Destiny is more than a "tech demo".

As for telling me to shut up, that's a violation of forums rules so, have fun with the warnings.

I was stating that the post i responded to was wrong. Nothing to do with DCUO so you lot are too quick to get involved when your comments are invalid and have zero to do with anything i said.

I dont play NBA yet i sitll mentioned it. Has nothing to do with being excited about games. He said no high tech games are coming before middle of 2015 i gave a list stating otherwise so please only respond to me if your being accurate about what im saying and dont try to spin my word out of context.

I know what you mean, lately I've been playing Smite, instead of DCUO. I don't know what, but something about DCUO seems a little boring now :/

I'm sure lots of people who already have every classic game feat feel this way. The devs just need to expand the classic game feats somehow. Maybe by expanding the amount of pvp feats, for instance. New pvp maps with associated feats would be a simple and cost efficient way to add classic game feats, as well as expand the pvp map rotation.

Also, there are several new game modes coming to DCUO Soon™.
    WIP: Public Missions
I can only assume these new modes will have MANY feats associated with them.

When you're spending more time telling other people they don't understand your comments rather than forwarding the conversation, it may not be the reader's fault with the mangled comprehension.

Settle down, nothing is invalid. What I stated was factually correct.

The thread in general is about DCUO dying due to other games coming out. Yes I read what you said about games coming out that are graphically superior and not glorified demos. No need to list them unless they are relevant to the thread topic. My position is very simple, too many people have predicted the downfall of DCUO for whatever reason since it came out. This latest one contributes the future downfall to upcoming games.

I am of the mind that it won't happen. Many people are on here because they enjoy the superhero aspect, not necessarily the MMO aspect. Until a superior superhero MMO comes out, DCUO will always be viable because it is the only player in that game genre.

Then youre a better man than me because I've given up on the devs. For the past year I've watched them cater to the dps role and implement raid mechanics that encourage substituting support roles for more dps' and it's just horse**** to me. The truth is that there is no game or games that will kill DCUO, the devs will kill it because of their Hitler-like dream of an all dps mmo.
  11. DEADLY MERC New Player

You know I saw destiny come up a few times, I saw dayz, h1z1 or whatever the truck it is.. look those are or at least destiny is a big budget company you know bungi made halo so you know they got $ resources and stuff to put out a dlc every month. Not saying they will but they have like no celeb voices besides that 1 short dude but dcuo has Keven conroy wonder woman ladie..Cyborg and a few other "Celebs" people like Batman have a tight schedule Arkham knight, cartoons comic cons.. all that, but bungi can just call thirty guys up and have them there! Now maybe if DC I mean the company sent some help over to soe for dcuo them we might get a dlc once a month cuz then we would have more devs but tbh I don't see h1z1 surviving dayz and I don't see dayz surviving planetside 2 really and reaally I don't see planet side two surviving destiny so as far as dcuo goes because they have their own thing going free to play superhero 3rd person mmo I think they are str8, cuz they are in their own class really
  12. Biester New Player

After this past year, I have no faith that the devs are going in the right direction with this game. You say to upvote constructive threads because you're blind enough not see that it doesn't help. Go read the old wip threads and read the thousands of posts with suggestions in which only a few were even considered yet along implemented.

I would love for DCUO to succeed but it won't with the dev team they have right now. If SOE was smart, they would drop the DC franchise and create their own superhero mmo with a different dev team that doesn't cater to the dps role. I'm not gonna continue arguing because I am one of those who have left the game because it has become a mediocre game at best so my opinion really doesn't matter because my love for comic books won't keep me playing a ****ty game oriented around the dps role. There is no game or games that will kill DCUO, the devs are doing that themselves.

I won't accuse you of being a troll, because it's against the rules, but what's the purpose of this thread man? If the game is indeed dying as you claim, devs have the numbers and know it better than you or any of us. If it's not dying, they also know for real. You're not opening anyone's eyes to any obscure fact and have zero evidence of anything you say except pure unadulterated speculation.

The only facts we know are that this has been dcuo's most successful year, that it's the number one grossing f2p game on the PSN and that it's the first time in it's history that it saw increased population in summer months when people go outdoors.

Does that spell long term security for the game? no, but it doesn't spell doom either and again, you have 0 facts.

In the end, who cares? If we truly love the game like I do, we'll keep playing until it shuts down, wether that's tomorrow or 10 years from now it's completely irrelevant because we cannot do anything to modify the game's fate and devs know the facts much better than you or any of us here.

Anyway, I hope you are enoying your meal, you seem to have been fed very well ;)

I laugh so hard when people claim that this year has been the most successful year of the franchise. Ignore what the dev team and SOE says and just look at the chat box and watch how slow it moves with people's shouts. Do you honestly think they would tell you if the game was losing a lot of revenue and was in jeopardy of going under within the next few years? Not many people would continue supporting a game that will soon cease to exist.

