Elite content and survival mode paradigm shift?

No offense but i would like to challenge a given by the elite players and survival mode champions.
on the forums some players have said nerf survival mode or make the trinkets and styles available to purchase.
The elite players talked about deserving the rewards, because they are all about playing the game well and a competitor, and only they “deserve” it.
I argued it is not that simple, it is team game. I for example have few fellows left and do not run elite or get deep in survival mode, not because i do not know the mechanics or my role but because i am pugging and even if we all randomly are elite, we still are lax because we do not talk and play together repeatedly.... but i digress.
if elite players are all about being the best and not about fun or ease of gameplay...so why should they want the best gear? Normal gear would test their mettle more. Secondly, why would game elite care or worry about style and their trinket look, they are playing to be great...
Just seems weird that they want op gear and trinkets to mock the recreational player.
We recreational players are very clear we like op gear to make stuff easier and we are all about the style...
So to sum to DEVs, stop designing gear, styles, and trinkets for the 5%. I.e. survival stuff should not be tied to the level you get just the cost of the marks (how much you have played ).
For the elite and survival champions give titles we can not get and trophies they can put in their bases and league halls.
if they want to just celebrate their game expertice would they not want op gear and trinkets that do the most damage going to everyone...it would be more proof they are better players...
Just my point on having desirable objects and gear shift from the 5% and to the rest of us. Would help document the elite’s expertise and is quite the missed cash grab for DCUO.
    Stay safe,

You can buy Data Chips in the marketplace, and there are items you can buy in the forever vendor that don't require you to step foot in SM, such as the two newest Chromas and the Source Zeus eyes.

As Khalon said, some of the rewards can be bought without running Survival Mode at all.
It is that simple, the challenge was made for those looking for a challenge. For those wanting to feel like the work, money and time they put into the game and their characters is well invested. If there are rewards you really want, do your part get a group and run survival mode. It's about earning it. Not handing it to everyone because It's "Hard and unfair".

And actually I ran it today and made it to round 14 but had to go. It wasn't hard at all to be fair and I consider myself a casual player.
I even played with the not usual artifacts and loadout (Not Gemini spam) but still did pretty well and enjoyed myself.

Strive to get better, challenge yourself and improve your gaming.

Almost everything in the game can be earned by so-called "non-elite players," even a large section of the Survival Mode rewards which is, in its concept, about playing the game at the very highest level and at having a reason to do so.

I do see how many of these rewards are highly desirable, and I understand the frustration of feeling like you won't be able to get them without changing the way you play. But you can choose to change the way you play to group manually, find a league, etc., rewards that are not desirable are basically a waste of time for us and you, and it is a reliable constant in massive, diverse games that not everyone will choose to participate in every aspect or as a result obtain every reward.

I feel like you are overlooking the impact of things like artifact/SP gatekeeping, especially in the context of limited time rewards. It’s not as simple as just choosing to participate or not. Are the later rounds even possible if people have like lv120 artifacts and like 150sp?
  6. Original Cryo boy Committed Player

The gatekeeping in this instance is intentional. This is a game mode designed specifically to give the most experienced most "powerful" players a challenge and reward for completing the challenge. Of course not everyone will be able to complete it or get the reward its kind of built in. And players don't have the incentive to grind out a round 30 win if someone else can just buy that same style. And the style is less cool if im standing in a crowd of 50 people with the style. Exclusivety is the point. You're doing that thing you do where you ask for nerfs without asking for nerfs

Exclusivity is fine to an extent, of course. But I do think things like combat pets and henchmen should be left out of it. Especially very specific things like Mr. Freeze goons, for instance. Like why are Joker and Riddler goons easily available, but Mr. Freeze’s aren’t? Does that not seem rather arbitrary?

So it's the arbitrary nature of the exclusivity that bothers you or the fact that you kinda want the items? If the exclusive items weren't desirable that kinda ruins the point. At the end of the day this content is not designed for everyone with rewards not available to everyone and that is intentional.

