Could episodes join with other franchises?

Maybe I'm going to publish in this new post seems silly or impossible... But I would like to ask the Devs and know if ever an episode of DC Universe Online could cross over with another franchise. Something like a special episode or event in an exceptional way. A kind of “Special Crisis”.

For example, events already happened in the comics like Justice League vs Gozdilla vs Kong or DC Universe vs Masters of the Universe.

Really as a veteran player and with illusion to propose new experiences, I would like to know if this that I comment is possible or for legal or other reasons it is impossible.

Have a good time and thanks for reading me!

While I don't think it was impossible for some cross overs to happen... I have a strong belief that it will never happen (and I believe it wouldn't even have happened in the games prime).

Some of it comes with how WB handles its IP these days (very protective) and the fact that it would cost extra money that they probably would be better off using for other purposes.

Really, I don't see it happening because not only would DB need the DC license, they would also need to license the other franchise, making it more expensive, plus they'd have to have permission from DC to even do a crossover, and we've been seeing how strict DC is about their IP.

Dunno if anybody here remembers LEGO Dimensions. It was a really ambitious game, and a lot of fun. It was apparently doing very well because, unlike Skylanders and Disney Infinity, you could play with the toys outside of the game, and collectors were buying the toys for their LEGO collections. But it was a licensing nightmare, with all the different IP Traveler's Tales were having to get licenses to. Ultimately, it was a more expensive game to make than Skylanders and Disney Infinity, because of that.

Now, obviously, an occasional crossover would be less of a headache than LEGO Dimensions, but DB would have to get licenses for every property they did a crossover with (and, again permission from DC to even do any crossovers). And if a license expires, they'd likely have to pull any content using that license. But I doubt EG7 would even approve any money to be spent on that, so it's all moot anyway.
