Episode currency on Marketplace after GU, seriously?

Actually it does effects the game. The queues will be slower. The population will be smaller, since there is no point running the content if you don't need to earn tokens in order to level up your character. It is not about that someone is higher cr. Who cares? It is about the whole gameplay experience, the predatory monotization. The fact that you either grind or just open the wallet. It is like that you just pay to win the maraton, not participate in it. Every bit of fun sucked out of the game at this point. But i quess if someone pay their way to be in a full gear on day 1, they can pat themselves on the back. I am sorry, but if you can just "bend" the rules of a game this hard, then it is just simply bad.

Nah, there will be some who still come in to 'DPS Comp' or talk crap in LFG/Trade. That and they'll need to do SOME runs to make sure their SP stays 'top' so their buddy's can have something to be jealous of. Don't forget grabbing another wolfie any time a new arti comes out so they have 28 arts to swap.

LOTS of stuff to buy....er DO, still.

If dcuo is the golden goose, why such a big pricy episode currency for a small play base? Just something I'd like to see reason to understand this goal or ideas on what can and won't make money.

I have left my league and have decided that I cannot support the game anymore. After all these years and 885sp the time has come for me to hang up my cape. it's a very sad day, I do still have a lot of love for the game but I cannot carry on seeing just how badly we are being treated, lacklustre content, game breaking bugs absolutely everywhere, broken missions, bases and when we express our disappointment we get warnings from the community team, despite them being absent 99% of all other times.

The time has come to say enough is enough and I wish things could be different but sadly there seems to be no passion for the game anymore from the people in charge. It's been fun and I have many many great memories, sadly tarnished by the last couple of years.

It's amazing to me how many players are coming in to say 'That's it....I'm cancelling my sub when it's up!'.

Like, why were you still subbing up UNTIL this? Should have dropped that crap when wolfies+ No more 2x came out....Or when they removed stabilizers from daily grants. Or when they made all eps FTP and EEG to take 5x as long as it did previously. They've obviously NOT wanted us subbing for a long time now.

My sub has been gone a long time now. I haven't spent a penny on the game in almost 2 years. All this is doing is likely cutting down my gameplay even more. And it's already been cut at least 50% from a few years ago...probably more than that. I'm a junkie, so I'll probably never truly 'quit' the game...but SPENDING on it? Yeah...crossed that threshold years ago when 'membership' became a 'discount plan'.

But, welcome to the Premium club anyway! Membership HERE is free.

Fixed that for you. They can ALWAYS make a worse decision. Don't sell them short.;)

Daybreak, you have PR nightmare occurring right now. I worked for a major marketing firm whose customer are the Fortune 500 / 100 companies, universities, and charitable organizations. I would strongly encourage you to get out in front of this.

    Acknowledge and Address Concerns Transparently

    • Open Communication: Immediately acknowledge the concerns of your players. Release a statement or video addressing the changes, explaining the rationale behind them, and directly addressing the perception that this is a “money grab.”
    • Clarify Intent: Clearly explain the purpose of the increased currency and additional tasks. If the intent was to create a more engaging and rewarding end-game loop, communicate this openly.

    2. Adjust the In-Game Economy

    • Reevaluate Currency Costs: Review and potentially lower the cost of gear in the game’s currency to a more reasonable level, in line with the previous episode. Make it clear that this adjustment is in response to player feedback and aims to maintain a fair and enjoyable experience.
    • Increase Rewards for Participation: Consider increasing the rewards for completing daily tasks, raids, or other activities. This can help offset the perception that players need to buy currency to keep up. Acknowledge and Address Concerns Transparently

Wait! They increased the gear cost too? They are really trying to bore us to death with the grind.

I agree that it's a bad idea and completely devalues the game experience. I understand that there are people who spend the money and want everything easy, but I think there are other ways.

Also that something like this, just makes the game walk towards bad omens that I do NOT wish to be fulfilled. I love this game and it has many the possibilities to be a great game again. Please take care of it because we players also deserve it after so many years of loyalty.

Dunno about Neverwinter, but that's not how it works in STO. Zen is their marketplace currency, and you have to buy it. Players can get refined Dilithium in game, capped at 8K/day. Dilithium is useful for upgrades and some other stuff. Players can trade dilithium for Zen (and vice versa) on the Dilithium Exchange. There's been an issue with the DilEx being maxed out thanks to botting to generate max amounts of dilithium, so I'm not sure what state the market's in. (Also, most of the dilithium sinks are used up, so there's less to spend it on, reducing demand.)
Also Cryptic's games are moving to DECA, so there's big changes coming to those games. (They're not changing owners, they're changing studios.)

There should be a healthy balance between gameplay and monetization. What we have is very unhealthy. Currently the strongest superpower in this game we have is: "I am rich."

It is very much appreciated that the Episodes are free and it is understandable that they should put things on sale to make money but it is true, there must be a balance. Not everything should be free but neither should you pay to be the fastest and best in such an easy way if...

I just checked after reading that. I seem to recall the last episode being around 480 to complete (240 on alts after buying the feat), and this one is a little less than that (425), so I don't see much of a difference. I do think it's a bit crazy how much the gear costs for someone who doesn't play daily content every day, but that's a whole other can of worms.

I don't think this is as big an issue as people seem to make it, because who is truly surprised? I mean ever since those wolfpack tokens were released, nothing has been the same. This isn't a gaming company anymore, it's a dairy farm and we're the cows. They clearly want to rack up as much as they can before sinking the ship and jumping off. Look at the state of this dlc; it's clear as day that content isn't the main focus anymore. It takes months and months to fix/adjust things, but it's a matter of HOURS if it's something related to the marketplace. Keep playing only if you truly enjoy the game, but PLEASE, stop giving them your hard earned money since it's never put to good use.

EDIT: They completely disregard testers and their feedback now, they will most likely release another trash elite plus version without having it on test. Enjoy!

I've played the game for 14 years. It's now possible for someone who created a toon on Monday, to be better geared with a higher CR than me by Friday. This is a slap in the face to anyone who has played the game for more than a month.

Hmmm, one concerning thing that I did notice is we have to now buy the episode augments. I'd normally chalk that up to a bug, but then there's this thread.

Please, skills will always outweigh those with money to purchase everything. Having the ability to purchase everything does not allow you to ignore game mechanics who don’t care about what your skill points or gear you have on. You either hate or love it but moving on is what everyone is going to do.
  19. Geri_mester Active Player

I recieved both of the adaptive augments when i was doing the introduction missions, so that is probably a bug.

Odd, do you recall at what stage? I did the daily missions, but I haven't completed the bounty-level missions yet nor the mission to do the instances.
