Pro-Hero on Hero Side, Pro-Villain on Villain Side. Depends what side you play on. ;)

I play hero side due too no villain influx. Any new players go too the hero side due to marketing like this

I don't get how that is geared towards just the Hero faction and not just general game play. If you're referring to them highlighting the fact you get a "Green Aura" suggestion you will start as a Green Lantern, I can see that point, but I only think they do that because technically there is no "Yellow Aura" for the Sinestro Corps they made it gold for some reason to look like an yellow aura.
If they said you would get a Green or Gold aura depending on your choice of faction that would be incorrect as Sinestro Corp members are yellow not gold.
    Just my 2 cents.

I still see stuff directed towards Villains in their marketing.

Even more is that the devs themselves prefer being Villains.

I suppose they could re-brand/reboot it DC Hero Online, if there would be need for that.

I dunno, I had no desire to play a Villain when I found out I couldn't rob a bank.

    No bank. No interest.

And I swear I fought as many iconic villains as iconic heroes as a Villain. That just seemed wrong.

The no villain content thing does suck but the devs are pretty much stuck with it now due to how long it takes to make content, according to them. Separate hero and villain missions would probably result in us getting another terrible 3 instance dlc pack (hand of fate) since I'm guessing there's no way they'll make the hero side work for the wrong faction like they do with villains.

I'd be fine with less quantity and better quality, personally. It's a shame very few else are the same way :(

I also think, for whatever reason, they make the villain missions more difficult. Take the T3 STAR Labs solo challenge... you get swarmed by mob after mob, but what makes matters worse is that in the very first room, even after you clear the room, 9 times out of 10, your health doesn't regen because it won't let you out of combat. So you have to go open the door because there is another mob waiting to attack you and take care of them too, before you are dropped out of combat so your health can regen; it SHOULD drop you out of combat once you clear the first room, but it doesn't.

I think playing the villain side is a blast, but compared to the hero side, I just find the villain missions more difficult in comparison.

heroism is what drives the entire comic-book genre. The idea that villains are somehow going to be equally popular is just silly.

Not that we want it to be. ;) We tend like our smallish popularity.

speak for yourself. there are often threads on here talking about ways to increase villain popularity and participation.

The OP thread makes some outlandish insinuation that SOE is somehow creating the population disparity. That's nuts. 90% of player will want to play heroes first. It's called the "SuperHERO" genre. Not the Superpeople genre.

The "hero" part is actually much more crucial to what makes this genre interesting and popular that the "super" part is. There are way more "superheroes" that have no powers than there are villains that get their own title.

That's generally a hero wanting to play on villain side but isn't used to having a much lesser amount of people on the other side of the game. I'll admit I started as a hero because I had a cousin play as a hero. But shortly thereafter I delved into creating a villain character, seeing as there were less annoyances, it's less rowdy and overall people tend to be nicer, not always and not everyone but the people I met at least.

I assume any actual player that's been on Villain side for the majority of the game is pretty against increasing the Villain popularity due to them generally not wanting to deal with what happens on hero side. But that's only people I know, that I can personally speak for. Not everyone is like that but even on the forums too, the treads wanting an increase in popularity on Villain side come with a lot of backlash, from what I've seen.

But all in all agreed the hero part is what makes this game and what attracts the majority of the player base. Though they eventually come to the crossroads of which side they want to play on, that's their choice entirely and neither are wrong, but yes heroes make up the majority of the games population.

If they want to increase villain population make a faction transfer token. BAM instant influx of seasoned players hunting SP.

You can look through the forums there have been many threads from villains talking about ways to increase the population or to allow cross-faction que'ing etc.

I believe that cross-faction or faction-switching a terrible idea. I've seen what happens in other games and honestly you might as well just get rid of the 2 factions, make everybody heroes and leave it at that if we're gonn have switching and cross-faction.

I believe that the best way to handle the villain situation would be to offer significantly different gameplay for the villains such that the villain side became a sort of side game offering gameplay that was completely different than the hero side.

One guy offered a suggestion to make some villain mini-game instances where the villain goes solo against a group of heroes with the aid of a stream of henchmen. The villain would be able to have some control over his army of thugs and would have different option as far as how to approach the situation, through more stealth and indirectness or to directly confront the heroes.

Ideas like this are what should be brought to the villain side rather than the 3 most obvious and obviously terribad solutions : cross-faction, faction-switching and loot incentives for villains.

There is some truth here. When Nexus first dropped it was far more difficult on the villain side than it was on the hero side.