On another note, what makes you think a last-gen game can consistently compete with next-gen titles? Just because it carries the DC logo? DCUO is a last-gen game that is not evolving, no new mechanics or anything game changing is being implemented. Weapon mastery is the only new mechanic that has been added and it has dumbed down the only good thing DCUO had going in its favor which is the combat.

I don't know about you but I do not play any ps2, xbox, or gamecube games because gaming has evolved way beyond the technology of those systems and games. Anything that doesn't evolve eventually dies out. Even though DCUO is on the ps4, it is a last-gen game and will continue to be so because the devs are not evolving it to keep up with the new generation.

Why do you say that the past year has been a failure? You use highly subjective measures such as the speed of the chat . I use facts.

    Fact, league halls
    Fact, Armories
    Fact, weapon mastery
    Fact, multiple power revamps

A dying game would not invest the time or resources into those things.

As I and others have stated, what next gen superhero MMOs are coming out? None. There will always be people who play this because it is a superhero game. I think the dieing crowd underestimates this. Also, next year starts th string of DC movies coming out. I think that will generate interest.

If this game was losing money it would have been gone long ago. SOE cancelled Wizardry online after 2 years of existence and they never claimed it was doing well.

I find it hilarious, when people use anecdotal evidence to try to contradict facts, few things make me laugh more, thank you for that :)

On your second note, there are dozens of mmo's that have lasted through much longer in a much more rapidly improving technological environment that is the PC, so that really isn't a good indicator of anything.

In any case, you and I know about the same about the present and future of the game which is diddly squat, only devs know and SOE seems very happy with the current state and direction of the game that's all that matters and neither one of us can make this game last longer or shorter by making silly posts on the forums.

I still don't understand what the point of this thread is, but I have had my laughs and now my popcorn is over. I'll head over to the game which is the only thing I can do to influence it's fate.

    Cheers

    No signs?? Really??

"Deathbed" is too strong a word....... but the quality is going down as time goes on.
And there are plenty of signs that show the game being on a downward slope.

    The first sign??
    No more cinematics.
Those were really fun.... and they were helpful filling us in concerning the storyline. For the past few DLC.... not so clear what the story actually is anymore.

I know that many will say .... "this is an action game"..... ""what do we care for the story as low as we can pew pew pew".

But at least some of us did like the story and were sad to see the cinematics go.

Do you think they stopped doing those because the game was doing well??

    The second sign??

The massive layoffs. Will not say anymore on this for respect of all the poor people who sadly lost their jobs.

    The third sign??

Replay badges and Booster Bundles. Tools that were clearly put into place to milk money out of those who pretty much have a gambling problem.

    The Fourth sign??

    Selling Amenities.
When they started selling Armories.... the argument was that it was new stuff and that they were charging for them in order to pay for the time they spent working on them. Not really buying it.... but okay.
    But Amenities??
Those had been in the game for a year when they decided to start charging for them. So essentially they repackage something that already IN the game and added a price tag to it.

Already that felt a bit desperate for cash.... but okay..... Amenities are pretty useful.

    Then we had the Auras.

    And then the Base Items.

$4.50 for 4 wall dividers?? Really???

Dammm with such a high price on such a vanity item.... it really makes them seem desperate for cash.

And the list could go on.... but this post is running long already.

    So will stop there.

So selling something people have requested you sell is a sign the game is dying?

Tried the Beta for Destiny..... it was quite fun.

Any CoD fan that plays DCUO will most likely leave DCUO for Destiny. AT the very least for a while.

DCUO tried to appeal to MMO players by being an MMO.... and the CoD crowd by being an action adventure game.

Destiny will appeal a LOT more to the CoD crowd then DCUO does.

So expect a lot of CoD fans to at least put aside DCUO for a while next Tuesday.

You're right, a dying game would completely stop releasing anything that would salvage any revenue possible and simply let the game die without generating as much revenue as possible before it did. What makes me think the past year has been a failure? Wm is a failure that dumbed down the only good thing DCUO had going in its favor which is the combat. Multiple power revamps were done as a part of wm balancing and still havent created balance so that's another failure. League halls have been a wip for a while now, they had to be released sooner or later and just so happened to be released this year.

Just read the open threads right now. It seems the vast majority of people are not happy with the content and things being released right now so put that on the list of failures.

No superhero mmo has been annouced AS OF YET, but are you so naive as to think only one gaming company has ideas of a superhero mmo? I don't think the game will die soon but death is inevitable. The game has become mediocre at best and no superhero aspect can continue competing with a game that is going downhill in terms of gameplay. As for myself it doesn't really matter because the devs have ruined my experience with DCUO with their constant dps catering and the horrible content they are releasing. I honestly dont think this dev team has what it takes to keep the game successful for years to come.
