Currently for returning players, certain episodes allow for currency exchange between obsolete Episode Currency and Source Marks. However a few of the now older episodes still use multiple currencies which is inconsistent with current episodes. Without consistency between episode currency, this makes it very easy for returning or new players to make assumptions that the currency can be exchanged much like the previous and later episodes resulting in mistakes made. This includes Empyrean Aether, Time Beacons, and Encrypted Schematics. Coin of Ra can be currency exchanged currently for Source Marks while Meta Clinic ID, Tarot Cards, and Bizarro Samples are used for current episodes before eventually being currency exchanged. Empyrean Aether, Time Beacons, and Encrypted schematics should be able to be converted to source marks and become unnecessary for vendor purchases to coincide with the same currency structure as Tarot Cards and Bizarro Samples in the last 2 Episodes.
For returning players, they shouldn't be bothered at all by the currencies those episodes bounties drop. In fact, they are not even needed to progress for a new or returning player at all. For your argument about inconsistency, I see nothing inconsistent about it. Ever since the launch of episodic bounties that revolve around the real world clock instead of a timer from they were last killed, they have been very consistent in how they handle them. They have their own currency you farm to infinity, they have styles you can purchase with them, they run on clock, episode augments to further boost the mark yield you get. Lastly while it does help keep those episodes somewhat alive, the marks they give do not have a lockout on them. Meaning you can in theory infinitely farm them over and over. If they were to be exchanged for source marks, not only would it devalue the episodes bounty system, one could farm source marks to infinity in these situations. In closing, they have made them easier as time goes on in terms of frequency of spawns around the clock. When Shock to the System rolls into Omnibus next month, instead of two full rotations per hour, you should see multiple rotations per hour. Good luck with your farming.
I don't believe you understood what I was articulating fully so I will reiterate. The Coins of Ra are currently exchangeable for source marks which is a currency for a newer episode then the Empyrean Aether and Time Beacons. If a returning player has Coins of Ra on them then they can exchange them for source marks and make the assumption that older currency in their inventory can also be exchanged. This is not the case as both Empyrean Aether and Time Beacons cannot be converted which is an inconsistency as it contrasts with the exchange from Coins of Ra.
your comparing two different things. the main episode currency from doing on duty and open world content gets converted. empyrean aether and time beacon were a second currency you only get from doing the open world boss cycles. if you could convert empyrean aether and time beacon to source mark than people would just hang out all day in wonderverse spamming marks and not queueing up.
You're comparing apples to oranges. Look at Dakata City currencies right now. We have the main currency, Meta Clinic ID (which will get converted to source marks) and bounty currency, Encrypted Schematics (which will not get converted to source marks) The same thing applied to the ones in the past. Wonderverse had Splintered Coins as the main currency and Empyrean Aether for the bounty marks Long Live the Legion had Solar Credits as the main currency and Time Beacons for the bounty marks
I do understand that and I would agree if the second currency system with episodes continued throughout the newer episodes but neither Justice League Dark Cursed or Braniac Returns has a second currency. As far as I am aware of the 47 current episodes only 3 episodes contain a second currency and they are no longer the most recent. For this reason I believe Empyrean Aether and Time Beacons should be retired along with their primary currency with conversion to source marks like the current conversion option for older primary currency. This is again a lack of consistency as these 3 episodes to my knowledge are the only episodes with secondary currency and a returning player may not be aware of this.
As already explained this cannot be due to the fact than you could get unlimited source marks. Also, since you can use source marks to buy the other currency it should be a bit of a heads up that this is something else.
Not if the secondary currency is removed and retired from being earnable like some of the other episode main currencies. In this way if players have remaining Empyrean Aether or Time Beacons they can be converted to source marks while they are no longer earnable from sources. Currency would not be unlimited as currency gain would be adjusted to match and be consistent with the other 44 episodes.
That is because those 3 episodes are the only ones that were heavy focus on Open World Bounties. Making it work like youre suggesting would be an infinite source to farm SM without lool locks (because those bounty currency have no loot locks). If this were to happen, it would be something like this: 1) Add loot locks to the bosses, so we could only get the currency once a week. 2) Remove or heavily reduce the amount of SM we get from pickin the mission from the NPC, because otherwise we would be getting double SM. 3) Re adjust the prizes from the vendors that require the bounty marks.
That is exactly what I am recommending with the addition of adding the currency exchange. This way all episode currency would be consistent across episodes. I apologize if that wasn't particularly clear in my previous responses.
Well...i know nothing about programming or coding a game, but that sounds like too much work for such a minor issue...IF it can be considered an issue (its not, in my opinion)
I do but it would be entirely dependent on how they programmed it. It's my feedback and suggestion though. I personally made the mistake after converting Coins of Ra in purchasing Time Beacons thinking I was converting them to source marks. While this was my fault and I should have been more careful reading it, I really do believe this is something that will more than likely happen with other returning players due to the inconsistency that has been discussed. I definitely don't think this is something that would impact current or active players but I do see this as something that may occur for returning players and to be considered or looked into. I brought this up with support and they recommended me post here.
No they should not. That 2nd currency in those episodes is way more farmable than the SM or episode main currency when it was not in EEG. They come from bounties, which can be cashed in 1 time a week. Meaning there is a cap to how much you can farm for SM. The 2nd currencies you mention have no cap, and can be spammed in 20 min rotations (30 for Static...for another month) for something like 30-40 marks every rotation...not including the fact you can double dip on things like the FF. And if you are saying that the older 2 (Eathers and Time Beacons) should instead be tradable for Schematics...the same logic applies. Those currencies are there to bring people to those areas repeatedly. This would drive them away. While I'm no fan of SM spamming, why would anyone run anything else for SM if this 2nd currency could be converted to SM? SM was added to EEG to make those runs more 'attractive' and lure people into running old content. This is yet another thing to put a nail in that coffin if implemented. And Meta Clinic ID, Tarot cards and Bizzaro Samples are from the last 3 DLCs. The last 3 DLC currencies have never been tradable for SM, till that 3rd oldest DLC becomes the 4th oldest. This is VERY consistent with how things have been for a long time. You want consistency...there it is.
It would be investing time than that would make that content dead again... sounds like a bad idea and a waste of time (even if it was simple fix, which in this game probably wouldn't be).
When Wonderverse was getting ready to be converted to EEG (clamped) there was a lot of discussion about how the secondary currency would get handled. The point you made was one that was certainly front and center for good reason. I thought then and still do that they should be/have been converted but at a much lower ratio. This was all a while ago but believe I was proposing somewhere in between a 5:1 ratio and 10:1 ratio which was based on some estimated calculations I'd done. I feel like the ability to convert them would have potentially helped the open world boss circuits stay a bit more relevant and active beyond the weekly T4-6 bounty tour which would help newer feat hunters. Granted, they stayed active for the feats for much MUCH LONGER than many many predicted (and burned out trynna finish em all 1st week). But the WV and Legion feat spams have grown quite sparse as of late. You're certainly correct in that a 1:1 exchange ratio would create the cheesiest source mark spam cheese of all time by far which is no bueno. But like most things in life, it wasn't a binary scenario as far as potential solutions. Something in-between 1:1 conversion and no conversion at all could still be both fair (cheese free) and beneficial or incentivizing IMO. While my position in that debate clearly wasn't on the winning side, some arguments I'd made DID manage to get the secondary currency vendor items converted to being tradable which they previously hadn't been. I guess ya gotta take the wins where ya can get them.
