DCUO, Dead by the end of next year?

It seems a bit desperate for cash.

    Especially the Base items.

Did you see how much they are charging for those???

Others did the Math.... but if you properly want to decorate your base buying those.... you will pay 5 to 10 times what you payed for the base itself. And that is to decorate ONE base.

    That is crazy.

And again.... these are items that are already IN the game. They spent 0 man hours making those new items. So no justification in such crazy prices other then being a money grab.

Since you did not bring up any other point.... I assume that you agree with all the points you did not bring up???

Have fun and happy gaming to you, I'm gonna watch football while I play anything but DCUO because I'm not a dps so the game is not meant for me to enjoy it as a support role.

Okay, when I ask this I am not trying to be sarcastic or a jerk. I would like clarification.

Many community members for a long time have asked for various items to be purchasable. The community asked for the amenities to be purchasable.

Totally serious, them giving the community something we asked for is a sign of failure in what way? I get that the prices are too high and I would never buy them myself, but how is it a bad thing to give people what they ask for?

Again, these are your opinions, not facts.

I happen to enjoy weapon mastery and have yet to play with anyone who doesn't. Does that meN it is universally loved? No. But I don't think it is nearly as hated as you believe. I find it much better than jump canceling and clipping.

My list and the reasons I think it shows a healthy game is based on the belief that anyone losing money or dying wouldn't invest the time or resources into those extras.

In regards to the many open threads complaining about the game as proof of its upcoming death, I would ask you to go back to launch and read those complaints as well. People have been complaining and speculating of its death for a long time.

In the past year, losing jump canceling and clipping was the death.....still around
Amazon Fury having no raids was the death......still around
Only one raid in WOL was the death.....still here
PVE in PVP was the death....still here
Nerf into nexus and dox was the death....still here
No solos or duos in HOP was the death....still here
Weapon mastery was the death...,still here

Remember when they announced Marvel Heroes??

It was the next super-hero game after Champions, City of Heroes and DCUO.

One could have expected it to be one more step forward in creating the next great super-hero game.

Instead we got hits HUGE step backward with what is essentially an Online version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
Heck Marvel Ultimate Alliance was much more fun to play they Marvel Heroes.

Althoguh some might get their super-hero fix from the Batman games... Infinite Crisis..... heck some may even like Marvel Heroes.

But right now what we DO have is DCUO.

No guarantee that the next super-hero game will be better then DCUO.

This is what I say. Drop the PS3 and advance the old game with new features.

If unreal engine was replaced with better tech, maybe it could solve more problems

This game has some life left for sure. But me personally will be moving over to destiny, i stopped my sub for this game and probably wont come back for a very long time if ever. I've played on and off for three years and time to get on destiny and later the division. Great run while on here.

All they have to do is draw from the magic of the early raids and stop thinking that anything will do. Sure, HoP 1 had a decent amount of content, but you'd be very hard pressed to find a single instance as engaging or fun as any of the early content.

There needs to be fun content, there needs to be varying degrees of difficulty from "carebear" to "mashyourfaceoffmegadeathkiller" to appease all crowds. There needs to be mechanically driven content. There needs to be way more of a focus on non-DPS roles. There needs to be more iconic enemies and more iconic locations. I don't need MORE content, I need more ENGAGING content.

Did not take your posts any other way then serious.

    How is it a faillure??

    It is on two fronts.

    1) It is a failure in the original plan to be able to get the Amenities by collecting collections.

Finding the collections for the Amenities were wayyyy too hard.
Many gave up on this and just said "damm this" and went on playing with no Amenities in their bases.
Heck I got the Amenities on my main on PS3 and my main on PC.... and right there and then decided to never do this again for any of my Alts.
So I understand those who did not want to bother with this pooop.

So the original idea for people to get Amenities was not very well thought out to begin with..... which led to people asking to be able to buy them.

Some of those collections are rare enough that one would wonder if the devs did not make them rare on purpose so that people would prefer to buy them with actual cash. But that goes a bit on the conspiracy side.... so we will ignore that last part.

So making the Amanities too hard to get led to the need for people to buy them. Which does show a failure of the original idea to collect 10 collections were some were a bit too rare.

    2) It makes the devs seem desperate for cash.

Yes people did ask to buy them.... because it was very difficult to get them in game. And getting them for one toon was difficult...... getting them for multiple toons??? not really an option.

