was wondering if anyone else out there would like to have a character with 2 support roles instead of dps/support. personally i would run all day without sleep and a empty jug for bathroom breaks if i could have an ice tank/water healer hero to flip back and forth between as needed!!! Support ALL day!
The solo leveling and Challenge Modes of a character who can only be Healer/Controller would be brutal. I prefer my Support role on almost every powerset, but I do like having DPS as an option.
I'd have my tank/heals, tank/troll, and heals/troll and my pure dps alt. That's 4. And they could always buff your burn if you enter those instances as a combo role. Just like they buff us for new episodes if we're under level.
Umm.. Hmm... I am not sure it will work for this game; it may require rewriting the entire combat system. Even COH had weapon/dps mechanics for their generous support roles. Ahh.. I miss my dual-wield regen scrapper (off-tank).
I have been thinking about this as well. I think its a great idea, but the role can't exist at the start of the game. So I was thinking, you can add three new powers. Here is what I would use, but honestly they could be anything: Serums: Tank/Healer Blue lantern: Tank/Troll Star Sapphire: Healer/Troll You can only obtain them when a character hits a combat rating of 200 or something, You get a free role change token (that only works for the new powers) at that time. So if you want a new role, you need to work for it.
oh, i never thought of it being a whole new powerset...GREAT idea!!! That would probably be much easier than trying to fit ice and water into a new combo role. #fingerscrossed
Not necessarily, if you allow for let's say Fire to spec as a Tank, Troll and Healer. Alts would be used for different power sets still.
The only reason I play alts is to have access to different roles, if I could do all four roles on 1 character why would I use alts?
That's you, I have a red lantern and a green lantern, both dps; my experience is different than yours and different from the next player. You have to look beyond yourself, not everyone is going to make the same decisions or have the same reasons for playing the game than you.
I did look beyond myself, I'm not the only one that uses alts as a means to play all roles. So you have two lanterns that are both DPS, how exactly does opening up multiple support roles impact those two characters?
lol, I was using me as an example, I have two boys that have multiple alts for the different power sets; they both would love the option to open up the other support roles for the different powersets
And you don't care how that would affect everyone else? Did you consider how that would hit DBG's pockets since it's cutting other people's playtimes?
Actually I don't think it would hurt their pockets at all. Say they make a settings power that's dual (didn't say 4) support. Now a person like me who's sometimes in the mood to tank and sometimes in the mood to heal will have a character to play how he feels any day. As of the way it is now, I have a water heals and ice tank but with work and kids etc I don't have time to keep both leveled so I only end up playing with the 1. So they're not losing any money cuz I'd still playing with one but just how I like to play. You can still have alts to cover all the different powers you like to play.
There’s no way it can be dual, it’s already dual, it would have to be tri and if it’s tri the. might as well make it quad.
After thinking about it a bit more, it would be interesting to see some other powersets perform different support roles. Having to rebalance all of the powersets would be a nightmare.
ok I see what you're saying/thinking with the "tri" thing. But I'm suggesting is that there's noooo dps side so it'd still be duo. Hence the "dual support spec".
