Devs: whats the plan AFTER the Dps powers are balanced?

    The game was originally designed for balanced game play in an 8 man event. One tank to single pull to taunt the other to keep adds away trolls a dom then vit toll one worries about debuffs stuns and recharge the other power and recharge healers one over time one burst it keeps the group laced but over the years the community wanted more burn and faster runs the devs answered with um raid taking 1 tr9ll healer and tank out of using powers then it cycled to the other but the community wants more burn less support so now the devs are talking about upping the damage of support roles to try and maybe regain the balance again and with skill points and mods a support role can increase their damage while doing there role and 5 hose that try in do a role in part dps gear will fail

    I am starting to wonder if I play the same game as the people on the forums. People are saying things about the population in general that I just don't see. Sorry got sidetracked. Dps is a no pressure job on here to me. I play probably about as much as anyone lately. About 50/50 with my league on group content. I see friendly trash talk a lot in the damage roles and very occasionally some outright rude behavior. But I feel no pressure when I dps compared to being the solo healer, troll or tank.

    Everybody says this game is easy all the time and they want to run faster so they put these roles in one at a time. And whenever there is a completion issue those people get kicked. Most of the time nowadays they have their role to do alone, as far as trolls and healers, plus handle any thing else that needs to be done to clear the instance. It is always blamed on those roles. They never blame a dps that is the first one to go down because they are standing closer to the boss than the tank. I just don't agree with your statement.

    You likely don't feel any pressure because there are 3 or 4 other dps in the run with you, which relieves that feeling of pressure to get this done.

    You also bring up something interesting. When I joined the game, 3 dps, 2 trolls, 1 heal, 1 tank was the norm for running content. If you as a Dps was deemed to be underperforming, most of the time by the support people, you were kicked, no questions asked. The reason for this was simple, support people ran the instances. Now that 4 or 5 dps runs are the normal, you don't see the support people running instances anymore. I think a lot of this whining is simply due to the fact, that with limited numbers in instances now, the power of the support people has been taken away, and support people are not happy with that development. Just my observation and of course opinion.

    TBH I agree with this.

    - Tanks are supposed to keep aggro so the rest of the team doesn't die, bonus for keeping support safe.
    - Healers are supposed to keep the team alive, bonus for healing the tank.
    - Controllers are supposed to refill the team's power bar and debuff where applicable, bonus for refilling the healer's powers.
    - DPS are supposed to hit the enemies when they are looking somewhere else.

    Notice how DPS are out of this chain? Someone could come and say "Oh, but bonus if the tank keeps the DPS alive", but healers and trollers are more important than DPS players, since the tank can self-heal, although not as often as if he had a healer.

    Now, let's look to the negative side of the roles:

    - A bad tank will either not draw/keep aggro or die fast, prejudicing the rest of the team.
    - A bad healer will not be able to keep his team healed, meaning that people will die more often.
    - A bad controller will not replenish the team or cancel the buff of the bosses, so healers and tanks will run out of fuel and the team will be prejudiced or even wiped.
    - A bad DPS will kill the enemies slower. But with a good tank/healer/troller, that won't matter much.

    I'm not meaning to say that DPS doesn't matter, specially because my main is a Rage DPS. But what I'm saying is that, out of the 4 roles, DPS is the most disposable role, therefore meaning the easiest one.

    In every comic book , movie or TV SHOW,

    1 person with POWERS works with a TEAM of persons with POWERS.
    Every person in the TEAM has the ability to do DAMAGE when needed but so does the REST of the TEAM.
    Every TEAM MEMBER has a SPECIFIC ROLE they PERFORM to ACCOMPLISH the GOAL of the TEAM.

    When they are on their OWN MISSIONS they still have to use the ABILITIES of their ROLE with their ABILITY from their ROLE doing DAMAGE to SURVIVE and ACCOMPLISH their GOAL.

    People seem to think DAMAGE should be separate from a persons abilities when DAMAGE is a NATURAL RESULT of their ABILITIES.

    This isn't a 1st person SHOOTER game. IT is a game about TEAMS working together to ACCOMPLISH a GOAL,,,,

    Oh wait, no it isn't, it's a game about how fast can 1 person SHOOT their way through so the 1 PERSON SHOOTER can be TOP DOG.

    PROBLEM solved, just remove people playing as TEAMS and make it a 1st PERSON SHOOTER game like BLACK OPS.

    No roles needed just DAMAGE.

    You'd be surprised how much more efficient group runs are when support roles go beyond the bare minimum. I've personally done it myself as a celestial battle healer and I've seen an atomic tank do good damage just from their combos due to their hometurf mods and skill points. I don't think people should sacrifice their main stats if the raid is new and difficult but otherwise there's no reason not to try :)

    I'm not arguing that people that KNOW WHAT THEIR DOING should or shouldn't pay attention to damage. It's near irrelevant, but have at it.

    My issue with the dumb dumb losing focus of what their job is in Support stance. If we start messing with Support stance by upping the damage potential, the scoreboard chasing will no longer be predominantly DPS. Now everyone's losing focus on the objectives.

    Not to mention, this would mean upping the health pools on ALL content which equals amother few years of messed up Tiers and adjustments. All of which takes far too long to ever accomplish (if ever).

    This is why the game is dead because of players like this, if you deeply feel that way just switch roles. Cant have your cake and eat it too dps easy?? Switch problem solved.

    I think most support roles won't lose focus on their main job because there's only one of them, you can't rely on a second controller to throw pot or another heal to save people or another tank to draw agro. The health pools might be adjusted be we can't be sure of that, try to look at the positives, faster runs and the skill base increasing :p

    You keep saying support won't do their jobs because of damage, I already addressed a fix for that in this thread wich ensures that won't happen and makes the am DEPENDANT on them doing their job. Look, the devs have already stated damage is going up for support that is what is going to happen. Support my idea of how to make sure support focuses on support. I'm trying to help you by addressing your concern.