Those who needed to buy Radars to look for collections were already paying for them.
Yes in theory.... you did not HAVE to buy Radars to look for collections. But in practice there was much competition looking for them collections. So you sometimes needed an edge to beat the competition when a dozen other players were farming the same collections you were.

Even though the players did ask for that option...... at the end of the day..... all the devs did was take something that was already in the game... and repackaged it with a price tag.

It required no extra work from the devs. No extra man hours were needed to make those Amenites.... they were already IN the game.

Some would find this too expensive. Some would refuse to buy them thinking that they are already paying for their subs.... no way would they pay extra for those.

But it does look like a bit of a cash grab any way you look at it.

    Hope this makes sense.

Well I'm a ps3 player wasted $40 on the dlc to become a premium player. I think developers shouldn't make it ''oh waste $5 on something in game so you instantly become premuim''. I think you need to waste atleast $10-15 dollars or euros or w.e type of currency to become premium. The only reason why they made it F2P was because the people who first play it are amazed by it. Then they think they beat it..only to find out that after level 30 a whole new world opens up to them. They reached the full potential of F2P and they decide to become a premium after they become premium and waste w.e amount of money on dlc. They notice that they're still limited so they get a membership and they love it so much that they keep on being a member. Then they meet people who are actually coordinated, good and have well thought out plans and they go and join their league. Once that happens they teach him or her more on how to play the game. DCUO ain't a sinking ship the PS3 still has years left before it becomes obsolete. Just cause the ps4 came out doesn't mean old consoles are obsolete. Yeah more mmo's are coming out for the computer and new consoles but it doesn't compare to this. To interacting with your comic book heores. Actually be a part of the action. in my ***OPINION*** you've gotten bored with the game cause you maxed out your character and like you said it becomes the same old repetitive concept. Its not gonna die and we're not wasting money on a sinking ship. You've just gotten bored and decided to post a forum about why the game got boring to you. Its okay I respect your opinion. But the PS3 ain't going anywhere.

Traitor. ;) ;) And you call yourself a real super-hero. Shame on you. ;) ;)

    But seriously......

    I can't really blame you.

I have tried the Beta for Destiny.... and it was fun. Heck too many of my friends will do the same and will pretty much quit DCUO for Destiny next Tuesday.

Some might come back to DCUO after a while.... but I expect most.... if not all.... to never return to DCUO.

And like you.... I can't really blame them.

Heck last year I lost a bunch of friends to Daiblo 3.

When you play another game.... it does remind you what DCUO is lacking.

When playing Diablo 3..... it showed how great it was to have all your characters share their cash, crafting recipes, crafting materials.
You did not need to switch character when you needed to craft something. Very convinient.

Something that is very lacking in DCUO sadly.

I would say good luck enjoying Destiny...... but I don't have too. I already know that it is a fun game and that you will enjoy it. ;)

Please learn the difference between "wasting" money and "spending" money. They are not the not the same. If you spent money on something and got value out of it then it was not a waste. If you spent money on something and were unable to use it or saw no use in it then it was a waste of money.

    Thanks for the clarification.

While I don't agree with you point of view, I do think it is valid.

:/ I guess I meant both spent and waste tbh.

I guess how you interpret events depends on your viewpoint and the way you view the game.

Where you see the MP additions as attempts to raise more cash to keep the game afloat, I see the game finally starting to unlock the potential of the Marketplace in response to the increasing demand for more useful items.

You and I give different weight to most of your other signs. It's clear that the budget and staff of the game has gone down since launch, I don't think anyone argues with that. And certainly the game has taken its lumps, even fairly recently. But we disagree in that I believe the game has had a revival of sorts recently, after most of the events you mention, and has gotten a second wind of sorts with the launch on the PS4. It may not still have elite manpower, but in spite of that the game has still managed to find sucess, IMO.

Obviously not everyone sees it the same way, and I'm fine with that. But the most recent news I have heard from the devs, SOE, and people on the outside looking in have encouraged me.

The game cannot be "dead" at the end of 2015. It died repeatedly and reportedly over an over within the last 2.5 years. So it has to be undead already :p

Well you have no choice. You HAVE to agree with me.
I think it is even in the EULA... go and read it... you will see. ;) ;)

    But seriously....

    You're welcome.

    i dunno.
unless i'm mistaken this is the only place you can currently see the classic versions of dc's characters.
this alone pretty much means more to me than what anyone else has to say on the subject.
throw in that i get to make up my own characters and play around in my own little pocket dcu.
i'm supporting this game to the very end whenever that comes. it deserves no less.
    haters gonna hate.
