Cross-Faction Grouping

I know the idea has been thrown around a lot, and many are trying to figure out a solid way to incorporate it in the simplest way possible.

My idea: Using a similar system as the current "group scrim" method, where once a group of each faction is formed (or even without), an option to click "Merge with Task Force X" (or Suicide Squad for us Vils). This will take you to a Task Force X menu where you can then Queue up to content with both teams.

This seems like it could be the easiest way of going about Cross-Faction Grouping.

    Thoughts?

That wont be necessary, the tools to group with opposing faction is already there. They've gone on the record that it is possible to just "enable" it right now, the problem is that there are a ton of edge cases that can cause serious bugs in the unintended areas of the game.

A lot of the problems stem from how the game was built from the ground up. PS3 and the fact the game was never intended to have cross faction grouping. (The moment they introduced cross faction PvP and PvE is when things changed.)

we should all be antiheroes and quit pretending there is a difference with anything other than 1-30
it would solve a lot of issues

pretty sure its only a few more dlc's before they make the change they are already building up to it with house of legend's

I'll miss being a Villain but I know its better for the game as a whole

They are further along than that. I'm hoping this year we will see it on test, but with how far behind they were last year, IDK.

my thoughts were they are slow rolling it to give people time to get used to the idea before forcing it on the masses and all the screaming here on the threads

It's very necessary, especially to not worry about having to switch toons for a Queue or Queueing up with randoms and then having a deserter penalty when leaving. Villain Side often struggles on Xbox as well, so being able to Queue both teams is essential for the long run. Also, with the direction the game is taking, it just makes sense. The system is already in place as scrimmage queue, just change it up and have a mode to queue PvE content with the opposite faction team.

I think you misunderstood me, I want cross faction grouping, I'm talking about ideas.

The fix would be easy. Enable a cross faction LFG (should be easy enough) we already have tell and shout that do this, so LFG would be the next step. Then enable AQS so we can build a group of 6 or 7(or 1 even), go in, then invite the remaining people from the opposing side. We can already do this EXCEPT runs like Black Dawn or Seeds of Rot where opposing faction can't go in. So those would still apply, but you wouldn't need to build a group BEFORE going in...you can go in then grab the last few bodies off the other team assuming you had a few volunteers lined up.

Again we already have this ability with people building all hero groups, then switching to a villain alt or vice versa. It's the getting in that is the problem...not the group making. Communication should be easy enough, we are 50% of the way there already.

Hope they make this work soon. I'm a villain and it's hard to find groups for elite content during the weekdays. Being able to group with the other 75% of the server would be nice.

I know people always say "just switch character after getting into the instance", well that's a real pain and makes you lose time (especially on timed feats). Also, I personally, along with MANY others, don't have an end-game character of the opposite faction to do this with. As a villain I constantly run into heroes telling me they don't even have a villain, let alone one that is CR 333 to Queue end-game content.

What is so horrible about being a villain in DCUO? Do your moral ethics not allow for you to be villain? It's a game, and the hero side is just as violent as the villain side. Anyone who chooses to be a hero because the villain population is low I want to them to realize, you are only making the problem worse and making it even less likely for future players to be villains. I don't want DCUO to bribe people to be villains, but I don't want them to give up on the villain side either. For all the heroes out there, ask yourself, who would you fight against if there were no villains? You would be stuck in the Birds of Prey DLC rescuing cats from trees. Also, in my opinion villains are generally more interesting than heroes.

I agree. I never understood it. Especially since, on Xbox anyway, villain side is comprised mostly of open-minded adults.

Speed feats, from what I understand, starts when you engage the first enemy, not the start of the instance. At least that is a little bit of a buffer there.

As for having the opposing faction, this game is mostly heroes. And yes, it is a moral compass thing. Most people read comics to immerse themselves in the heroes, not the villains they defeat. It's also why most of the comics with a villain lead end up becoming more Anti-Hero over Villain. As they can't write it that way.

I have a villain that has most of the Manhunter gear. (The style feat 8 pieces.) So I keep up with her. I also buy the feats that are crossfaction. (Unfortunately there are a few villain only that I will probably not be getting anytime soon.)

Edit: I really do hope they are able to implement the crossfaction grouping soon.

We talked about cross faction grouping again and want to do it. There are some tech hurdles for the grouping in areas not instanced based but it's not impossible (I think). Baby steps though would be to let cross faction rallying and cross faction/none *group* based healing that would help in the open worlds. All of this is stuff we want to address this year.

I'm happy with a slow rollout. I'm glad this is still on the table and that we will be seeing more and more changes (baby steps) as we go. Thank you!

Please let it happen! It would bring villains back to life again. We are already heading in that direction having House of Legends as a cross-faction HQ.

At least let it happen for the endgame content, the earlier content can come later and much of it is in Omnibus anyway.

Just curious, is the team still looking into this? I didn't see it mentioned in the Development Update Letter. Really looking forward to an update on this. Thanks! :)
