Does it really matter? Is there a power that you don't want to be grouped with?

I've been reading through a number of the threads about DPS. Arguments about this power having this strength that puts it above that power/all other powers. I like the idea of it being balanced, but does it really matter?

I mean, I have one of my DPS armory builds that has the style set as I like it right now, the loadout is not peak DPS. I have it because I like the visuals that are tied to the various power selections. I can complete the Solo, Duo, Alert and Raids fine, I am not hampering the group.

I was looking at threads and reading various posts/responses, and the major statement in most request for change instances is I am not top DPS or I am bottom DPS. I think that maybe this is why I am so happy with the revamp, I genuinely don't care.

The point that I begin to care is when a power gets singled out as the one that people don't want to have in a Duo/Alert/Instance. Is there a power that you would turn away just because of the power when you need a DPS/Healer/Tank/Troll? Is the reason because the power is weak or because the group roles have to adjust and play differently or is it because the power is actually a "weak" power? I like working with the differing powers because they offer a different experience, but that's me. It would be interesting running a raid with a support role heavy party, 0 or 1 DPS, just to see it happen (tanks, healers and trolls oh my!)

I don't wanna be grouped with another nature dps....only because I know they probably never healed with nature...and that says alot.

I'm asking more as in you just do not want the power in the group, period.

Here's how I look at it:

if player A (we'll say player has CR203 with 340sp) is out DPSing player B (we'll say this guy has CR202 with 320sp) by lets say 50-100k, I dont see that being alot of damage, then again by the end of a raid we aren't doing the 20mil we were doing before either, or the 9-13mil per alert. So to me as long as everyone is within range of everyone provided they are on equal playing field SP/CR wise then I dont see the big point.

because as crappy said in his thread, every power has its own advantage and its own situation when it will shine over others. If you can't make your power shine when its suppose to then thats nobodies fault except yours (generally speaking not you personally). Not the power you play, not b/c another power is 'OP' or none of this BS thats been floating around since revamp went live.

tbh now I wanna see all powers, to see how they are doing in the hands of different skilled people. If they perform roughly the same or if in better hands they shine or not.

Not atm, but i hated to play with another fire players back when our dots overwrited each others.

I dont see why anyone would have an issue being grouped with a players thats a certain power. Actually from what ive seen only fotm people think this way and have issues like this. Only people who wanna be carried usually want a specific powerset in the group. If some groups kicks ya because of the power u play they probably did ya a favor.

I refuse to play with any power who has the potential to double my damage while not even having 1/4 of my sp since that would be just broken im my books cause i am a skillful damage dealer since 5 years now and at almost max sp :p however that didnt happen since revamp and my competitive mood is increasing to the max as soon a damage dealer with same power as me is joining the group.

PS: Thats actually not accurate, i refused to play with gorila nature until it got fixed.
  9. Apollodarkblade21 Well-Known Player

I refuse to play with another quantum dps because if they do even 1 damage more then me I spend the next hour infront of training dummies trying to squeak out 2 extra damage so I can say haha I'm better. In all seriousness as long as they know how to play the power and we make it through content I could care less what power they are.

I mean I prefer to get through content quickly so rn it's more of a prefer to have an electric or Earth or rage or nature in the group rather than specific powers not. I just don't want specific powers as much in the group

previously it never mattered to me. obviously you don't want someone whos going to be counterproductive but i was always okay with support roles in duos and alerts. even okay with two healers and/or trolls in a raid. for me an instance needs to run as long as it needs to provided its "quality time".

now i'm not so sure. it isn't so much the power of the player in question but we're currently in a pit of if ou don't know what you're doing you're going to make it harder on everyone else.

As such I currently do not want to see people trying to skip over content or try to bite off more than they can chew.

I read that some powers are better in some content and bad in other content and i can see a real problem coming from this. You will end up with some powers not getting let into content and people not being able to get some feats or finish certain raids because they don't have the right power for example you might see this in LFG: dps needed for fos 2 only earth allowed or healer needed for fos 3 only electric or dps needed for fos 1 no nature.

I'm quantum and for the first few days of revamp I was doing this LOL - but now i'm in a "happy place" and just go with the flow.. do my best to get through and get on with the game :) - it is actually an ego boost to sometimes get asked my loadout/rotation - but what is cool is that not all just use it they expand on it or dismiss it as not for them, regardless of how well it "scored"

I still hate playing with Lanterns; they spread out the NPCs all over the place.
    Takes forever to kill them.
  17. TITAN ephemeral Loyal Player

    I worry about ME
    1) If I should be no1 in my category...Im highest CR for control/dps/heal whatever...and Im not...then something is wrong with ME
    2) If i can do my job easily I should pick up/ do mechanics...much more than someone just at CR whos fighting a single add in the corner to the death while those very same enemies cant even touch me
  18. High Troller Loyal Player

in the universal soldier raid...as a tank...i rather not the rage dps go melee. it's hard to see the missile if there's one on my because of rage's range combo. the animation for that rage combo just splatters over the missile animation.

Lower content I hate Hard light trollers. Alot of them just want to be Green lantern and don't troll good that tier. I see this alot from T1-T3. They don't debuff some don't even power dump. Once I hit T4/T5 it usually changes. I used to leave the group if I saw a HL troll but a few changed my mind. Now I just watch to make sure they know how to do basic troller stuff.
  20. Fatal Star 10000 Post Club

Don't wanna be grouped with electric. Ran USR today and had 4 electric DPS. Me being celestial I felt like it was AMs all over again. Couldn't get more then three combos off on adds cause they just melted with the arc lightning spam since it doesn't split. I know it's arc lightning cause boss fights we stayed nuetral.
