DCUO, Dead by the end of next year?

If there ever came a day I no longer enjoyed this game most folks will not know it. Just one day someone might say "Where's Feenicks? Haven't seen him around lately."

Because if that day comes I will just quit playing. Poof. No more.There will be no quitting thread from me. No "the game is dying" thread. I'd just move on.

More money on the PS4 side, doesn't necessarily mean that the PS3 side is now losing. If you're running a restaurant, and you serve 1 meal, which is very popular and makes you $1000 per day, and then you introduce meal b which is even more popular and is bringing you $1500 per day, you're not going to drop meal A, until UNTIL, meal A starts hindering sales of meal b to the point where meal a&b are not making money.

Sure, but i think it might be getting to the point where meal a is getting in the way of meal b tasting better and making 2-3000.

DCUO is the only DC comics superhero game. Like it or not, its not going anywhere.

Some of the comments the post generated were also interesting, there is quite a bit of interest in getting superhero MMOs off the ground (pun unintended) but its not that easy.

Where....??? Where does this mythical game exist????? There is no other Super Hero MMO out there to compete with DCUO...not on consoles. And the only one on PC pales in comparison where it really matters.

As a Video Game, yeah, DCUO has some competition...but as a Super Hero MMO, nothing comes close to toppling this game. Tossing around Destiny or whatever Flavor-of-The-Month-DCUO-Killer titles at the Devs here to "scare" them into making this game better is absolutely pointless...unless your point is to give yourself a headache at best or brain damage at worst.

You want the state of this game to improve...how about you find the threads that have already been started that give good suggestions on how to bring back some challenge in the game...the ones that manage to make these suggestions without vitriol, name calling, shaming or other BS tactics. Support those threads and maybe we can return this game to its glory days.

Making hyperbolic hypothetical claims about games that could one day kill DCUO is just plain silly. If real actual games that have come out or others that are coming around the corner can't manage to kill this game, what makes you think some hypothetical future game will do it??? Besides, let's be honest...competition could be a good thing...either the game triumphs and gets better or it fades away, replaced by something better.

Please...new gen...old gen...the story doesn't change: "Final Fantasy is gonna kill DCUO"..."Destiny is gonna kill DCUO"...."Some Next Gen game is gonna kill DCUO". See, it's the same ol' boring song and dance. Try something more original. Or better yet, join the few people making decent suggestions to improve the game...and do so without vitriol or stomp-on-the-floor type of demands. Anything on the positive side is better than this bad prognostication.

unless immediately cancelling meal A loses money needed for ingredients so meal B ends up losing flavor and people decide it's not worth the cost.

you people need to learn, they're keeping the ps3 around because of the amount of players it has aswell as to build more money until there's enough users on the ps4 to afford running it only on it and pc. they will drop the ps3 eventually, might not be next year, might not be until the year after that, but it's their call not your's just shut up about it and wait.

oh, and incase people think i'm forgetting, as for more "high tech" games coming for ps4, if you really think we're getting much more then glorified tech demos with good graphics before the middle of 2015 you're fooling yourselves.

He mentioned running Duos in his post...so i'd gather he avoids group content. If i'm wrong, he can correct me, but if i'm right then it's just like you said "I'm afraid these barriers you're speaking of are really ones you are imposing on yourself".

The only people mentioning DCUO being killed are those that are defending it.

All high games. All look amazing on next gen. All had demos and have been played. All have been confirmed they play and look how they were shown.


All out before Middle of 2015.

I dont see it dying but the FTP or micro transaction games on PS4 will mess with DCUO a little. Trust me Diablo 3 already has for me and then Destiny on tues and Warframe (getting my PS4 on tues) will take up more of my time. But I doubt DCUO will die in less than a year.

The least the devs could do is make sure this game runs properly but, they fail at that. The ps4 is going to be a bugs universe. I know the feeling and, the bugs ruin my enjoyment of this game followed by players who scream over a game. I do take breaks and, don't get the urge to come back and, eventually I'll get mail through psn and, I'm back.

True, but I don't base my confidence on the "18 million accounts" number (which of course is corporate speak, the number of active accounts is obviously far lower, as it is with every MMO or game for that matter), but in the other factors such as SOE talking about how DCUO has taken off on the PS4 and how they bring in a lot of revenue. Also the game's increased exposure as of late and DCUO's enjoyment of being virtually all alone on the console MMO market has given me reason for optimism. At the moment I haven't seen any signs that the game is on its deathbed, it may not be challenging Warcraft anytime soon but I don't think that means it has a year to live, either.
