Just as there is Might DPS and Prec DPS gear, shouldn't there be different types of gear for other roles as well? Maybe a healer doesn't want to be all resto. Maybe they want less resto but more Heal Crit %? Maybe a Controller wants less vit but more power Crit %, or crit magnitude? Maybe a tank wants less health, but more defense? I just think it sucks how any two controllers with 103CR have the exact same gear or very close... There's no uniqueness to our characters when it comes to gear (please don't turn this thread into a SP thread.) You should have the ability to target gear that is specced towards your preferred style of play, rather than one single way that the devs deem the correct way for your role.
They're one way. Not the way... Which is why we have both Might and Precision DPS gear. The SP and Mods differences are minor.
You can to an extent already thru modding an yes SP does play a part too depending on if you have enough to spec into your second and third traits. If as a controller you if you have 75 SP you'll be able to get all (or close) to your T1/T2 vit, but you'll miss on cunning. At 95 or so you'll get Vit/Cunning and maybe a few dom. It's not till after the 120 SP will you be able to do much more. For modding it's easier...do I go Vit or Vit/Power in yellow? Vit/Prec, Vit/Might reds or go for straight damage? Blues..do I go Dom, Dom/Health or Vit/Health. The choise is already yours and will make small differences. The same can be said for healers but with resto mods. Lastly I don't think it's the "devs way" as you stated, but rather how the community looks at each role and forces it down your throat to allocate mods and SP. If I modded for DOM, Damage and resto (for shields) @ 103 CR I'd likely find it harder to group up / or not get kicked when if pugging if someone asked my vit or tick and my response was 1850.
I know what you mean, but don't you think that became the mentality of the community because we have been forced to spec into 2400+vit? Whereas 2000 vit but with a higher crit chance could be just as, or more effective?
gear also only provides you an OR scenario. you would get to spec either crits OR stat X. sp gives you an AND scenario. another reason to stop ignoring them. or keep ignoring them but don't wonder why the game isn't as customizable as you want.
I don't ignore them, I'm at over 120... It's still not as customizable as i would like. There aren't mods that give crit% or crit magnitude (outside of socket bonus). SP will only give you very minor boosts, but maybe that will change when they revamp the SP mechanics. There are also very few SP we could put into cunning... It's really not that customizable. Controllers are meant to be straight power batteries, and that's all. If at least I had the choice at being a different kind of power battery, that would be great, but it's not the case.
There is different gear stats for all roles. The only reason DPS have 2 types is because there are 2 types of damage (might & Precision). It's not like we have gear for Crit Chance or whatever. I think you are over thinking this.
