I revamped my earth tank and have been getting funny numbers. On the old setup I was usually top or near top (sometimes you get a stupid DPS that likes to stand between you and the boss every chance they get) on "Damage In". I revamped him to a turtle tank because he was having survival issues in raids. I went with brick instead of stone skin, changed to the neck socket that gives the bonus for blocking instead of while not blocking, and have been keeping my shield on constant cool down (build was too power hungry to do this before). I know I am eating as much if not more damage than I was before but getting strange results. Just now I played and Alert with 2 DPS and a heler. They were on mics (have voice set to off cause i dont have one) and forgot to tell me they were doing feat runs. It was the alert War Crimes and they were doing the feat where you kill 18 of his adds. They were hiding in safe corners picking them off one by one while Ol' Capn Marzan was unloading on me for almost 10 minutes. Then at the end they were trying some other feat on Eclipso and letting him kick on my butt for a while. I know I ate TONS of damage that fight but at the end it looked something like this (didnt couunt the zeros but all places had same number of didgets) DPS 1) 71K damage in DPS 2) 70k damage in My tank) 68k damage in Healer) 64k damage in I know i took damage for days but the scorecard says I just barely ate more than the healer? He stood at the back...you know just doing his thing. So whats up is it just not counting the damage soaked? Is there some other mechanic im not aware of ?
Yeah, I’m controller in open world dailies so I can use distract/grandeur/survival to turn cogs that expire before I can kill all the enemies. The damage that’s mitigated doesn’t show in my combat tab, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the scoreboard also didn’t record that damage.
Yeah grey dmg or as you say "soaked dmg" will not show as dmg in. I personally think it should be being a tank but it doesnt. Technically it probably doesnt count since it doesnt directly interact and affect your character and take any of their hp but rather an enveloping ability such as you shield takes it for you. And if the attack does more dmg than your shield can take the remainder will come up as the red numbers and they will be recorded under dmg in. With also being earth as well, you were most likely using gemstone shield which not only has a nice cap max but has a low cast time with a long duration which helps keep dmg off. Different tanking types rely on shields and some dont. Id expect a higher dmg in for rage and atomic tanks.
Yep, this has always been the case. My ice tank can never get the statue in the league hall for "taking damage in". On the other hand, though...ice tanking FTW.
