride items. That change...is what matters.

Actually...it seems the most vocal don't care if they introduce other flags.

Just because it is the greatest flag *for you* doesn't mean that everyone shares your perspective.

I also appreciate your concern but you haven't offended menin the least. No apologies necessary.

Oh before I forget...let me know at which point the 7 minute attention span kicked in for you...because I will definitely end my posts there in the future. Well...thats a lie but c'est le vie.

This goes directly against what Mike_B is saying!

This is an acknowledgement that it is a controversial thing!

    *shock* *gasp*

    Could Mike_B be wrong?

Naw, it simply meant that no one should be offended by it in the first place, unless they are judging and/or oppressors, in which the flag stands against because it stands for FREEDOM of said oppression XD

Lol nobody is offended by the American flag here. People just mentioned a previous statement by the devs and Ryll pointed out the item means it no longer applies. He’s just asking for more items of this type now that it’s been made an option. If a game added pet cats and someone asked if more pets could be added as well because they like pets and want an army of all kinds of cute critters, you wouldn’t call them anti-cat or say they were offended by cats.

I appreciate your posting Rej. I am also totally on board with a blank canvas flag for the direction they initially took. I am also totally on board with it still being introduced, along with other national flags, to the game!

Dbg allots their resources as they see fit.

The illusion you mentioned is 100% accurate. I have gotten a couple messages on discord and youtube mentioning support for me but unwillingness to post in fear of repercussions that come with it. I am 100% ok with them not posting too because as it is plainly obvious with it is happening in this thread.

Symbolism is by definition subjective... even the inviolability of the laws of mathematics or physics is determined by the state of knowledge at the moment... not to mention flags.... but I don't think this is the place for this kind of discussion...

Well I guess for immersion right? They added a school in the open world. The fictional city, is in the US based on comic canon. All, or 99% of schools in the US have a flag pole with the US flag, and usually the State flag as well. Did they have to add that detail, no. Reading this thread, maybe they shouldn't have. Seems like, for some, it's not about the flag, as much as it's about anti American sentiment. I'd like to remind those people, without America, these comics would not exist. This game would not exist. And without our 1st amendment, forums like this wouldn't exist. I'm proud to be an American! But, that doesn't mean I support our government 100%, the decisions they make, or the politics behind them. I also wouldn't have PTSD if they introduced a British flag in this 12 year old game....or start dumping tea lol.

Yes...Personally I prefer them fried, but sautéed is pretty good too.

If that is what it means for you, that's fine. I haven't even brought up the adding of the flag and the BLM graffiti at the same time yet. At least in the sense of oppression and equality. There are probably quite a few people within the BLM movement whose views of the American flag are the polar opposite of yours.

My personal take on the US flag is that it means nothing at all to me. It isn't offensive, it doesn't stir any emotional response in the least. This is where a lot of people might get confused with why I started this thread.

Remember the changes I have mentioned? Several times? About how the devs have gone back on previous postings? Those changes are why I posted this thread. I have said numerous times I support the devs in the bold steps of adding controversial items. Its a good thing. These are all good additions to the game.

People just are losing their minds because I want there to be more of these bold steps. Because they are good things.
