Well... point is that a troll cant do that if ordered to switch to DPS.

And yes, it should be part of the troll's role... provided the troll knows what they're doing and what abilities to use as not all of them provide buffs or debuffs.

If you are a good troll and playing the role of a power troll you would normally spec into VIT to give out the most power to your team.

But, your buffs/debuffs would be lacking; you'd want to spec into DOM for those to work better.

So basically NO, you're not doing the same thing.

Like I said, I did the same thing as a buff/battle troll. It's more about the artifacts, the loadouts between buff and power troll are the same. You don't have to spam your debuffs (unless you want to build your SC), so after using one of them, you can focus on the mechanics of the fight.

Dominance doesn't affect the strength of your debuffs. It's the artifact, amulet of rao. And as whatever troll you are, you will use it anyway.

I think he means a standard troll, where you do dumps and debuffs without getting cute about doing damage or concentrating mainly on 'buffing' the group.

Yeah, technically any one of the troll variants should be able to also throw debuffs, so it's not really a thing on it's own.

Yes, you are correct about that... I wasnt thinking clearly. DOM is mainly just for shields and has been for a while.

Dom affects buffs/debuffs? Or are you talking about crowd control?

Health gives better buffs for Cog/Tetra/Azar
Rao gives better better debuffs
DOM is for Dominance checks which varies per content

The worst part was that i have such high troll artifacts and very low dps. I jumped to tank roll because i got tired of being pushed dps or being treated like worthless bc I refused to go dps and stayed troll. I was running legion a few months ago and the water healer asked me to switch, but at that point i had just switched to mental... mental dps is a job, idk why people like it...I refused and when i died during boss fight someone stood over me and t bagged me. Artifacts have made trolls useless. People feel that the damage a debuff does is pointless and groups would be better off with a dps.

I sorta think the attitude towards trolls is different on eu server because everybtime a thread like this pops up it eu people calling this a false claim. But on us we run elite raids with no controller after the dlc has been out for around 2 months if even that long

The only time a troll is ever really needed is for Raids (Elites, and some regular for sure), and late round SM. Most of the time 2 (6 for raids) might DPS will produce more damage then 1 (5) DPS getting buffed by a 160+ tetrahedron. Trolls are nice when you have them, but not missed if gone.

imo... Buff trolling and Debuffing are aspects of trolling that i feel should stay and are really useful, giving power back always seemed like the most useless function of the role especially considering that you can pop a soda every so often. I think the troll role would be great if the idea of buffing and debuffing were expanded upon beyond just dps stats, like buffing the groups health significantly so that certain attacks are no longer 1 shots and greatly increasing their value. Also, just making controller be more of what the name of the role is, being able to control things for longer duration with knock ups stuns etc bc right now it seems pointless to call them controllers when adds break out of stuff within the second and gain immunity and what not. as of now i feel my job as a troll is to make the dps hit harder and do raid mechanics that the healer tank and stubborn dps wont do. just what i think about troll atm, would be a healer if i didnt have like 6 200 troll artifacts tbh kinda bored of it

While a decent argument, and one I agree with, that doesn't stop them from kicking you. And that's a pain. But it really isn't just trolls, tanks are in the same boat when it comes to alerts. And like I mentioned earlier, even healers are becoming useless in anything outside of a raid. Has anyone tried just ignoring? Cuz it works lol. Had someone tell me to switch from tank in the duo the other day. Little did they know that I was 90% dps but in tank mode so I could melee heatwave without dying repeatedly. I ignored and did more damage and that player probably never even took a hit from heatwave. Left saying "you're welcome"

I ignore people when they ask me to change roles in a alert and go about my business but if a dps and it's always a dps wants to push it I just let them know when they pay my subscription then they can tell me what to do .

Battle troll + dps should be better than 2 dps.

As long as Battle and Buff trollers able to keep group powered up just fine and have advantage over Power troller, yes power troller will not be prefered. Why should they?

As a general set up power troller (parasite amulet soul cloak) a single recharge grants:
Prec buff (recharge itself)
x3 prec buff with parasite (with 3 type of controller debuffs applied which is not realistic)

In the other hand A buff or Battle troll set up (Claw Amulet Cog / Tetra) a single recharge grants:
24% vit for yourself (claw)
20% PoT increase (claw)
7% might - dom - resto (claw)
5% crit chance and magnitude (claw)

20% prec buff (recharge itself)

Prec or Might buff depending on Cog or Tetra artifacts.

Furthermore, a battle/buff troll can keep up the power well enough with all these buffs in present. That results power troller = inefficent role.

Also in some situations a battle / butt troll is better than having a dps in group (especially in elite alerts) since overall buff and debuffs will result faster burn.

I don’t care what role people are as long as they’re actually doing it. Queued the new normal duo, got a minimum cr troll, I don’t care, we did it. It’s a shame other people don’t feel that way.

I run all contents as a troll, and I fully agree with you. I lost counts how many times people told me to switch to dps, but I stayed as troll and told them i would buff you. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't and they left. I find that making group for duo/alert as a troll is harder than tank/heal, like few hours ago, i tried the elite duo and someone just left in less than 10s because I was troll.

I have had people complain about my trolling, I've had people complain about my dps-ing. I have been told to switch both ways. Ultimately, it doesn't matter much to me which roll I am. That's why I have armories based around trolling and others based around dpsing.
Basically, anyone who thinks I suck at either roll and has suggestions then politely make them. Anyone who meets me in an alert or raid, just say to switch and I will...just don't complain if we needed a controller and y'all said to dps or we needed a dps and y'all said control.