Thank you for promoting this mepps and people need to learn to play better and understand their power and the game properly aswell as play with people that are doing the same and have the same mindset instead of asking for nerfs.

Its common for popular mmo games to have content that is difficult and this is part of a mmo some people havent learned it yet but they have to if they want to play a mmo on the hardest difficulty or close to it the point of SM / Elite content is the difficulty understand this to all those that cry for nerfs everytime because they cant finish something!

I think the concept of having cool exclusive rewards for higher rounds is perfectly fine. I just think maybe they shouldn’t be things taken from iconic characters, because I imagine the overlap between high level survival players and ingame cosplayers/role players is probably extremely low. That’s my concern.

Im a very outspoken person about how i feel about giving the “ elite” mindsets fuel to their flames. Sm is fine in my opinion. I know alot of electric people are gonna be upset they cant get that lightning volt back piece, but idk sm is fine.

What is not fine in myyyyy opinionnnn is if in DLCs that i either pay legendary for or $10 that there would be styles that i can never get unless i play elite. Like the cyborg style where he looks like the teen titan cartoon, that wasn’t cool

Isn't the Mr Freeze stuff the first stuff that unlocks? I know the Freeze pet is the very first pet. Surely you don't want access to the rewards without beating any of it at all? A coordinated group of cr 320s with 120 arts should be able to unlock the first tier of rewards no problem.

Mr. Freeze's henchmen are unlocked at round 15. And Freeze Drone is at round 25.

btw, does anyone have a picture/video of how the R25 Freeze Drone looks like?

It’s a drone like the one in Mepps’ forum avatar. Except the face is replaced with an ice texture.

So you're ok with cool exclusive rewards...but not ok with "things taken from iconic characters" a.k.a. "cool things"?!!?:rolleyes:

What exactly are they supposed to reward these players who put in the time and effort into something that basically only offers bragging rights? You want people to get less desirable rewards? Of course you'll fire back "no, that's not what i'm saying...", except that's exactly what you're saying.

Just like you need to learn to accept the fact that your character can and will die while playing content, you'll also have to learn to accept that they are going to put all kinds of rewards wherever they deem as a good place to put it. It makes ALL the sense in the world that the very coolest items should be earned beating the hardest content in the game. Any argument against that is basically wanting to give those players something of lesser value so that you can selfishly go ahead and put in less work to get those highly desired items (whether it's by grinding easier content or whipping out your wallet).

You should be overgeared enough now that with a little attention paid to the mechanics means you can easily earn the necessary renown to get the style you desire. But if running Elite after the content is not as challenging anymore is too much of a bother, maybe you don't really want it as much as you claim.

Okay, that's what you think. What's your actual argument for your position by which you expect to persuade other people with logic?

    Sure it is. So what?

What's your argument beyond "I want those things!" and "we should all be able to get all things!"?

You're certainly entitled to say "I wish I could earn those iconic things!"

But "concern" about "ingame cosplayers" is classic concern-trolling. If other people have concerns, they get to voice them; you're not an appointed spokesperson for anyone besides yourself.

"I want those iconic things, but I'm claiming it's because of my deep concern for other players who somehow can't speak for themselves!" isn't an argument that flies.

If "everyone should have access to those iconic things because I want to have them for myself!" isn't a good enough argument, you need to find another argument that works, rather than attempting to argue that it's not that you yourself want cool things easily but that you're protecting other players' ability to get cool stuff.

Personally idc about SM. I run the elite 6-8 times for gear and I'm done. But this post has proved the people who argue Artifacts not P2W because anything can be beat with 120 Artifacts. That's now wrong. You can't run high level SM with 120 Artifacts.
Elites do want it all though. The difference from 329 to 331 is massive in stats. It will never be enough. They will always want more exclusives

Yep! It can never not be somewhat arbitrary. How are they supposed to make these decisions other than just their judgment of what's desirable and would fit well in a certain place? When making items in an MMO, they have to decide what's going to be worth what and there's really no way to do so that isn't at least somewhat arbitrary. Arguably, value in general is partially arbitrary. Have you heard of the situation with diamonds?
