Favorite Choice of Weapon?

This thread is for the weapon masters out there, but those that depend on super powers, gadgets or the hybrids can chime in too on this one. I'm sure this question has been asked a number of times here, such as "What's the best weapon in the game, (in your opinion)?" or "What's your favorite weapon of choice?" I'd even ask if you've seen one that you particularly like, but don't often use?

When I first started playing, as a free to play, using the basic power sets such as Mental, Sorcery, or Fire (which is the best way to learn tank in my opinion), I'd use hand blast cause it made sense. It wasn't my favorite, but starting out it was what I was used to. Getting used to the dynamics & control of the game, using the ranged attacks was the best choice for me at the time. I then started getting into dual wield. The look and style of a pair of katana blades in my hands, I just liked the feel.

More recently though, I created a pair of toons. One of which I modeled after an angel of death, inspired by a shirt that I have. Naturally a toon like that should have a scythe which meant making a staff as the main weapon of choice. The other toon I created was the one I've been playing most as of recently and just got up to tier 2. In mind I have Damian Wayne, but I call him RebirthRobin and his main weapon of choice is the staff. In the comics or at least in the recent animated films, Damian uses a ninja like sword, sometimes 2 of them. I have that as my back up, to keep him close to the character, but I really am getting into the staff style. Of course I've used the points to master in both. I haven't tried every weapon style out there, but these 3, along with dual pistols, are what I'm used to. (Haven't used DP much tho.) The one thing I love about staff is the way that thing twirls around, stunning the opponent, going this way and that. I've had Robin knock me around with that a few times in the Ivy mission. Now I'm giving it right back.

Even though this has been asked a number of times, I thought about asking this one cause I'd really like to know what others think. What's either your opinion on the best weapon available, your favorite choice, or both?

I'm just a Sorcery healer. Started in 2011 with Bow. I later started using Pistols because of how strong the conal attack was (holding the ranged attack button). However, I went back to Bow with the changes of how we spend out Points, this giving me more healing and less dps.

For ranged combat, it's Handblasters without a doubt. I've always liked comic characters who could project energy and the weapon itself gives me a nice level of control over what I attack. Plus the Pulse Beam attack is cool. :D The only other ranged weapon I've put on characters for regular combat is Bow, and that was done for the character (cupid-themed character on one, super-soldier archer on another).

Melee gets more varied. Brawling, Shield, Dual Wield and One-Handed all have seen use on my characters. It helps mix things up a bit since I go so heavy with Handblasters on ranged attacks.

Dual wield was my first weapon choise and i have always liked it. Even before DCUO it looked cool imo.
Luckily dual wield is one of those op weapons now, so i can get best of both worlds.

HB for both DPS/Troll even when it was awful back in the day lol - strayed a few times.. always went back to it

Depends what you are doing. Handblasting used to be my favorite for healing but the main move I liked was pulse beam and you can get locked into that animation for a second and that can lead to poor response times in emergency heal situations. So I like to stick with easier to clip combos like bows flurry shot or the hold hold hand blaster combo.

If you arent going weapons expert snd just want to clip attacks and maybe stay in character with the themes you've created with your toons staffs double slam is really good and imo the best non weapons expert weapon attack for clippable damage.

Oh I'm definitely trying to go weapons expert on my Robin/Damian toon. I'm going serious on feats more so on this one than I ever have done before on any other toon. I want those skill points.

If you are going weapons expert then there is a clear best though people will call you a bandwagon hopper. Duel wield bow for single target ranged used tap hold for flurry and bow martial arts tap hold hold for smoke bomb. Crazy damage. Probably gonna be nerfed though people are complaining about it.

Which would be a major step back. Dual wield->flurry and bow->smoke bomb are good but nowhere near Nerf worthy. One of my alts is precision based using 2 precision artifacts and he gets smoked by a few other powers. That being said each of the cookie cutter precision builds do Excel in CERTAIN situations. Bow-> SB excels in raids where there are a lot of trash ads but is fairly mediocre in other situations. Being good in a few of the raids does not merit a Nerf imho.

Yeah you need 2 armories so you can switch between smoke bomb and flurry depending on if its add phase or single target. If you have both at your disposal its fairly hard to beat but certain powers can.

My choice of weapons have been Hand Blaster for my troll and healer roles. I used Two-Handed > Arrow Storm and Dual Wield > Explosive Shot for a while with the old WM. I've been thinking of trying Rifle in the healer role.

For DPS I used Dual Wield or Shield. Currently using Martial Arts to fit my toon better looks wise.

I love rifle. I just wish they’d get rid of mortar or replace it with a sniper themed attack. But that’s another discussion. :)

Brawling started as my favorite but in 2011 adds were ruff so I used the staff. Loved the effectiveness of the staff but good old brawling was my favorite

I'd say favorite but that Shields a close second if not option 1b

    I am an altaholic. LOL

I like them all and pick them based on what I want my character to do. Not so much on damage potential. Some shine more than others and that's a fact.

Shield is weird for me.. I love the look and feel of it - but as soon as I use it in combat I just become inept LOL

I tip my hat to you on being able to expand your weapon use. For me there are just some weapons that I can't get into the groove of using, or they just feel awkward when I've tried using them.

I think that has to do with the number of clicks in the combos. They take too long. The devs could help shield and other weapons out out by adding another input to help with the animation times and how fluid they could be.

Some of the weapons definitely take a bit of figuring out. I just put up with some of them being kind of slow.

ifor me, the movement while shooting rifle offers works well. not sure / don't care where rifle ranks in terms of dmg output. the lack of a lunge attack of rifle is annoying, however.
