DCUO has been out for a decade and two years, with very minor changes to the graphic aspect of the game. I believe everyone would greatly appreciate it if developers took time away from creating hundreds of different currencies and events to focus in on the games poor graphics. As a console player, it is very discouraging to be playing a pixelated game on a Playstation 5 that is advertised to have outstanding graphics. I believe if DCUO cared for their community they'd make it more enjoyable and user-friendly, rather than making it a constant money grab for the past decade.
I love the DCUO Graphics. I love the visual look of the game. That being said..... I believe that we are seeing an update slowly and surely one small piece of content at a time. . Look at the textures on the Rash Guard..... or even the Rainbow material..... The textures of more recent models seems to be upgraded. My guess is that they will upgrade the more recent stuff and work their way back to the older stuff. Or upgrade the older stuff with the newer models like they did with some of the characters. When we get a new character model.... they also replaced the old version in older content with the new model. When we got the PS4 update.... we did have a pretty be update across the board. But now we seem to be getting a small update one piece at the time?? Although...... I could be wrong?? only Mepps knows..... and the Shadow..... or course.
We'll see how everything looks in Q4(Holiday Season) when and after all of the improvements related to PS5 and XBOX Series X are launched. I'm serious lol 98% of every trailer they release is how out dated the graphics are even when the trailers are good imo. It's a very very small group who feel the graphics are ok as is lol.
First of all this doesn't belong in the testing feedback forum as it is a suggestion. Secondly....they have been working on graphic upgrades for next gen consoles for quite awhile (announced a year or two ago) and they should be released later this year. Read the recent developer update.
Yoo New on forums, guys. Interesting thread! My post isn't to beg developers or argue with players. Simply put, as a long time player, I too am curious and excited to see DCUO's continued aesthetic updates (as previously referenced) Solid points made all around; exactly the type of thing I hoped to read and get a feel for DC conversations outside my bubble. If you pay attention you'll see a LOT of graphic updates which have been added over the past few years. The ones off the top of my head I saw in Metropolis yesterday... + The vehicles are different. Cars now have a metallic reflections. + Road signs are new and varied and also have slight color differences rather than flat colors. + Seagulls! I almost hit some of those suckers more than once.
DCUO Graphics, for some, So they can fraggin see what they're doing lol, but for most? to refocus the way immersive gaming should be. I'm all for it, Just a suggestion, add a /retromode like Trove did, that is if you wanna really make a different impact on the way we all see the DCU. Just tossing that on the table. take what you need from it. Looking forward for future developments on this topic.
There's also been numerous model updates overtime. Sometimes they just give the existing character or item better textures, sometimes they make entirely new models from the ground up. Granted.... there are some weird spots these models didn't get swapped out. Off the top of my head there's: Mera (both Circe impersonating her and real Mera) in the mentor mission where Circe is manipulating the Atlanteans The Aegis of Truth instance shows the updated Wonder Woman model but the old Circe model in cutscenes for some reason, though Circe's Trial does use her updated model so not sure what's going on there Always found it weird how they updated Tala's model but only to add a random skirt that looks weird on her and nothing else, but during either last Halloween event or the one before, don't remember for sure, where she's standing in the HOL to give the event mission.... I noticed one day she just didn't have the skirt for some reason but another day noticed she had it again, so that was strange..... There's a few cases of Trigon possessing the Titans and in their possessed forms, some of them reflect their updated outfits but I think I remember Donna Troy for some reason not doing so and reverting back to her old outfit when possessed (what is it with possession and putting you back in your old clothes?) The 7 deadly sins demons have newer, updated models in episodes and their respective open worlds (IE Gotham Wastelands) but not in base game Gotham and Metropolis and mentor missions, though that one we do have the reason for (it would be too complicated/tedious and difficult and impractical to swap all of those out to really justify using up the resources/time it would take which would then be not going towards other, more important stuff.... besides none of us really care enough about those guys for it to be necessary) The new Bruce Wayne model from the April Fools ally and the current Batman model don't look like they could be the same person (though because it's Batman, that's super easy to justify as him purposely making his two identities look very different somehow, not like he hasn't been known to do so in the comic source material! And it's no harder to believe he could do so and do it effectively enough than it is to believe Dick could, on numerous occasions, impersonate one of the identities in order for them to be in the same place together and have everyone buy it.... frag, in Batgirl Year One he did the same for Babs to keep Gordon from catching onto her!)
