This is the weakest nonsense we always get to hear. How many of these terrible players have started in the nearly 3 years since the change and were NEVER 'conditioned' in those runs? How many players from before the changes ran MORE stuff in EEG than they did in EG? Just how many decades do you think the game should need to be around to counterbalance the 'conditioning'.....surely in 10 years it should be good...right? 20? 100 years maybe? Well, we are almost 3 in, and you guys are still leaning on that excuse...please set a reasonable timeline so we'll all know how long it takes to counter-program these mechanics zombies.

You know, for content that was 'never ran', 'ghosttown' and 'completely dead'...all of which pre changes EEG has been referred to...there sure was a lot of 'conditioning' going on.

People decline instances because most are long and boring and not worth the effort. Mechanic heavy runs just add a little fuel to that fire...generally on the 'long' side, but there are plenty of simple mechanic runs no one wants to run either.

Don't worry your feedback was heard and considered for. Now your raids will never be long.:p

I quite enjoyed that, made binge watching my shows whilst playing all the more easier ;)

These raids DO have a place scattered throughout content. Just IMO here, a raid IMO feels more like a 2011 4 man these days. 10-15 minutes in the raid and you're done.

Id like to try Elites but haven't gotten any luck in LFG and ELITE raids don't procc. So I don't really bother with it.

Oh, in a year or so after Shock is in EEG, this will be one that will be accepted I'm sure. Even with the fact you'll need to pick up bodies outside the bubbles or ignoring the cogs.. Short and boring is better than long and boring. Funny you pick on this one, when ROE is arguably easier...even with the 2 sections of hallway adds.

But by all means, feel free to take all the Khandaq, FOS1&2, Batcaves and the like. You know, the runs from when we literally had nothing else to do, so a hour long raid made some sense....46 episodes ago. Better you than me.

If most of your game is boring why even play it?

And if majority of the playerbase has that mindset? What then? Doesn't sound healthy. MMO times have changed, the community expectations have shifted, and people are older as well. They should look into adapting to those changes (but not by dumbing down the game.. *cough SWG cough*).

It used to not be this way, but it is now. What used to work back then might not work nowadays (long instances for example).

Many still hold onto hope that the game they are passionate about (and/or put a lot of time/money into) will get better and full of life again.

Asking "why play then" can seem to be the same argument as "why should I care throwing this trash into the street? I'm just one person, it won't make a difference". Until everyone starts doing it.

Your point is clear enough even for a simple man like me; I get it... I promise! :) "Save the day" was intended to be poetic. No rational, empathetic person feels the op should wait for days on end to raid via omni q due to repeated declines from other players. Period. Saying adding long lockouts would be a bad approach is a helpful contribution, especially since you explained *why* multiple times for those in the back of the class...

The next part is even better, though... responding to a frustrated fellow player facing a problem that their proposed remedy won't help then walking away would've been a jerk move. You took the opportunity to discuss how the warp in timer could be adjusted so less queues get missed, and that's constructive. While I chose not to exhaustively detail the deleterious consequences of 30min penalties, I agree with you, and also offered my 2 cents in this thread.

Just in case you *would* like a polite debate, though, imho adding that you'd be immune to the fallout of the penalties, and not plainly stating you support the devs exploring possible solutions (including your own) to the issue presented when appropriate... somewhat less constructive. Tbc I fully understand my opinions are just that; I don't plan to drape a voice of the players/devs flag over my shoulders anytime soon.

As far Omni-Intelli-Queue theory... yeah, 100% not mine. Just listened to it here and there in my chats for the last 3 or so years. Sure, I could share examples and my thinking on the subject, but until an official yea or nay is announced (likely never), confirmation bias, randomness, and clandestine programming agendas are the best bets.

I’m all for longer raids. I expect raids to take some time to complete. But I want it to be enjoyable and not mechanic heavy in that the mechanic can not be executed in time because you are constantly being attacked by adds or worse the Boss or worse, there is only a few seconds to perform the mechanic. Alerts should not be long. VMF has permanently left a bad feeling with me. I’ve added it to my “will never play again” list like NGN and DWF.

Fractured God Sphere is an example of a raid done right. I wish more raid would be as enjoyable.

That's a good question. There isn't really much of a reason to play this game from a gameplay perspective. At it's core, most of the content is the exact same. It's boring, monotonous, and not rewarding.

That's what you get when there is no room for creativity, and you make the game just like any other standard MMO. Gameplay suffers for the "greater good" and health of the game, but it isn't a fun experience any more.

My opinion is, they need to get a handle on what kind of experience they want to give the player. I'm playing a DC themed game to feel like a DC themed hero or villain, and you do not feel that way at all once you hit end game content. The structure is almost the same. Most of the time, you can get through stuff by almost sitting in one spot spamming powers. The action isn't there, the creativity isn't there, and the overall feel of the game doesn't deliver.

So what do we have as a result?

Boring *** content that no one wants to play, so as a bandaid we want to punish players for not wanting to play it.

    It just doesn't make sense.

    1) been getting hit with goofy deserters penalties lately..like 10+ min. When that happens, I bail on DCUO..not sure how that helps your population issue (see selective Starro alert participation during that week...)
    2) the problem with waiting redonkulous time periods is stuff happens..you need the loo / cat needs feeding..heck you fail at staying awake..this is why long queues fail more than any deliberate declining.

that's one thing STO (Star Trek Online) did better with their random queues - you don't know *which* instance you're getting..you just get 'your instance is ready' type message.

Here's the thing that you just never seem to grasp... It's not that we don't think that mechanics aren't fun.

THEY JUST AREN'T FUN DOING THEM FOR THE 1,000th TIME. A game that is specifically about progress and gaining (super) strength... means that we look forward to moving beyond those mechanics as we focus on the new ones.

And YES: We get for some people those old mechanics are new...
THE TRICK TO MAKING IT INTERESTING FOR BOTH PARTIES IS TO KEEP THOSE PARTIES SEPARATED (or having an option of separation) ... NOT KNEE-CAPPING THE MORE EXPERIENCED PARTY.

And when I say that we want to "move beyond" mechanics.....

I don't mean that we just want to not have to do them... I mean that we don't want to have them be such a 'make or break' focus of the instance....

We spent months/years mastering those mechanics... enough is enough.
We earned the right to no longer have to worry about them... or spend the same time on them we used to do... like when we first started playing them.

It's getting tougher and tougher to answer that question by the way.

Honestly, at this point I can't really tell if you are arguing with me or agreeing. Either way, good chat.

Long story short. I think the long lockouts would be way worse for the people that want them vs those of us they think it will 'punish'. I don't believe it will ever happen either, as I think the devs know how it would impact the overall queue ups. Time will tell I guess.

FWIW, I don't think I ever implied you were a 'simple man'. Sorry if you inferred that.
  19. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

I was going to say this. FGS is probably one of the longer more recent raids, and it still seems fun, or at least not 'boring'. Hallway adds don't just feel like fodder meant to slow you down for 20 min, including a bug sub boss who can often wipe the room. Good map that isn't just a pure rehash of something else...or a backwards version of it. Enough mechanics to be interesting....even a challenge at times, but simple enough that it can be figured out by nearly anyone except that one guy who just won't stay out of the lightning strikes...or lunge when it says 'lunge Zeus'. But hey, he must have been conditioned for that behavior during 10 years of that raid being un-changed and mechs skippable.

Wait...it was the content that went to EEG only after the changes? Whyfor do he no do mechs then?
