I go over several ideas to help improve the game. Ideas that can easily be incorporated, and bring balance. With them working on powers my hope is they get to hear some of these ideas or other people bring them to the forums for them to see.
Oh good, just what this community needs more of: "I have thoughts, click my YouTube video to find out what they are" clickbait nonsense. There are problems with the game, but it's never the same dead topics people keep beating, and rarely do new theories ever actually touch on the reality that the game is just stale, and the dwindling loyal community is too fractured and filled with intolerance and in-fighting that, combined with the complete lack of advertising, makes retention of the virtually non-existent new players nearly impossible. Also the fallacy that a small studio could ever restore DCUO to a AAA title status is also the problem. It's not Sony with Sony budget and Sony staff, it's Dimensional Ink, a studio with less than 75 staff.
Take it from someone who has been playing this game since release: The devs don't listen, won't listen, and will only incorporate new stuff if it brings it heavy cash. It's good to have ideas, don't get me wrong, I'm simply stating this so you don't get your hopes up. Not sure if you realize this or not, but the company that owns daybreak/DCUO, has repeatedly and openly stated they are "not investing" any resources back into DCUO. Meaning every penny this game makes, goes to pay bills, or other platforms/games. We get nothing, but a lot of restrictions on what the developers can do. Which brings us to the disaster the last 3 stories have been, with the exception of this current one not being as bad as the previous 2.
Personally now, I’m afraid of their method of balancing powers given what the last one did to the game and what allowed them to add behind... It may be cool, if this is done in a respectable way, but it won’t be so if it’s done like the last one, but I’ll say this, it’s high time to change the trend of powers that have been favored for too long now and those always set aside for too long too!
Oh, it would be so SO easy to dive headfirst and wholeheartedly into snark and sarcasm right now. Instead, I'll try to be a bit more measured. So when it comes to balance, it's never going to be as easy as some think it might be. If it was, any real balance problems would have been solved long ago. There are so many factors in play during gameplay that it can't be narrowed down enough to make any fix easy, at least not without making everything in the game (powers, weapons, all the add-ons, etc.) feel or act exactly the same. And speaking from personal experience, that doesn't go over well with the player base. And considering the vast majority of the game is cooperative and not inherently competitive, it's hard not to look at complaints about imbalance between powers and think, "Huh, did someone get beat out on the scoreboard?" Remember, we play with each other in group fights, and more importantly, we don't get anything extra or special for doing things like topping the scoreboard. I just have to wonder how much the balance complaints might be reduced if folks didn't make something that's supposed to be cooperative a competition.
Enad Global 7 has free cash, there is also Warner Bro Games which can also invest in the project. Where WB Games might want DCUO remaster/remake to be on Warner Bros. Central Game Technologies services/technology stack. Everquest Dungeons/X and the first Jack Emmert Marvel Universe Online project shared art direction. "They wanted every race to be just gorgeous. Something you’d see in the Marvel universe, and aesthetically beautifully. They also wanted them slightly stylized and not as realistic in human proportions. And facial features" -- https://everquestshow.com/2023/10/2...from-a-previously-unannounced-everquest-game/ Everquest X: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/aGVv3J https://www.artstation.com/artwork/o2orok https://www.artstation.com/artwork/aGVv49 https://www.artstation.com/artwork/zDR8oZ https://www.artstation.com/artwork/9NVGXy https://www.artstation.com/artwork/lR4AV5 Marvel: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/g84zZZ https://www.artstation.com/artwork/4Xx88l Everquest Prime (Everquest 3/Unreal Engine 5 reboot of EQ1) at earliest 2028. The Cryptic Studios, new people at Dimensional Ink Games, coverage had them doing Project12(Rogue-lite)/13(Open World/MMO-like) both being Unreal Engine 5. Where EG7 on Daybreak: "DC Universe Online continued its positive trend following the implementation of a new content release pipeline, which is driving player engagement and improving monetization." Which is good enough for DC Universe Online to get the $50 million USD reserved for the Marvel MMO.
totally this, man. I can't even remember the last time I looked at the scoreboard. as long as we all get out the other end, I'm good.