For one, the 'suggestion' forum was not visible to my eyes so I created a forum where it seemed most reasonable lol, I hope you receive points for being a Karen about it though. I've read the latest developer update and there can be a possibility that there will be a graphic update. I'm aware of items and characters being updated with new clothing or SLIGHTLY improved graphics but I strongly believe it's going to need a whole lot more than just that. The "OGs" of DCUO beg to differ and will have the utmost loyalty and respect and will convince themselves to believe that the game isn't dead. For this games potential, it is considered dead and can have an insanely increased player count if one big step to development was taken (In this case, graphics). The game intro (Right before creating your character) is literally a scam into making you think the graphics will look even just close to that. It's been out for a decade, you cannot tell me every other game advances their graphics but DCUO. Sound like an old head. There's room for improvement and it's been long enough. If there was just a bit of care of community growth, or a longevity plan to market they'd probably stop making so many different currencies, events, and scams and set that aside for a few months to soley focus on graphics. There's a reason why the same people who are playing DCUO now are mainly older people, the generations come, test it out, see the graphics and the complexity and time consumption that it takes to become 'OP' and leave. But I won't get into that other stuff on this thread.
Calling me a "KAREN" when you are here to complain just for the sake of complaining. It is nobody's fault but your own that your reading comprehension is lacking. You could not find the proper forum for your suggestion (it belongs in the GENERAL gameplay discussion not the test server feedback forum) and you could not read the developer update addressing your concerns about the graphics (which are not just a "possibility" as they have been officially announced and have been being worked on for years and will be released by the end of this year for next gen consoles) Now you are insulting other forum members who dared to respond to you and still finding new things to complain about....but yeah I am the "Karen". Last time I checked a lot of games have intros and cinematics with graphics that look nothing like actual in-game play and I have never heard anyone call them a "scam" before. If you think they are going to completely overhaul a "decade and two years" old game to make it look like the cinematic then you will be severely disappointed. If you hate the game so much as is then don't play it and find something else to do with your time rather than complain about it. .DEVS : please close this thread as it is off-topic and initiated by a toxic player just to complain.
I wouldn't call it complaining, I'd call it making a suggestion to improve gameplay and player community. Regardless of where it belongs, Devs can always move my threads over if it upsets them that much and given that this thread is still here I don't think it's that big of a deal like you are making it. I get it though, you're unemployed trying to become a forum mod, keep fishing for those brownie points. That is true, there are several games that have great graphics for trailers and cut scenes but there hasn't been a game like DCUO that has lasted a decade and some years. In my previous statement, this game has huge potential so why not make the huge change to attract more players. I am referring to the different currencies when I say "scam", for an example: Trading in 100 source marks for only 25 Quarks. That is something completely different that I won't get into though. My expectations are nowhere near the cinematic, anything better than what it has been is always better. Change is okay, I know elderly individuals fear it but you should embrace it a bit more. Lol, telling Devs to close a thread, who are you and what type of authority do you think you possess? You would be a terrible mod stating false accusations and having a power trip. How about World of Warcraft...It will be 19 this November (probably older than you judging my your entitlement and lame insults) That game has been around a lot longer has a far larger subscriber base and while they have upgraded graphics over time it is nowhere near the quality of their opening cinematics and I never heard anyone ever complain about that. The reason they don't make "the huge change to attract more players." is probably because they have lost a LOT of developers over the years...the game went to a free2play model instead of a subscription only mmorpg and had to rely mostly on microtransactions just to keep the game going. I am sure if you want to invest your millions in the company they would be happy to meet all your requests. You aren't even sure what you want to complain about it started off as a graphic update (which you have already been told is coming so the discussion should be over) to in-game cinematics and different currencies then just outright insulting "oldhead" "elderly" players. I am labeled as a "well-known player" because I have posted just over 100 times (in over 10 years).....I have been playing this game since the beginning on PC....but still never felt the need to post often about it....there are some with over 15000 posts on the forums and you are insulting each of them calling them elderly lol. Play the game or don't but don't think you have the right to come on here and tell people that it needs to be changed to suit your needs and insulting people who don't give you the response you want.....if that is how you choose to go through life then get ready for a world of disappointment.
Also in addition to the financial cost it would take to upgrade the graphics to your standards if it was even possible there are also the technological limitations to consider. DCUO is a MMORPG...that means Mighty Massive Online Role-Playing Game....emphasis on the "Massive Online" part. If you think they could upgrade the graphics to Gotham Knights quality (for example) the game would be unplayable. With hundreds if not thousands of players online (wishful thinking) at the same time the game would be nothing but lag and your PC/console would melt. High Def graphics like that are fine for solo player games or games that only have up to 4 players online (like Gotham Knights or Avengers...the upcoming Suicide Squad if it ever comes out) At the most with the graphic updates we are getting will be Higher Def versions of what we already have in-game. It will never be Gotham Knights level of quality or look like the intro cinematic. Technology isn't there yet but the good news since you are so young you may live to see it in your lifetime....us "elderly old heads" will be long dead and you can enjoy it then.
