DEVS are Making Their Jobs Harder w/PvP

The developers should just remove PvP gear from the game entirely and let players go at it with their own PvE gear. What ends up happening is an unnecessary hassle of figuring out how to juggle stats between PvE and PvP, but the game is suppose to be based on super powers and our own imaginations.
What purpose does PvP gear really serve? Other than to cater to lesser geared players. Just like a player with a lower CR is not allowed to enter certain missions they don't match the prerequisite for..... The same should go for PvP and only be for certain cr levels, alleviating the complaint of being unfair to weaker players. When they do PvP it should be the PvE gear they have acquired/earned.

The removal of PvP gear will allow the Devs to have a much easier time if they focused on one gear type for the entire game. It would inspire players to play more of the game to achieve the intended better PvE gear, and then go at it with each other in that PvE gear to show their creativity of builds.

Overall, PvP gear conflicts with the premise of the game and comics, and really doesn't fit in the DC Universe. Removal of PvP gear would fix a lot if not everything.

I've been in favor of one set of gear for ages now. It'd make gearing up for both instances easier.

Granted I only do legends so I'm certain some avid arena or PvE player is going to come along and smack me upside the head and explain why it isn't.

    This will end well
p.s. I agree with you, but it's to late to go back now with all these styles and the amount of ******** this would cause in both pve and pvp players

The only way this would work is if every tier of pve gear had the same pvp stats... which would inflate everyone's health, and would cause an imbalance in pve.

Well I figure they've changed so much of the game despite its beginnings. What's one more? I believe they can pull it off, and its probably not really that hard.

I don't think so. It may be the very thing the game needs to make a fresh start and rejuvenate everyone's experience. Part of the joy of an MMO is the idea behind making your imagination come to life. Some people are really good at it while others need assistance, but in the end, everyone needs to just be able to play the character that THEY made and so much rely on the "cookie-cutter" gear provided in PvP. No disrespect to anyone that wears it, but I think it takes away their ability to be imaginative with they're characters. Plus the idea of the Tier restrictions would help.

SOE could easily implement a lower cr tier queue for beginning players that like to rough it up early, as a way to take a break from the main story. This restriction would go both ways for the higher level players. If your gear is cr 103 for example, then you can't get in to a cr 53 PvP session the player lowers themselves somehow.

There of course would be rewards to be had, like earning three triumph marks every time you win, and one if you lose. This gives players that are bored a reason to feel like being super-powered still serves a fun purpose. So the diversity of the stats based on what the player themselves earns and puts together would work better.

I don't think you're understanding the problem when it comes to stats though, and from what you're describing, it would be a MASSIVE overhaul to much more than what you're thinking. Considering how little arena pvp gets attention already, the chances of the devs putting in that much work just for arenas isn't even a possibility.

i still agree to this, even though i wasted all my time getting max DPS and Tank gears + mods....but yeah having 2 diferrent types of armor doesnt do much except forces u to play/farm more in DCUO. But i need to ask, if lower CR are not allowed in certain mission, then how are they gonna to that with arena? like only CR 80+ higher can enter arena or something? or CR 100+? (this would ofc force people to buy new DLCs if they want to be in arena)

but yeah still agree though, saves more time on the DEVs for not needing to create new armor/styles and on the players since they dont have to farm much more for it. Win-Win situation.

well if they make PVE gears work in PVP (like ther is no more PVP gears in the game), then they would make it defense reduces DMG instead of toughness.

I think the issue that is being pointed out is that PvP gear has more health by nature than PvE gear and certain abilities are dependent on the health of the player so it would effect those as well.
  11. Ice Clown New Player

true but pve gears give more dom/restor/vit/prec/etc. thats why lots of people use pve gears in arena, i dont see whats wrong with it

The problem with only having 1 type of gear obtainable via PVE and PVP is that you always have 1 group (whether it is PVErs stating it is unfair that PVPrs obtain their gear via facerolling players or PVPers saying players are gearing by mundane NPCs instead of doing any challenging content) that is deterred by the setup.

Separate gear sets were originally introduced in MMO's to help players progress in a specified content by doing said content. Some games have tried to do away with gear entirely in PVP, however the issue there is that many need some type of "carrot" to entice them to do PVP content as PVP is in much of the MMO community a much smaller % of players.

Having said all of that I think the starter PVP/PVE sets should be purchasable via either type of mark (MOV or MOT.) After that doing the actual content should be the basis of obtaining any sort of gear. The grind has been greatly diminished by allowing marks for a loss, DLC 4 missives, and Legends giving both MOL and MOV. You cannot diminish the gearing process to much as once a player gets to the top tier it only takes a few weeks playing casually in PVP to obtain the newest set.

You shouldn't force players who want to do PVP to play PVE. Just not fair and doing this will cause a lot of players to leave.
  14. Ethromel Well-Known Player

It's my belief that the Devs would make all basic content available to all tier classes, and allow for a sort of custom creator that allows for players to make the room type they want, and ultimately alleviate any player feeling hopeless as to their ability to enter and qualify for arenas. What do you think of that idea?:)

Maybe there should be a new server, like, Player versus Time? or something? or add consumables that make you invincible for like a minute, or maximum might for like 10 seconds? or movement mode in stealth without reverting? SOMETHING to make this guy and others like PvP... it would be a great idea like survival mode was. takes skill points to make PvE easier, and PvP is key to skill points. why not take it to the limit? everyone wants a challenge, so? make it possible. throw an idea at the devs.

Off topic I know but kudos Dose on your 182 skill points holy moly

You must have 5 sp then..we are already forced.
  18. No thx New Player

gear is the last problem pvp has.

The fastest and most effective changes pvp needs is grounding anyone in a duel or arena. and severely nerfing wm damage when used on other players

I currently am a PVE player along with playing PVP Legends. I haven't worked on arena for my character but I can imagine only few SP are available through PVP. You should have a decent amount though once you reach t4ish area. But when I said that, I meant as in grinding for PVE gear thus making them play PVE more. Would be cool to see more PVP feats but I have no idea how they would do that.

Yeah I would figure WP would get annoying when used on others. The damage bonus for WP should only be in PVE. That whole flying this is a pain too! Especially when I play legends and Circe flies up in the with her two minions on the group. Or in a group event someone will just hover in the air shooting out charged ranged attacks and stuns the whole time while you try to fight someone else. I can only imagine how annoying this my be for those in arena.

yeah that idea is good i like that, but the DEVs hardly ever focus on pvp arena :(. still would love this to be added!
