This has gotten even worse than before it was fixed the first time.
    Check it out:

This needs to be fix or reverted. Dual wield now out classes every weapon in the game with a ranged attack while it is a melee weapon.

Blah blah "nerf this weapon" >.> When are my Dual Pistols gonna get a buff? lol

Though that is some serious damage just off the charge hit I must admit o.o

So... It's a melee weapon that you have to charge to 100%, multitarget, AND it no longer SPLITS?! LOL

Why did they nerf staff? *hangs head*

you guys are crying for a dw nerf now?...just wont be happy untill hl/celest/rage are the only viable dps powers will you? all other powersets actualy use the weapon to get weapon damage. tbh i can do the same exact dps using rifle at twice the powercost. stop your rally against weapons that actually do damage and rally against weapons that dont do damage instead? seems much smarter to me

No, I want staff to go back to the way it was. :( I just find it funny how biased the devs were with this pass of "adjustments".

Considering the length of the charge and the vulnerability, just keep it this way. No more nerfs, just buff other weapons.

No, this is extremely out of line. Especially compared to every other weapon currently.
Simply put DW Charged Double Throw damage is to T5 gear as Every other weapon is to T1.
  8. Giggles Loyal Player

Yeah I have to agree with the OP it is out of line. DW needs to be adjusted accordingly, at the very least no one should be able to jump cancel its animation and retain the damage. No melee weapon should do more ranged damage than a ranged weapon, just as no ranged weapon should ever do more melee damage than an actually melee weapon.

Constant nerf requests kill the game. It doesn't even contribute to balance, its just all bad. Ask for buffs instead. Also the devs seem pretty happy to put out nerfs rather than buffs. Why is this? I don't want to speak for them but the actions show that nerfs are handed out like candy and sometimes unjustly. (looking at staff)

EDIT: Also we should rejoice that people are using weapons to do massive damage anyway, I know I'm happy, that weapons can damage just as well as powers. Not to mention the charge time on DW and as someone above said, its vulnerability. Makes my job a little easier in the long run.

The problem is clipping it then comparing it with clipping other charged attacks. On its own, Charged Double Throw has a horribly slow animation delay in addition to its slow charging time. In this case, it becomes balanced as you can deal the same damage with any other weapon during this timeframe. When you clip it though, it becomes nearly as fast as any other charged attacks but still retaining its damage.

When this gets nerfed and people go back to grenade clipping, and every other weapon is weak. I'll consider stepping down from trolling, since all this will do is encourage less weapon use (even more than now) and more power spam. That is until they rework all of the weapons and BUFF for balance.

It's a dilemma even for the devs. I remember them acknowledging it in the last testing phase. The only way I could think of to completely balance the attack is by reworking it completely, maybe making it work like Two-Handed's Hammer Throw but even that has its pros and cons.

I have no problem with them buffing weapons. My issue I have with it being like this it's a on trick pony that wins the race. Scorecard chasers rely on this to make them feel big. There is no skill to this. It's like rifle grenade spam and HB solar flare. That's ALL you do. Why should you do anything else? This is easy and has good results.

I hate this bias that breeds lack of skill. If I can't keep up with another person who is good, then great I still need to learn my powers and weapons, but anyone and their mother can figure out to hit tap>power, hold>tap>power, or hold>power.

Please devs undo the recent nerfs and actually go through ALL the weapons. They should be equal melee and range, they aren't. I want to have differing playstyles and choose my own weapon.

1 weapon should not be the solution to all of this games content. We should all have to use 1 me ee weapon and 1 ranged weapon, depending on the situation.

Even if you went with that theory, Giggles, that wouldn't change the imbalance between range and melee nor the emblance between range and range and melee and melee.

That's why a balance pass should be done to ensure that all range weapons excel at range, and all Melee excel at Melee. There's no reason they can't buff range weapons or give them a perk equal to Melees perk. All I am saying is, the answer is not making Melee better than it already is. The answer is ensuring that we need to use a weapon of each type. Period. :)

This past weapon update was just another in a long line of band aid fixes that try to address the ongoing problems with weapons in this game. Just like the other band aids, the actual weapon imbalance issues remain with new "OP" weapons to replace the old ones. The foundation of this game is it's unique combat compared to all other mmo's, to see that foundation crumble because of long ignored weapon issues is just sad.

Whether it means skipping yet another valentine's day seasonal or some other update(s), a dedicated weapon update needs to be one of if not the top priority.

That update could be what BB wants and all weapons become truly equal or what Giggles wants and range and melee excel at their namesake. Either way, as long as all weapons receive a full overhaul that allows us to put this OP nonsense behind us, works for me.

There has been a lot of talk surrounding weapons in the past few months and a lot of it I ignore because it's just fighting between people. People have a rifle so they want other things nerfed, people can't get a rifle so they want their weapon buffed, people get killed by a weapon in PvP so they assume it's too strong. This statement above is what I'd like to see, though.

The weapon damage should come down to mathematics. Let's take the current highest on live, the 88 weapon. (I always go back to trolls, sorry. Easiest for me and easier than trying to distinguish DPS-might and DPS-prec.) Each 88 controller weapon has the exact same stats down the board, namely damage per second and precision stat. In general, we know how much damage each of those weapons should do in total over a set time span.

It starts getting a little messy when we look at individual combos. The Ranged Tap on Martial Arts is quicker than the Ranged Tap on 1-Handed, for instance. So the amount of damage on a single Ranged Tap for MA should be less than a single Ranged Tap for 1H. However, since we know how much damage each weapon does in a set time span...these numbers should be able to be calculated.

Another wrench in the mix would be the melee/ranged bonus. However, I'm unsure that that bonus should be causing the current discrepancies. I also realize that what I described above isn't foolproof in computer coding. You have ranges for the damage numbers instead of one set value. You also have crits thrown into the mix. But it should be possible to check the values on each weapon so that it's not a cry for nerf this and buff that.

Bob, from what Loche said in my thread a while back, it seems that clipping muddles the problem more than anything. As DPS stands for "Damage Per Second". Since we can shorten(clip) an animation time, this changes the DPS of a weapon. It also changes the amount of damage based on the animation time too. This is why Spin Chop's animation was shortened and Home Run's animation was lengthened. They did do a lot of work on some weapons, but they have yet to do ALL at once. As CJ said about bandaids, eventually the game will fall apart. A full weapon fix needs to be in order and soon.

There is no varience in weapons chosen to do current high end content. We have 3 and it will be only 3 until they do another small adjustment. The next DLC has a weapon vendor, can you guess which ones will be the most purchased with 70 marks?
